Wayyy better then one on sunshine, Surprised actually because you can’t tell from looks of it. Manager was some cute old man super friendly, servers were friendly, salsa still nasty though lol

I guess you have to have grown up or gone to school here to like it. Just weird. Don’t bother

Keep in mind I am new to the area. I cannot say this food tasted bad as it did not have any taste at all. I usually always read Unilocal reviews before trying a new place but we were driving around town today and decided to try this place without any preconceived notions, as soon as we walked in we both regretted this decision. We paid 16 dollars for a burrito that my 14yo could make better at home and 2 tacos that the best tasting part was to tomatoes. I can not believe this place is still in business.

Best memories as a teenager is going to Springfield && then finishing off the evening with Mexican Villa! I hadn’t been in several years — actually over a decade. My Aunt whom grew up in the same town I did(Hartville) had mentioned going here as a teenager as well. So accompanied by my brother an his family we all decided to check it out an see if it was still as we remembered. How in the world could you forget the burrito enchilada style? Droooooooooooooooooooooling just thinking about it. Covered in warm enchilada sauce & cheese?! BESTTHINGEVER! An I actually love their sweet salsa. Although living in KC, MO – I definitely favor a more authentic salsa full of cilantro & lime juice. So glad we stopped in!

Eh. Got some tacos and they were awful in my opinion but all my friends seemed to really like their food and the waiter was very friendly and helpful so I’d be willing to go back and try something else if my friends wanted to go back. Only problem is the menu is pretty small.

Worst food ever. Hot sauce!!! no telling where it came from. Ordered beef burrito enchilada style really just a bean burrito rolled up with beans less than a tablespoon of meat in it. Sauce was bad terrible flavor. This place has no idea what real Mexican taste like.

Meh… husband loves the burrito enchilada style. I still haven’t found anything I like on the menu. I’ve tried the burrito enchilada style, didn’t care for it. The nachos are horrible as was the taco salad. Everything had a sweet«after taste» for lack of better explanation. Even just a taco tastes like the meat has sugar added to it. I don’t want sweet tasting mexican food. They have a sweet salsa that’s awful and even the mild has a sweet taste to it. I avoid the salsa completely. Plus, we went tonite and 6 days after Christmas they’re still playing Christmas music. Make. It. Stop. I dislike Christmas music before Christmas but it makes my ears bleed after.

We loved having the mini jukebox at the tables. The food was plentiful, and good. Nothing spectacular. We’d come for their special, which both my friend and I ordered. I just wasn’t impressed. Not much flavor, far too much cheese. The salsa was spicy, but tasted like tomato paste not salsa. The cheese sauce was quite good. The guacamole was very good — I liked the touch of paprika sprinkled over the top.

I came here with my dad 30 years ago and as a kid, rarely exposed to anything Mexican, if at all, I loved it. My dad and I always Burrito Enchilada. It is good Texmix. American version of Mexican. However, after going to Mexico and having authentic Mexican food, I got spoiled and can’t call«Mexican Villa» Mexican food. I like their food and I’m ok with the ambiance. Chips are fresh and their salsa is hot. My dad and I used to have contests on who could eat the most without finishing their glass of water. Lol.

Tiny and crowded and delicious. This is the one you want to hit out at least once in your life. After this, you are a real veteran of Mexican Villa.

Great food! This is such a rare place in the country! It is a 1950s American take on Mexican food. It is not authentic but it is not suppose to be. Such great food and service.

Great food ! their hot sauce is the bomb. I go to Springfield on a regular basis. Stop and eat every time I am there. I take two jars of hot sauce home every time I go.

I love this place. I grew up eating here. My wife thought I was crazy that this was one of the places I have to eat at every trip to Springfield, but now she likes it too. Sancho or burrito enchilada style are the best. I like the tacos and cheese enchiladas, too. The hot sauce is an acquired taste, but it’s all part of the Villa experience. I won’t go to the other locations, national is the only way to go. All of you that write bad reviews just don’t understand what a gem this place is.

I’m really not sure what everyone finds so great about this place. I tried it once because a few people raved about it. The first time, I didn’t like it. I tried it again a few years later and my opinion didn’t change. The staff were friendly. I just didn’t care for the food. If you ask me, it was average. There are plenty of better Mexican restaurants in town.

What’s not to love about this place. It’s a Springfield staple. If you want authentic Mexican food, don’t eat here. It’s complete Tex Mex and amazing. Can’t go wrong with Burrito enchilada style. The prices are cheap and the food is great.

This is a great place to go for a quick lunch. If you’re expecting an «authentic» Mexican food experience, you might be slightly disappointed as the fine folks here serve up some good ol Tex-Mex cuisine. The atmosphere is welcoming, and it is clear that many of the patrons are regulars. The staff is always pleasant and polite, and the speed at which your food comes out is always impressive. The food won’t blow you away, but it’s definitely something you’ll find yourself craving at some point. My go to has always been three tacos, which I drench in the sweet sauce. They have a mild sauce, a sweet sauce and on the table there is a jar of their spicy salsa, so don’t be deterred if you’re not a fan of sweet sauce. Definitely a place to check out if you’re going to be in Springfield for a while.

Mexican Villa is about as authentic mexican as Cashew Chicken is authentic Chinese but these are my first 2 stops when come to Springfield. The burrito enchilada style from Mexican Villa tastes like good times. The tacos are good as well, something about the lettuce, love the guacamole and OMG apple pie with melted cheese! There is a jukebox on the table, cheesy sombreros on the wall and they only serve 3.2 beer. The service is sweet and friendly just like the sauce on the table. They have not change one thing in this place for about 50 years. My cousin makes her own enchiladas but uses their sauce. Its good enough for Brad Pitt and its good enough for me. We have been eating here since before we were born.
