Remote Control Hobbies

Stopped in on a trip through. I’m so glad I did. They had a lot of stuff. I now want a nitro boat. The bearded genius behind the counter was super helpful. I will defiantly stop in anytime I’m in town. One of the best shops I’ve been in in a long while.

I’m giving these guys the benefit of the doubt and giving them 3 stars as opposed to the 1 star my recent experience would justify.
I’m trying to give more of my business locally if possible (hello my name is Tom and I’m an Amazon Prime junky!) so I went to this local Hobby show to pick up a servo for my son’s RC car. The first servo that the sales guy (12 year old) tried to sell me was $ 40 bucks! Um no… this car is 1980’s technology and does not require a $ 40 high torque servo… next…
We finally found a standard servo for $ 13.49. Perfect, Amazon has them for $ 11 but hey this is local so I decided to snag it. After getting home I had a look at the receipt (should have looked at it in the store… it would’ve saved me a trip back!) and low and behold I was charged 16.99 + tax! I support local but not local that rips me off… no thanks!
I returned it the next business day and was asked a bunch of questions (somewhat rudely) as to why I’m returning it but finally they refunded my $$. I’m hoping this is just a mistake but from now on IF I do business here I’ll be checking my receipt carefully before I leave.
Now excuse me while I fire up the Amazon app and order a $ 11 servo… it’ll be here In two days! :)

I too had a bad experience here. I bought a helicopter here based on the recommendation from one of the sales guys and could not get the pitch correctly so I trashed the rotors. I brought it back to get fixed and the owner in the overalls told me I shouldn’t have been sold that copter
because it was too advanced. It took them a month to fix it and cost me $ 30 and I asked the owner to demonstrate how to fly it and he was only able to get it off the ground for a second. I definitely won’t go back and recommend you take caution on what you buy here.

I dropped off my traxxas slash 4×4 on a Sunday because the speed control wasn’t working properly. The kid behind the counter seemed pretty confident he could fix it and after telling me it would be $ 20.00 (and that they would call to notify me if it would be anything more) I left it there for the night. No receipt no paperwork for me to take as I left my truck behind.
So the next day I called around noon to see what the status was. No one knew as the person who was going to work on it «had to go to school»… uh, what?!? I later received a call around 4:45pm telling me it was done and I could pick it up at anytime.
I went to pick it up the next day only to find out my bill had reached over $ 180.00. After telling him I never authorized this and have no intention of paying this amount he went and got the owner. Enter the overalls. So the owner was apologetic and handled the situation kind of well; he pulled the new speed control and reinstalled my original one like I asked. And then he said «we’ll just charge you $ 20.00, that sounds fair, right?» I still don’t understand why I didn’t blow up for expecting me to pay ANYTHING, but instead I said «whatever», my better judgment took control of me and I just paid it and got the hell out of there.
in the end I guess that’s what this review costs me. $ 20.00 and I will never step foot in your store again, and hopefully this is the first review for your place of business/​tom foolery.
