Very sad to hear that this place has closed down. I grew up in Spring and left 16 years ago to join the Marine Corps. I recently planned a trip home to visit my parents and all I could think about was ordering their legendary taco salad,(yes, they actually made an awesome taco salad) and decided to look them up on the internet to see how they were doing. I was heartbroken and jaw dropped to see that they closed down. The last time I was home(about three years ago) I was able to take my wife there while we were still dating and on our«meet the family» tour. We had a great time and the food was great. I have a lot of great memories at Strack’s and am sad to see it go. The peach and apple cobbler dessert was to die for!

Unfortunately, a landmark of Klein has now closed. During it’s heyday the 1980’s and before some of the best bbq around, and the chicken fried steak was amazing as well. Recently(last few years) the ownership changed and subsequently ran this place into the ground with subpar food and lousy service(a real disgrace). Soon this will be another add water and stir faceless neighborhood, with track houses. It’s a real shame that they didn’t take better care of Strack farms, it was a real gem. Enjoy your strip centers, and treeless neighborhoods, Klein used to be a very nice place to live this is just another reminder of it’s demise into obscurity. Thank you for all the wonderful meals and childhood memories Strack Farms, you will be missed.

Just found this place a month ago and have been to Strack Farms a few of times. The Special Burger(low carb) ½ lb. burger served over bed of lettuce, sauteed onions, tomato, and cheese, is wonderful. Great for a no-carb meal. The patty is a thin patty perfectly cooked with a nice Char so yo get a little crunch when you bite it. You have to try one of their burgers. The Gumbo for Soup of the day was a good gumbo, Doesn’t compare to Capt Benny’s or a good authentic Cajun gumbo but I will probably have it again. Bar-b-que Sandwich with chopped bbq was ok, but not my favorite. Maybe I too used to my BBQ. Good Fries I will Definitely be back

The food was cold and tasted old. We didn’t eat much of it but still managed to get food poisoning. Never again.

passed this place on Thursday and got somewhat nostalgic. reminded me of the country cooking establishments I was raised on. decided to give it a try today for lunch. I was disappointed. the food was bland and the buffet items appeared to have been bought at a grocery store. the atmosphere was right on and the service was good, but I would not recommend the food.

The chicken fried steak here is still my favorite. I’m knocking off a star because of the stale smoke smell in the dining area, but I stand by my original review. This is a great establishment: delicious food, reasonable prices, and friendly service.

I have been going or about a decade and the only thing I have ever gotten is the chicken fried steak. Gotta love it. Comes out in just a few minutes piping hot. Great prices too.

They have been open a long time and I have been here about five times over the past 10 years. I keep hoping it will get better or I will find something that I like here. In general, Stracks BBQ brisket is very dry and does not compare with other places within a few minutes drive. I tried their brunch once. Not bad but nothing special to bring me back. If I come back, maybe I wll try the breakfast items, baked chicken, or catfish. My suggestion is to go elsewhere. Try Rudys or County Line.

This place used to have the absolute best chili cheeseburger. About four years ago, I returned for the first time in a number of years. I tried to order it, and was told it was discontinued as they always ran out of chili. This is new business to me. Quit selling something because it sells out. The onion rings and everything I ate that night were sysco. It’s a shame nothing is fresh there anymore. I sure wish they would return to their roots and raise prices a bit.

I visited Stracks when I first moved to Houston, and I got a weird vibe when I entered the place. For the most part I felt everyone was looking at me and my friend because we were Asian, and the waitress wasn’t friendly at all. The food wasn’t even good, I could’ve gone to IHOP instead. I wouldn’t go here again.

This place has gone way down hill. Everything is off of a SYSCO truck so hold on to your colon kids. If Strack’s would use fresh produce from the FARMS around them they could turn the program around. So, if you enjoy consuming frozen foods packed with preservatives then this is the place for you!

This place is exactly what it looks like it’s going to be: Genuine. Whenever I go to a place of this ilk for the first time, if there’s a daily special, I order that. It seldom disappoints. There’s a special every day of the week, all listed on the menu. It’s classic Southern fare, well prepared and served in a friendly, efficient manner. The sweet tea is excellent: not too sweet and not too strong. I hope this place stays open forever – or at least as long as I live in the area!

My first visit was across town at Strack’s Thanksgiving Buffet which was a reasonable $ 14/pp. We got our money’s worth, no more. The bar’s just beyond the front entrance. To the right is the hostess stand; glass windows line the exterior walls on the right, which makes for a nice view if you’re in a table by the window(we were) and tables extend all around into a big room in the rear. Various food stations were in the raised areas up front: turkey, brisket and ham carved by a guy, then separate tables had vegetables, stuffing and gravy, breakfast items(eggs, bacon, ham, potatoes, sweet rolls), rolls, desserts, and a forgotten table of salad and condiments. I felt like I’d been to an organized family potluck. Many food items, esp if you like sweets and carbs, it is not healthy eating! The place is very casual; the setting, staff and most of the clientele were Country. We had good service. If given a healthier dining choice, I’d take it in a heartbeat.

I am a big fan of family-style country buffets, and for the price, this one didn’t disappoint. My stomach had 3 meals of BBQ the day prior, so I was hoping that this wasn’t all bacon and sausage for breakfast. And pleased I was. I definitely needed a meal that didn’t consist of pure meat with a side of meat with meat for dessert. $ 7 is a great deal here, for all the fresh fruit offered. Surprisingly, all the breakfast meats tasted normal. Breakfast sausage had that nice zip, link sausage wasn’t too fatty, bacon was nearly perfect, and the ham was a good country ham. Just keep in mind, you can’t expect amazing quality meat! The cheese omelet was tasty also. But the major surprises here were the fresh pineapple, fresh apples, fresh grapes, and fresh cantaloupe. Some high class brunches don’t even offer all these fruits fresh and whole cut. A great way to start the morning healthy. A great buffet all in all, good atmosphere, and definitely a place to get some pre or post church food. Somewhat scenic drive and out of the way.

For the life of me, I just don’t understand why this place stays open. None of the food here is good. Not even remotely good. I guess if you grew up on tasteless southern-style food, then this must be the place to eat. The people here are super-friendly, and service is definitely great, but at the end of the day, the food has to have some sort of flavor to keep me coming back. This just isn’t the place for me, I guess. Once upon a time, before all the suburban sprawl in the area, I’m sure Strack’s was the only place close by to have a meal. And although the selection of restaurants in the immediate vicinity is sparse, there are places that are better close by.

It’s always a refreshing experience to walk into a restaurant who’s décor was clearly not decided upon by committee. The menu is more of a suggestion than the rule and the waitstaff regularly take orders for«the usual» without blinking an eye. For lunch or dinner on any given day you could have among many things chicken fried steak, baked chicken, tuna salad or a catfish fillet. Your tea will be served to you in a glass jar and, whatever you order, it will probably be much more than you can eat in one sitting. But where Stracks’ really shines is their breakfast. The biscuits are hearty, eggs plentiful and gravy rich. Wake your friends and come early. As you drink your coffee, participate in what is quickly becoming a lost art in the urbanization of America: the morning gabfest. Sit amongst the young and old and discuss whatever is on your mind: local politics, High School sports, the weather. The topic doesn’t matter, it’s a means to the true purpose: community. Through laughter, arguments and simply just listening, these people haven’t forgotten the elemental value of simply being in community with others. No need for any other agenda except as a reward for getting out of bed. It wasn’t too long ago you had to head towards town from here just to reach what would be considered the«outskirts.» With new homes, shopping strips and retail banks popping up nearly overnight all around, Strack Farms remains stoic and dedicated to good food and great community.
