If you need an allergy doctor, go see Dr. Gesicki-Wood and her staff. The end. Well, not really, I’ll explain, but seriously, don’t even look around. Just go there. Best friend has been seeing her for a couple of years now, and after my last sinus infection, when I finally decided that I’d had enough of allergies and sinus troubles and nothing working to fix it, I asked her for her doc’s info, because she’d spoken highly of her. I had no idea. It took a few weeks to get a new patient appointment, which seems to be typical for any doctor these days. When I arrived, I was greeted by a friendly staff and only waited a few minutes before I was brought back for testing. I really like Dr Gesicki-Wood — she’s friendly, personable, always smiling, and genuinely seems to care about getting to know her patients. Excellent bedside manner, if you will. Everything went as you would expect, until it came time to draw blood for a lab test Dr Gesicki-Wood wanted to do. I have a history of passing out, which I shared, but since it was only supposed to be 2 vials, I wasn’t too concerned about it. Apparently I should have been. When I came to, Dr Gesicki Wood, Carol, Lindsey, and Kelly were all standing over me. Dr Gesicki Wood stayed in the room for a good 10 minutes, even keeping a patient waiting until she made sure I was OK. Kelly stayed with me until I was ready to actually leave, which ended up being a good forty minutes, at least. And the next day, I got a call from Carol to make sure I was alright.(And yes, I was fine. It happens. I just needed sugar.) I went back a couple of days later for take 2 of the blood draw(which went just fine, thank you very much!), and to get my first shot. They run an efficient shot clinic, and other than the 20 minute wait they require after shots to make sure that everything is OK, you don’t wait. Just show up during business hours for shots, no appointment necessary. And they have a big tub of lollipops on the counter. I already had a positive impression of the practice based on word of mouth and my interaction with the staff in normal ways, but their actions following my passing out secure in stone the fact that I will recommend them to anyone who needs an allergist. Of course, I’m also now known in the office as the lady who fainted. But I’ll take it.
