Barbara Bush Branch Library

I’ve been to this branch so many times — more times than I’ve checked in and I realize that an update is warranted along with the addition of a star.
Face it. Any library that is half decent should receive 5 stars, truthfully. It’s a collection of books. That in and of itself is worthy of the highest rating to be achieved. Now, I know. I’ve been to some less than stalwart libraries (so lowly that I can’t even remember where they were). And I’ve been to some awesome libraries (namely the main branch of the NY Public Library, what I consider to be the motherlode). But when all the cards are on the table, if there’s a decent selection of books — particularly in the children’s area (as I was recently acquainted) — then a 5-​star rating is warranted.
This was the first time that I’d been into the children’s area of the Barbara Bush Branch. A visit with my grandson opened my eyes to a time of wonder when the choices were overwhelming and the stimuli within opened his eyes wider than I’d ever seen. Books everywhere! A doll house to gaze at. Huge stuffed animals lying about. A jumbo wooden hippo with books stacked inside. We ran around the stacks, grabbing a book here and there, reading a bit, putting it back and then moving on to the next place that made him smile.
Several times we sat at those glorious tables that are made for children but sturdy enough for adults. We read a little bit and then found yet another new book. We marveled at the beautiful mural on the wall. We read some more.
I walked down memory lane as I looked at the wall on one side dedicated to award-​winning books. I have read so many of them; I felt sheer delight as I recalled the memories of those stories.
I’d walked past this portion of the library so many times and never gave it a thought. What a loss, as it’s truly a treasure.
Any day at the library is a good day! Feed your head!

I have been going to this library since i was a kid. The place has fun learning event for kids of ages. They have a quite place go study and lots of computer availability. I would recommend going this library all time!

The library staff is great!!! They are very helpful in getting you the books you need. The children’s section is huge and interactive. I can’t wait to bring my nephew when he starts getting into books. I love how you can access your account online. I can renew books from my home, car, or work. I come here at least once a week. I love it!!!

First time here had a good experience. Nice staff, ample computers, and do it yourself checkout is awesome! The kiddos room is pretty big, I actually love how they have it sectioned off into their own little world! I know my boys love it, so we’ll be back to our now local library!

It’s a library and it does well at that. They are able to get books from other libraries so that is super helpful. They lose a star because their hours really suck.

This branch is easily on my way home from work, which is convenient once I finish an audiobook. Very nice, huge library. Have only looked at the audiobooks so far, but I’ll definitely check out the rest! I was surprised that they had books on TAPE still stocked though… lol. I was really confused until I walked down the other aisle and found the ones on CD.

I really enjoy coming here… the parking lot is huge, so there is not problem of not finding a spot, its always clean and the ladies (and gents) who work here are so sweet and helpful. I always call ahead and put a book on hold because its just not possible for me to look around as much as I would like to, and my treasure is always waiting for me on the bookshelf near the door. Its truly delightful. For someone who likes to save money otherwise used on books and more over, save clutter and space, this place is a gem. I hope that it only gets better with time. I come here more for the books than the computers, but the area with the computers almost always seems full.
Heads up, there is a church with a school or something in front of the library so going in the afternoon is not the best time because of traffic from parents picking up their kids.

My kids and I love this library.
It’s huge.
They have a ton of activities throughout the year.
The children’s section is downstairs and the rest of the library is upstairs.
They have a huge movie selection. (free for 7 days)
I love that the park is right behind the library’s parking lot. So we can make a whole day out of going to the library.
