Banh Mi Boba Tea & Creperie

Visited BBC before the renovation & had a wonderful sausage pizza crêpe — the staff was nice and the crêpe was fantastic … HOWEVER. I visited with the intent to hookah most recently.
It was around 10 on a saturday night when a few friends and I decided to go for hookah. We were close to the CWE and a friend recommended BBC for hookah. BAD IDEA! When we arrived all the tables were full but I still had to use the restroom. The hostess said that the bathrooms were only for paying customers. I intended to wait and pay for a hookah as well as eating there. I walked back to the restroom — it was an emergency as the hostess tried to block the door. A customer walked out and I walked in and proceeded to use the restroom as the hostess had someone open the door while I was in there! WTH? Extremely rude and offensive staff!

Can’t really call yourself a Banh Mi place when you no longer serve it! It’s too bad because they were pretty decent even if it took forever to make one (which i couldn’t understand because all you do is throw the ingredients on the sandwich and serve it!).
Now Mai Lee serves all my banh mi needs.

Just got bubble tea from there — it’s more like a super sweet strawberry slushy with undercooked/​frozen boba, no tea invovled. I don’t know what happened, they used to be good.
We had to annoy the guy at the counter until he got off his computer to serve us, after which he proceeded to make this slushy monstrousity.
Poor service, bad food.

cool-​looking little spot on euclid with an inviting atmosphere. service is friendly but slow as hell. lots of good-​sounding japanese items on their menu that you probably can’t get almost anywhere else in stl.
review is based only on boba tea. standard.

My friend and I split a pork and a lamb banh mi. The pork was tasty (enough), but waaaay too fatty. The lamb taste (and texture) was like bad fake-​gyro-​meat-​product.
The promise of Banh Mi lured me here. Until now, I’d never felt full, yet so utterly unsatisfied in my life.
Bubble tea was mediocre.
If I find out my dining companion that night ever hooks up with (what he thought was) the cute waitress — and I’m talking a whole range of kinky/​freaky sex acts that leave him exhausted for days — I’ll consider giving Banh Mi Boba Tea & Creperie a second star for service.

I’ve been to this restaurant three times because their menu has a lot of my favorite items, but I’ve been disappointed a few too many times.
Their banh mi sandwiches are pretty good — I had the one with pork bbq. It came with Doritos, which were also good.
Everything else I’ve had there has been bad to terrible. The vegetarian summer rolls were sloppily rolled with boring veggies, their black bean noodles were completely unpalatable, and when I ordered ramen, I had to wait almost forty minutes for what turned out to be Shin brand instant ramen. For those of you unfamiliar with authentic ramen, I would recommend Seki’s ramen on the loop.
I can’t say if their tea’s good or not, but I won’t be back to try.

I miss the old Banh Mi Boba and don’t care for many of the changes they’ve made. I stopped in last night and got a crêpe which was on special for $ 5. It was a good value, but the server never brought the side salad I ordered and wasn’t around to refill my water glass. My bubble tea had way too much ice in it.
They are consistently short-​staffed — it seems like there is only 1 person working in the entire restaurant at any one time. I wish they would have just kept it a more casual, order-​at-​the-​counter type of place, because they don’t seem equipped for the bistro format. If it isn’t broke don’t fix it!

I stumbled upon this place and its community because my cable had not been setup yet since I had moved into my new apartment. It was the NBA Finals, and I needed to see the Magic destroy the Lakers (too bad that didn’t happen). I stumbled into this restaurant because the game was being broadcast while walking past.
I hadn’t eaten yet, and since I am always open for suggestions, I tried their bibimbap. The price was just right, and so was the food. I enjoyed the people there as well. They were nice and friendly, as were the staff. Though there were more Lakers than Magic fans, we all got along well and had a great time enjoying the game.
It took two trips to become a «regular» there, as the staff remembered me and I felt really welcome. By the third game in the series, I had cable and could have very well watched it at home, but for some reason I found myself walking down Euclid towards BBC, excited about relaxing with the people there just as much as watching the game.

I haven’t had bubble tea since I moved back to St. Louis, and I don’t remember the little boba balls being so bland. But the caramel milk tea that the bobas came in was amazing. I ended up wanting my drink boba-​less.
I went with a party of four on a Friday night. Being the CWE and this wasn’t a «sit-​down» restaurant with waiter service and a full bar, we had our pick of the place and even managed to play Chinese checkers while we ate our food!
Good things: this place had the cutest art on the walls (
). I call it cute because it was done in a very simple, vibrantly colored way and the pictures were really funny and great. I hope they always put up new art by different people. I’d go back just to look at that. Also, the staff was friendly, there were tons of choices (almost too many) of drinks to try, and the bathroom was really clean. Also, there was a lady customer there working on her laptop who told us that she loved this place and she was addicted to it.
Bad things: it took a reeeeally long time to get our food, and it all came out at different times. I had something with soba noodles, and it was ok. My husband had the philly steak crêpe and it was incredible. Our friend got the curry chicken but said it didn’t have much flavor, and her husband got the sushi pizza and said it was amazing. Another bad thing, I think this place is slightly overpriced.
This place was awesome for hanging out in a fun atmosphere and getting some game time in. I may not go back for more food, but I will definitely go back for some more drinks. And tempt myself with cute art to buy.

The crepes are so-​so. The banh mi’s are atrocious! The secret sauce has Sriracha sauce in it. I ordered one without the jalapeño & didn’t expect a burn in my mouth. Nevertheless, I won’t be getting my banh mi’s from this place anymore. The strawberry slushie was full of artificial strawberryness. YUCK!

Wow, it’s lunch time already? Let’s see… what’s there in the CWE? I’m tired of burgers. I don’t feel like spending $ 10 for a sandwich I could get anywhere. And I really don’t want a foot-​long piece of stale bread stuffed with luke-​warm processed meat and some wilted lettuce, even if does only cost $ 5.
That’s where BBC comes in. It has a pretty good-​sized menu with plenty of variety. All the savory crepes are delicious (I think I had tried them all in less than 2 weeks) and the banh mis, rice, and noodle dishes are pretty tasty too. They’re even adding sushi pizza (in a couple days)! Somehow I still haven’t tried the sweet crepes yet, but seeing as how they’re open pretty late, it won’t be long before I do.
Oh yeah, and most of the crepes are under $ 5. So, next time you want to avoid waiting in a long line only to be glared at by an employee who can’t believe you didn’t know they were out of wheat bread, head over there.

This place is spectacular!
This funky little Asia-​phile eatery (it’s cool, because the people that work there are Asian) in the Central West End offers a lot more than its Delmar Loop counterpart, St. Louis Bubble Tea.
BMB’s menu includes udon and ramen noodles (with toppings at an additional cost) some great appetizers and crepes. Their drink menu is a long list of fruit juices, coffees, and teas that can be combined with tapioca balls, better known as boba.
I wish someone would start serving flavored boba. That would be cool… and definitely besides the point.
I ordered a Thai Milk Tea, which was super refreshing and delicious. I wanted to order another. But then my beef crêpe was served to go. It had grilled beef that was actually tender, mozza, spinach, garlic and some sauce… Unfortunately my crêpe included a leaf of iceberg lettuce.
Warm lettuce… so gross.
However, I decided to pick it out and enjoyed the tasty (and surprisingly plentiful) meal in Forest Park. Quite enjoyable.
Oh yeah, while I waited for my meal, one of the employees took some water out to my dog. It’s the little things that matter. Crepes matter too.

Its nice to have a place in the CWE that isn’t trying to rape your wallet. I have only eaten here once, but i was pleased. I had the unagi crêpe w/​no chese (cheese and eel don’t seem to go together to me). It was super good! I wanted another! I plan on going back and trying more. They just expanded, so there is much more space… check it out!

I expect my cities to have late night dining options, and st. louis doesn’t really. banh mi is probably as close as we’ll get. its near to my boyfriend’s apartment so if we decide at 10:30 that we need bubble tea, we can have it. I’ve only gotten drinks and crepes there, except the first time when I got a gyro which was delicious. I’ll definitely be back!

I had a basic strawberry, banana, nutella and ice cream crêpe, it was good but nothing compares to Bino’s in Coronado, CA. My cousin had the red bean ice cream. It was good even if you don’t like red bean. Indoor seating is not too bad but outdoor seating is very limited. Too bad though because on a nice day, it’s fun to people watch.

I’m super picky about crepes. And crepes, these ain’t. I’ve seen this variation of a crêpe at «mr crêpe» in Cambridge, MA. And I didn’t like it there either. It confused and kind of insulted me at once. Furthermore the bubble tea here is usually too sweet. However, the tapioca balls in them are kind of perfection. Right density. Not too candy-​ish. Anyway, without raining on them too much, the staff is really friendly and they carry Pocki and wasabi peas. Still, WAY better bubble tea than Cha Yoon.

I really enjoyed the tea they used to make their bubble tea/​boba and the tapioca was a nice consistency, not too hard, not too chewy, not too soft. I haven’t tried their crepes since I’m usually just after a boba fix, but they look like they have a lot of unusual combinations that I would love to try, including the one that had green tea and red beans! Yummy!
The chicken banh mi was ok, I thought that it was a bit on the dry side, maybe some more of that mayo type sauce they used or more pickled veggies would be good. Also more peppers! But overall, the best banh mi I’ve had since moving from CA, so I bumped up the star rating for that. It is a bit on the small side, but it’s cutely decorated and the staff are helpful and efficient.

Probably the only place to get quality cheap eats in the Central West End. Sure, you could go to that OTHER crêpe place on Maryland plaza and pay more than you should for a crêpe, OR you can go to BBC and have a delicious crêpe and still have money left for a tasty milk tea with all the fixin’s your little heart desires.
The only bad side is that the store front is small, so if you’re not looking for it, you’ll completely miss it.
My favorite is the BBQ pork banh mi. I see it as the tasty result of the French colonization of Vietnam – crusty French bread with Asian BBQed pork and a smattering of pickled daikon radish topped with fresh cilantro.
BBC makes this kind of culinary experience accessible. So you can give it a try. If you don’t like it, it’s okay b/​c you didn’t spend a fortune. If you LOVE it, you can keep coming back and never break the bank.

I have to agree with the preceding reviews: my «special» sandwich could to use more stuff in it, but that didn’t keep it from being super tasty.
The bubble tea was ok. Some boba were dry on the inside which I didn’t like at all.
Maybe I should ask for double meat next time… I’d be willing to drop 2 – 3 bucks more for that, easily.

Let’s be honest, Culpeppers, Pasta House, Drunken Fish, CWP & Bar Louie aren’t exactly gourmet eating. Culpeppers and Bar Louie are good for beers and socializing, but you’re still looking at Pepto for dessert. BBC boosts the quality of eating in CWE to an entirely new level. It’s tasty, reliable, cheap, has a lot of options and the owners are hungry (sorry) for new customers.
I’m not the biggest fan of the Banh Mi. They’re tasty, but really bready. I like a better balance between carbs, protein & veggies. They could use either less bread or more ingredients. The bubble tea is fantastic. They’re’s a crapload of flavors and add-​ons — get mixed beans & boba.
The real reason to go to BBC is for the crepes. the savory crepes are unreal. let me repeat, slowly:
