The design aesthetic of the furnishings at Ciel is eclectic and unique. Think bygone Chinese décor meets trendy/industrial modern reclaimed wood pieces, which is completely up my alley. Each piece is stylish in a ‘raw’ and ‘untouched’ way, nicely-made, and has its own story. I visited twice. The first time, I was awestruck by the Asian-inspired cinnabar colored buffet and the Wes Anderson’s «The Grand Budapest Hotel» looking card catalog/ancient Chinese medicine drawers(useful for storing crafts, wine, or whatever you want). The second time, I fell in love with a simple cream, tufted chaise and majestic, wooden shoji screens. However, being new to the furniture shopping scene, I went in mindlessly without knowing the dimensions of my room or any clue what I would do with these pieces. The staff gladly gave me ideas and wrote down the dimensions. They were informative and provided me the background of each piece, but did not pressure me to make an impulsive purchase. Bottom line: Shop at Ciel for one-of-a-kind, reasonably priced pieces that will have your visitors saying, «Where did you buy that? I want to go there!»

Beautiful and creative furnishings and décor items for home. Eclectic mix of worldly creative & artistic finds and creations. They are amazing — constantly adding new items and rearranging what they do have. It is always a treat to go in there and they do have good sales. It’s a good place to find an investment piece of furniture, rug or lamp and they also have very affordable accessories for the home. That whole strip of stores on Excelsior is full of creative and unique finds.

Ciel reminds me a little of Nadeau, but a bit larger and easier to navigate. The furniture comes from all over the world and the stock ranges from décor accents to big refurbished wood farm tables. I wasn’t looking for anything in particular(curiosity brought me in after a trip to Guild), but the person working at the time was very nice and informative about the shop, which opened up in the last year. Ciel is a solid furniture alternative to chain stores like World Market. I think my taste is little more modern(and they DO have some more modern styled pieces), but if you are into the shabby chic look, you’re in luck. This place will be full of treasures for you.
