I had been to Bar 101 several times a few years ago when it was named The Dam. Bar 101 is now an expanded version of the same bar. The bottom line here is Bar 101 is cheap. They offer very cheap drinks, especially for ladies, and their clientele is what you would expect at a cheap bar in South County. I hate to discriminate because I do live nearby and enjoy an inexpensive night out, but this place is ridiculous. I went with a big group on a Saturday night. Cover was $ 3, which got ladies free well drinks & Bud Light draft with the cup they give you upon entry(until midnight). Guys had $ 2 you call-its til 10:30pm. They make the drinks decently strong for how cheap they are, and they have one cocktail waitress that will save you trips to the bar until they get crowded. You can dance(they have a DJ, back to that in a second), play pool, watch the game on several TVs, or play darts. The music is typical, and the DJ we saw was TERRIBLE! Actually, the DJ appeared to play the music while some baffoon on the microphone yelled random quips over the music, called people on the dancefloor his«son» and«dad», and yelled«yeah!» more than Little John. We were all so annoyed that one of my friends went and asked the MC to keep it down, then he proceeded to berate her. We were wanting to leave anyway because it was so smokey I got a headache. The dancefloor was sticky from spilled drinks and apparently had not been mopped in weeks. The other patrons appeared to be local regulars, some of which were very entertaining to watch dance like wanna-be strippers on the bars built into the dancefloor stage. This is the kind of place you could get wasted for under $ 10, but then you’d better be that drunk to spend the whole night there.
