El Morro Bakery and Restaurant

The only good thing about this place was the service. Rice was rubbery and salty, the pork fried chunks were also a bit salty and greasy.

This place has one of the best Puerto Rican food. The service is great and very friendly. It feels like family dinner.

I visited Springfield this summer for a short vaca and decided to look online for good places to eat when I came across this restaurant, which had good reviews on more than just this site. I was excited! Unfortunately, where I live, PR food is a rarity — other than my own — so I don’t get to enjoy some of the foods I love (but are too laborious to make myself) as often as I’d like — like alcapurrias! Alcapurrias (and pasteles) are by far my favorite PR foods and I will jump at ever opportunity to have them (I know, I’m obsessed… don’t judge me). I went in at about 3:30pm and was pleased to find it wasn’t packed as a lot of reviewers have noted (avoid the lunch hours, if possible). I ordered a large to-​go plate of white rice, red beans, pollo asado (sorry, don’t know how to translate it) and OF COURSE alcapurrias. With that, I got a free medium drink and paid only $ 13.35! Wowzers! Not only did I get what I came for (yes, my beloved alcapurrias — which were great by the way), but I paid only $ 13, got a free drink AND had enough food to serve my son and I and still have leftovers! Oh, and did I say the food was great? Of course I did! I will definitely be back anytime I’m in the area!

I love their food !! Freshly made to order but I hate the customer service ! The women that work their have to manners and are very unprofessional !! I called today and they had me on hold for 10 min !!! Talkin Spanish and laughing in the background ! Then I called back three times and didn’t get an answer very disappointed ! Ruined my day because I was hungry and I felt like is was ignored and I go there atleast twice a week !! Defiantly need to talk to the manager because they need way better staff that knows a thing or two about customer service smh !! I know the guy that if think runs it is very pleasant but other than that oh no they need new staff all new staff !

I absolutely have fallen in love with this place. The food is amazing, the staff are friendly and pleasant, and it has a nice relaxed atmosphere. I had the Morongo w pernil and it was heaven. My friends were happy w their plates as well. I’m so returning! !!
