Chicken wings are amazing but kinda pricey come out to about a dollar a wing. Phở is not that great because of the broth. Not sure if the broth was reheated or just not fresh but they didn’t have the scent of phở. Overall I would recommend the chicken wings and the beef Thai fried rice! The fried rice has a little kick to it

Just as everyone has been saying. The butter fried chicken wings are delicious and definitely worth trying out. I usually get the Vermicelli with pork strips, shrimp, and egg rolls and it never disappoints

Although food is good. Service is terrible. You have to wait for them to get you silverware, wine glasses. They don’t have enough people to serve. They have the owner’s daughter whom you never know what mood she is in. Tonight she was downright rude. Who cares that she was going to party and had to come in. Not my monkey, not my circus. And we’ve been coming here a long time. That is it! We are done. We are eating at Vin Chautauqua and service is great! You’re treated as guests, not bothersome relatives.

The chicken wings were very good. The phở good, not great. The broth seemed a little weak on flavor. Not alot of sliced beef/tendon/meatballs. Portion was good. Definitely try this place. I enjoyed watching«Olivia» with their daughter(?), on the TV inside the restaurant, no joke, I liked it!

This restaurant is absolutely worth eating in. The environment is not the classiest, but the food is amazing. I really recommend the Vietnamese egg rolls which are delicious and addictive. If you can overlook the appearance, you will eat well.

Their fried chicken is like crack. I am giving them 4 stars just for that. Never had anything like it– peppery, crunchy, but not too greasy, deep fried goodness. The phở is decent. Summer rolls are yummy. I would agree with another reviewer to stick to the Vietnamese foods. The Chinese food is below mediocre– brother in law had some sort of lo mein or chow mein which was pretty gross. The service was slow, because there was one server for the entire place and there was one huge family that was seated right before us, with all their five kids who were screaming and crying and basically making a huge ruckus. Pretty small, hole in the wall type place. But that fried chicken– yes.

This place is nothing special as I had hoped for. The customer service was absolutely disappointing and worst I’ve had. The waiter only checked on us twice… and that was to give us the check and the food. I had to raise my hand multiple times to refill water, but he never came by. My best friend instead handed me his water. He probably forgot about us, because I had to come over and pay for the bill. There was only two other tables too, barely a rush! The phở was okay. BUT, the butter chicken wings are the BEST! The are like crispy goodness! They melt off like nothing. It’s just so good and I can now understand the rave about it. But next time, I’ll stick to takeout.

Everything I’ve ever tried here I really like. Stick to the vietnamese menu items and you will not be sorry that you came. Very fresh and is real treat. The staff is super friendly, and is always happy to see you.

Cute, small and clean family run spot. No frills, just good food. I ordered the Phở which was yummy. I asked if the broth could be extra hot because I’m not a fan of the raw beef. The gentleman told me that he couldn’t make the broth any hotter just give me a bigger bowl. He practically brought me a cauldron of soup. lol. It tickled me. I’ll be back.

Just off the«X» in Springfield on Belmont Street is the Bamboo House. Vietnamese and Szechuan cooking. Well worth the visit. My last visit I had the following: Egg rolls are served with lettuce, mint, and a dipping sauce. Wrap your eggroll in the lettuce and mint. What a great change of flavor. Wings. Absolutely fantastic. Crispy, salty, so tasty. Phở. Pick any bowl with noodles. You cannot go wrong. Great traditional flavors. Ambiance. This is a family/diner style place. Young kids are usually there, playing in a booth, or running around a bit. If you are looking for a quite romantic place, this probably isn’t going to fit the bill. Keep your ears open for the ever present«YO». The server yells this every time she walks into the kitchen. Never ceases to crack me up. Hard working dedicated family.

AWESOME place. Its always tough to get legit phở in New England. This place has great phở. I always stay away from the tendon in my phở since its usually a chore to chew and swallow-but my friend said it was good here. He was right. It was so tender and melts in your mouth. I was staying in the area for two weeks and come back a second time. The spring/egg rolls are also GREAT. They give you freshly washed lettuce to wrap them in and the cold lettuce with the freshly fried rolls is an awesome combination. A dive for sure, but HIGHLY recommended. VERYREASONABLE.

I crave their Salt and Pepper Shrimp, but the shrimp with veggies and basil, and the tofu dishes are excellent too. The veggie spring rolls are crispy and the serving of 8 is plenty. It’s BYOB. Every time we dine here we get the check and say«why don’t we eat here more often?» Never been disappointed and always leave full.

So we came here last night for dinner because my fav Vietnamese restaurant in the area is closed on Tuesdays, and I felt I needed to try the much raved about chicken wings that I have been reading so much on Unilocal. When we walked in, I immediately noticed there was only one guy who was managing the restaurant — taking orders, serving food, getting the bill etc. There were quite a number of tables filled up, so as you can expect, service was a little slow. This is a BYOB place. We brought a bottle of wine and the waiter was observant enough and brought us two wine glasses the minute we sat down. SCORE. My bf was rather impressed. We ordered the chicken phở and the chicken wings. The waiter actually alerted us that the chicken phở comes in regular broth, which had beef in it and asked if we wanted to have the regular broth or the chicken broth(which had no beef in it). This is the first time we have ever had anyone informed us that, and we go to Vietnamese restaurants like, all the time! I was actually impressed and appreciated that information he provided. We ordered the chicken broth version. Chicken wings here is GOOD! Believe all the hype you read about, it’s all true. The only downside I realized is that the wings are coated with ALOT, ALOT of MSG. How do I know this? I went home later that evening and found myself thirsty throughout the night. I don’t usually eat a lot of food with MSG, so my body system always reacts whenever I have something that has too much MSG. And this is exactly what happened to me after I devoured that plate of wings, well, almost the whole plate. As for the chicken phở, my bf likes it. The only downside is we both wished they had chili oil instead of the usual siracha which is really just more sodium than chili. I am giving this place a 4 star because both my bf and I really appreciate the service they provided. In fact, it was so good that my bf decides to leave a big tip behind. And we usually don’t tip beyond 15−20%. Oh, and when we left, I accidentally left my winter hat behind and the guy came running out in the cold just as we were about to drive away. Another win in my book. Definitely coming back here again. We are won over by the service.

Hands down, BESTEGGROLLS in the ENTIREWORLD! I always get the regular meat eggrolls with the vegetarian sauce. I was introduced to this place when I was a homesick student attending UMASS Amherst and have fallen in love since. I live in the Boston area but still come out here for their eggrolls and chicken wings from time to time. If you’re with a big party, I strongly suggest getting the Canh Chua Ca Salmon and the Salmon Kho Tho. For my vegetarians, they also have great vegetarian food. On my non-meat days, I’d have their vegetarian eggrolls and their Dau Hu Kho Tho. I wish they would branch out and open one in Boston… salivating as I write =)

CHICKENWINGS were good. it had a unique taste to it and it wasn’t drenched in grease although it still is fried and i’m not a fan of fried foods. the downside is that it’s pricey. i believe around $ 12 for around 8 wings. PHO was the same as any other place. SPRINGROLLS were the same as any other place. CHICKENRICEPLATE was good but it was veerrry sweet so they need to tone down the sugar. we went when there were no other customers and it still took 25 mins to get our food. i didn’t like that too much. PLUS, they wouldn’t turn up the AC. it felt around 79 degrees. i guess they want more people before they turn it up. this was the only thing the bothered me about this place. service was friendly and although the building was old they maintain it well. overall, it’s not overly different from other vietnamese restaurants but it’s a place that worth trying.

It’s been nearly a decade now since I have moved away from my mother and her side of the family. With that said, I am VERY picky when it comes to properly spiced, garnished, and prepared Vietnamese dishes. From your«meat and potatoes» per se, to more elaborate meals like phở, bun bo hue, bun rieu, or even spring rolls — I am very particular, and I know what I want. Hartford county has a very poor and pathetic selection of what I would consider delicious and authentic Vietnamese cuisine. It seems that everywhere I’ve gone — many places don’t seem to care and or are to willing serve msg-laden foods. Having grown up around it, I am very sensitive to that stuff. Let’s be real, it makes me sick and it really is the bane to my foodie existence. However, I will admit that if I ABSOLUTELY must/crave phở, then I will stop by Phở 501 in East Hartford. The menu, location, parking and family are great but it could be so much more. /endrant This is where Bamboo House of Springfield comes in. I came here with my Mom ironically enough when she wasn’t in the mood to cook. And, ever since that lazy date, it’s been smooth glutinous sailing. I will proudly say that their: spring rolls, com suon bi cha, muc xao, bo luc lac, bo nuong lui, hu tieu, and phở; it’s as good as it gets gang. «Almost like Mom made it» and she’ll even admit, it’s her favorite place to go to. OH, and how can I forget about the coffee?! Parking is to the side and in front of the building/plaza and it can be very limited, prices are consistent with the portion and quality of the food(no surprise bill here) and the staff is always more than willing to explain/elaborate what the dishes are(my guests tend to ask good questions hehe) If you have been apprehensive and or anxious to try Vietnamese(I wouldn’t ever understand why, because EVERYTHING is delicious) stop by for a spring roll, or 5 and enjoy :)

What a wonderful little gem! Thank you, fellow Unilocalers, for putting this place on our radar. The vibe was neighborhood-family-friendly, with Sponge Bob on the corner tv and a little Buddha shrine on the floor against one wall. The interior shows effort, but still has a little funkiness… which is something I happen to appreciate. The food was great across the board. We started with fresh shrimp rolls and an order of THE wings. All I can say about that is BELIEVETHEHYPE. There is something strange and intoxicating about these wings. I couldn’t quite put my finger on the mix of flavors… the richness of butter, the bite of black pepper, lots of garlic, some spice, some sweetness(maybe from the onions?). They are served with sauteed onions, red peppers and herbs which were delicious and, while it sounds so simple, they really added a terrific dimension to the wings. The order is huge and despite having some of it wrapped, my appetite was pretty much killed by the time our entrees came. For mains, I got the phở dac biet and Ryan got a chicken/mint/basil/veggie stir fry served with white rice. The phở broth was rich and delicious, and I am very much looking forward to hitting the remaining 80% of it which is currently calling me from my fridge :) Ryan’s spicy chicken was similarly wonderful, and it will be fun to sample more of the menu on future visits… though I gotta be honest, I can already tell that it will be hard to deviate from the wings and phở… The only thing that kept me from giving five stars was the service. While definitely friendly, it was really, really slow. There were only a couple of tables besides ours, but it still took forever to place our orders and the wait for our apps had us dipping my phở garnish bean sprouts(which came first) into various condiments to tide us over. At one point, Ryan grabbed a fortune cookie from the front counter. Admittedly, we arrived with stomachs rumbling and it’s entirely possible that the wait would not have felt particularly significant had we not already been in a beyond-starving state! I’ll be more than happy to update if our next visit warrants a fifth star… and there most definitely will be a next visit!

Bamboo House was a solidly brick building that screamed«Northeast.» Inside, it could be described as a cozy, rustic Asian diner. It definitely had history and character. We sat in a booth and had a quick look at the menu. The first page made me chuckle a little–«We would like to extend our warmest welcome you to Bamboo House.» Aside from the«we’re trying» English, the dishes«that you may not have seen them before» were all items pretty standard for a California-bred Vietnamese like me. Seeing that, I thought, that’s how you know you’re in Springfield! Phở here ranged from $ 7.25−7.75, one size fits all. I had my usual phở tai nam again, and it came out before long. This phở was decent. The broth was pretty good, a little on the bland side, but still savory enough to save itself from my wrath. Nothing special, though. The meat and noodles met my approval, and it’s never a bad thing to have a bowl of hot noodle soup when it’s 20 degrees outside. Overall, not bad, but not worth recommending.
