It was my first time trying it. You get lots of food for your money. I had the smothered pork chops, they were very tender and yummy. Cabbage and cornbread were delicious! Will definitely eat here again!

This place was AWESOME! Me and my man friend came in last week for the first time because of the reviews I read. I told the owners that and they seemed surprised. Looks like they been around for a long time, so I don’t know why they were surprised! My first time eating at restaurants, I tend to get a lot of food to taste test everything… I guess I’m a «foodie»… Anyway, we got the 2 boudin links, oxtail with rice and gravy, ribs, deer sausage, and brisket(I think it’s called sliced beef?) and of course the sides that come with it such as the beans, mashed potatoes, cornbread, and Mac and cheese. I HATE cornbread and my guy did not want to try to oxtail, but we tried everything and it was DAMN delicious! My man couldn’t stop moaning on how good the food was and at 1 point, I needed to tell him to stop lol. Everything was in large portions and so very hearty… They were out of the German chocolate dessert, but was not disappointed because they insisted on us to try to the Italian cake. I’m not much for cake and am very picky on which cakes I would eat… But I’m so glad they made us try that too because I almost ate all of mine. They are LITERALLY a mom and pop place(husband and wife are owners). It’s pretty pricy, but well worth it! The husband told us that everything’s homemade. I think he said his wife bakes and does the sides and he does all the meats and grilling. I’m going back in the near future definitely.

Granny Dee’s is the real deal. This plane sits in the same place as the old Cisco’s Taqueria. The place has been somewhat remodeled. I ordered the fish plate with cabbage and mac & cheese. Everything tasted fresh. They don’t fry the fish until it’s ordered so it may take a bit of time to get your food — to me, it is worth it for the freshness. The staff is extremely friendly and the place is really clean. There are still a bunch of things on the menu that I would like to try so I will be going back. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone…

Oh my goodness that was some good food! Plenty of PROS: You must try the smothered Pork Chops. They are good enough to make a Vegan try Pork. Candied yams are just sweet enough with all of the right spices. Collard greens were spiced right and very flavorful. Mrs. Dee herself, sweet as can be. Southern hospitality at its finest. CONS: Today was a dry cornbread day(we’ve all had them) Tea was mixed tea, not brewed sweet tea(but that was what I was not expecting) OVERALL: Some of the best soul food that I’ve had and my mother is from North Carolina.

We couldn’t miss the signs announcing their opening. So we just had to give them a try. The place is not fancy, but really clean and comfy. Bottles of Louisiana hot sauce on the tables is a good sign of what’s to come. Super friendly Granny Dee took our orders for take-out. Immediately feels like we’re at an authentic down home kitchen. Ordered the fried catfish, oxtails with rice, fried okra, mac & cheese, mustard greens, and cabbage. We topped it off with sweet potato pie and German chocolate cake. We aren’t the least bit disappointed. Everything is flavored well and not heavy with oil. Tastes just like the homemade that it is! We’re glad that she’s in the neighborhood and hope that she’s here to stay!

We decided to try Granny Dee’s today. I was very excted about trying a new soulfood restaurant in the Spring area. However I was very disappointed. I’ve never eaten at a soul food restaurant that did not severe fried chicken. I wanted to leave then but decided to give them a try since I was inside. I ordered the smothered chicken with rice and gravy, mac and cheese and collard greens. The greens were salty, the macaroni and cheese tasted just like velveeta and the chicken was drowning in gravy. I couldn’t enjoy it. My sister ordered the oxtails. They were flavorful however whoever seasoned them were heavy on the pepper. Pluses– The customer service was excellent! Everyone inside was very pleasant and helpful.

OMG!!! I saw the sign one day while in traffic Granny Dee’s, but is was closed that day. The next week I told my husband lets try their desserts. I ordered the Italian cake and he ordered the pecan pie(this was a to go order). We got home and one bite of my cake I thought of my grandmother’s hummingbird cake. This cake is sooo good. My husband looked at me and said this is one of the best pecan pie ever!!! I tried the baked potato chopped beef it was good. I am going back and get a full dinner and desserts, and they have red velvet cake too. Mind you it’s going to be extra exercsing, but it will be worth it all. I recommend you to please try it for yourself personally five stars is not enough. When my out of town guests comes to visit me this will be the first Soul Food restaurant I am taking them to enjoy!!!

I’ve been coming here since they opened a couple months ago and I love it! They have consistently delicious food that tastes fresh and home made. The soul food is definitely the best. The ox tails are super tender and just a little spicy. My coworkers love the fried fish too. The staff are always friendly while taking orders. My only complaint would be that it takes a little too long to get the drinks to the table. Most of the time we get drinks with the food. I don’t normally write reviews, but I had to for Granny Dees. Their food is too good to let this gem get lost on Unilocal
