Sad and Super disappointing this year. What happened to Pride of the Fox? I thought it was strange when we noticed the town was like a ghost town both Saturday and Sunday… been living in st Charles since 1985 it was always the highlight of the summer. As we walked into Pottawatamie Park you could overhear others saying what we were thinking«this used to be filled with people» There was just a handful or two of people compared to previous years. Yes the weather plays a big role. Just felt bad for the merchants who count on this festival each year!

This used to be one of our favorite festivals to go to. But, we were told that, due to rainy weather, they lost a lot of money at the 2015 festival. This year(2016) the festival was MUCH smaller. They still have the water skiing show, the dragon boat races and the carnival. But that is pretty much it. This is perhaps 75−80% smaller than it used to be. Hope they can eventually figure out a way to make this a big festival again.

Fun times in downtown St. Charles! Carnival rides, food, vendors, dragon boat races ~ all spread out around different sites. What’s not to love?

$ 18 for my three boys to go in the petting zoo!!! Another $ 14+ for them to go on a little train around the park. What is happening? Why are there no cost controls?! I live in St. Charles, I love St. Charles. I do NOT love feeling like I am getting hosed in my own town, in front of our beautiful little church no less.

Totally had a rockin time last night(6−10−11)! Enjoyed the amazing guitar work of homewreckers jamming down to Prince and Jimmi Hendrix. That was followed by some of the most amazing rockin” blues by Howard and the White Boys! Wow! These guys rock! The stage was located right next to Chord on Blues which we are looking forward to stopping by sometime soon to hear what they offer. Great town with a huge array of bars and dining. something for everyone. We’ll be going back today for 7th Heaven and to hopefully check out the rest of the fest. Be warned — the beer available at the fest is aweful — miller or miller lite :( But you can stop into any of the bars for some good brew.

After dragging J here last year, I will have to do my best to see if I can get him to go again. Let’s just say the cover band music that was playing was not his taste. Cover bands of 80’s Mullet Rock was not his idea of a good time. I personally didn’t mind. I grew up with older brothers, so a little Bön Jovi didn’t faze me. The thing I like about St. Charles is all the little outdoor festivals and parades that they seem to have all the time and they’re fun to go to. They seem to have a parade for every occasion down Main Street. Food smells wafting through the air with vendors selling some good looking food and some good looking food that’s native to the Chicago land area, stuff that pales in comparison(sometimes) when I find it in MN. The area is quaint around the local bars and we didn’t have to pay for parking. There isn’t a damn meter on every block, in fact I don’t recall seeing any meters period. It’s like one big outdoor block party with food, music and lots of people. Fun event in June right along the river. I wish I lived closer.
