I have visited Zion many times but this was my first time stopping and looking inside Zion Rock & Gem after being so intrigued by the entrance adorned with glass, rocks, and minerals of all types. I’m impressed how affordable these rocks are compared to other shops around the area. I will definitely come back to visit.

Stopped by yesterday to look at some rocks. Young guy behind the counter was very friendly and knew a ton about all the stones. Cool place to stop while in Zion!

Loved this shop! We spent way too long looking for the perfect rocks to bring home! Loved the wide selection of Utah found rocks and rarities. We let our toddler pick out a geode and they cracked it open for us right there in the shop yard! It was awesome! And they have a «love your geode» rule that if the one you cracked open is a solid dud, you get to pick a different one.(The other shop doesn’t even try to open them for you!) We also picked up a lovely piece of petrified wood and a honeycomb quartz candle holder. Love love love!

Rock collectors this is the first shop you want to visit! After going to all the rock shops around Zion I ended up liking this one the best! Donna, the staff member there, really knew her stuff and was willing to go out of her way to help me with questions. I think this is the best for kids because they carry lots of nice small things for 50 cents to 2.50. I spent around $ 30 total when I went. This may seem like a lot but many of the items there I found were priced much better than the Zion prospector or other shops nearby –Charlie, rockhound/geology major

First off I gotta give props to the owners for displaying all the different sparkly colored glass rocks in front of the store. This alone is what drew me in. Although I am not one to collect these things along with the hundreds of other trinkets here, at least I got to check it out to see what its all about. Nothing really appealed to me but my wife found some nice necklaces and my youngest son wanted some some glass rocks as souvenirs. Why not? I said to them. Since we are not going to Zion again any time soon might as well right? The employees seemed very friendly and was always available for any questions. Some points to note: Be careful when your kids try to handle the glass rocks. Some of them have sharp edges and can really cut them bad. There are gloves provided strewn about. There is no customer bathroom. When you ask, they will direct to the Chevron which is down the street about a quarter mile. Reception here is very sketchy. I was able to check in once my phone got 1 bar. After that it died so I couldnt take any pictures of all the sparkly things. All in all, we spent a good hour there checking everything out. Now that I know what is there, chances are we wont be stopping by unless I have new people with me that has not been there yet. So I say, check it out. It might appeal to you differently then it did me. Unilocal 2015 review #15 514 overall

Kid has recently developed an obsession with crystals and rocks, so imagine her delight to see this display of various rocks outside at Zion Rock and Gem! We gladly stopped to shop and let her spend some allowance money. First let me say that I have never shopped for rocks before, and I suffered from some pretty serious sticker shock when I weighed some of these stones and discovered how much they were going to cost. I had my eye on one lovely green bowling-ball-sized rock(unpolished, uncut) only to discover it was going to run me over $ 50, at which point I put it back and started pulling Kid to the«small rock» section. Even here, the few rocks she collected in a small basket ended up costing her $ 30. So, maybe rocks are pricey and I just never knew that, but I still very much enjoyed looking around here. The coolest items are inside the store, where you will find some beautiful crystals and amazing fossils. They also have a lot of local sandstone items, which make for excellent souvenirs. I got a set of four sandstone coasters($ 20). I was a bit disappointed that the cashier(maybe the owner?) seemed disinclined to talk to us. I mentioned how much kid loved rocks and crystals, and rather than engaging her or teaching her something, he just grunted. Seems like when you run a small business in rural Utah and somebody expresses a strong interest, you might want to strike up a conversation. Overall, a very cool stop, but there are several other rock shops in the area that might be a bit cheaper and/or friendlier.

Neat roadside stop. Get out and stretch a bit and have a look around. If you want to look through the rocks please know it’s really glass so put on gloves that they will provide for you or getting cut is likely. The rocks(glass) is delivered from a company out of state. Kids would really enjoy this stop more than adults I think. You can pick your own geode to crack open and check out the gift shop goods they have for sale.

The man working here wasn’t friendly at all. Upon walking into the store we said hello and there was no reply. Then he proceeded to follow my husband and I around to the point he made us uncomfortable. Everything was overpriced. I finally got fed up and walked out. If I’m going to overpay for some rocks I won’t do it at this place.

We stopped in late in the evening and had fun browsing the many types of rocks, agate, glass pieces, and other souvenirs. I thought the rock and agate prices were reasonable. They are open to bargaining if you are buying several items. We were assisted by Cache(nephew of owner) who we found to be passionate for the business and a nice guy to deal with.

This is a cute little place on the side of the road. I always see different places selling rocks on the side of the road when passing through town, so I decided to stop by one and check out what the deal was with all the pretty colored rocks. The rocks are glass and you need to wear gloves when handling them. They have gloves laying on the different tables for you to use or you can ask a employee for help. Scales are on the tables too so you can weigh your rocks. They have several bins with geodes in them to choose from and they range in price. I picked one out for $ 6 that was supposed to be cut open by a employee. Too bad they were swamped with customers and only had one employee working, so I was left waiting by the cash register after I made my purchase. I didn’t want to wait around anymore and just left. I was happy enough with my roadside souvenirs, but wish they had more help to properly assist customers. They have not just stuff outside, but a small area inside and a door that takes you to an area out back to see more stuff they have. There is a table with different colored rocks in it where you can fill up a plastic container with the rocks for $ 5, so I picked out some of these small fake gems to scatter is some of my flower pots. There was also a cat sleeping on the table! I pet the kitty as I am sure most people do and the cat seemed very content on the pile of rocks. If you have kids, this would be a fun and inexpensive stop for them. I saw other kids having a great time petting the cat and skimming through all the different rocks and geodes. P. S. The employee told me that the pretty blue rocks that catch your eye from the road actually just come from a guy at a glass factory in Oklahoma. The blue glass rocks are pretty, but have so special tie to Utah.

Cool place with lots of cool items to look at and feel. Pricey but it’s exactly what you’d think and in the place it needs to be. The glass is just stuff they didn’t end up using but they’re charging full price for it! Ha but it’s pretty nice looking. Definitely make a stop and find something you like!

i like sparkly things… who doesnt? heading home after a weekend in zion, the sparkly blue glass caught me eye on the side of the road. granted, i thought it was something more unique that glass, but hey it got my attention to stop on by! glass, rocks, geodes, fossils, gems… and cutesy souvenirs made of such things. funt o look around and consider a little memento. i got some picture frames made for the red rock formations of utah that were on sale. but probably the coolest thing was being able to pick out an uncut geode for the employee to break open. they have bins and bins full of different kinds in different sizes ranging from as little as $ 7(?) and up depending on how big you want it. they also guarantee you will get something pretty inside or you can pick another. with samples on the table across from the bins, you are able to get a feel for what the different ones will look like inside. mine came out very cool! it was also fun watching him cut it open in eager anticipation.

Rocks are pretty. Buy a souvenir for the kiddies. Fossilized shark teeth, big chunks of glass, rocks. and get some petrified wood, before it’s all gone/scarce. It takes millions of years to make that shite and they sell it for 5 bucks a chunk.

Not that anyone is likely to read a Unilocal review on a rock shop in Springdale, UT; but here goes. Nice cat. Nice rocks. Use cash. My wife and I both got our credit card numbers stolen while here on our honeymoon. I know it was Zion Rock & Gem place because it was the only place that both of us used our credit cards while on vacation.
