Fantastic place! Once in a while we get mediocre service but overall a great restaurant. I love the rojo medallions with spinach and the goat cheese red sauce appetizer. Great cocktails too! The place has good energy and is always a good time.

One of the hottest restaurants in clayton!(if you can’t afford a meal over +$ 80). One a beautiful saturday night-expect a tiny bit of a wait. This is a perfect date spot, there is so much different food to try, without huge portions. I love tapas! and sangria! they have sangria on tap! Must try: The eggplant dip, the tiny meat medallion things, DESSERT, anything you order will be delicious. I love the barcelona décor… colors, mosiac, flags, tvs, helps you forget your are in missouri. People of all ages come here, you see a lot of cute girls, young couples, men watching the game, married ppl on date nights, etc. My coworker met her husband here lol. They also offer valet parking so you dont have to worry about it

Local gem with fabulous tapas and speedy service. Dimly lit with a lively hum, Barcelona is great for groups and my go-to place for tapas in St. Louis. My Hotlist: — Baked Goat Cheese in Tomato Sauce: Served with warm, fluffy garlic bread. Stir it together or dip and swirl as you go. You must get this. — Meatballs: Tender, juicy, and topped with melty cheese. 4 perfect meatballs come swimming in a bath of fresh marinara sauce. — Broccolini: I could lick the sherry sauce from the plate it’s THAT good… well, I usually do… — Fried artichokes: Crispy fritters accompanied with a divine dipping sauce. — Grilled Salmon: Simply grilled to perfection. — Garlic Shrimp: A spanish classic. — Tres leches cake: For good measure. Add a pitcher of sangria(or 5, to try all the flavors… of course) and you’re set for a spanish fiesta!

The atmosphere/music was great but the bar service was the absolute worst. I was just there and it was a slow snowy weeknight so there weren’t many people there at the bar. my friend and I literally could not get the bartenders attention for almost an hour to order more drinks because he was in the corner flirting with another patron. Getting his attention was impossible when we wanted to pay and leave. He never looked up from the girl he was talking to. I hope it worked out for him, but with all the great bars in Clayton I certainly wouldn’t choose that one again.

BARcelona is the best for happy hour. Me and friends are becoming regular visitors. I highly recommend it to anyone needing a good after work spot. Tapas and drinks are awesome!

I like Barcelona. It’s a little spendy except for happy hour. I wish they switched up their menu options every so often for HH but for bring within walking distance of my work, it suits my hungry tummy with these happy hour sliders.

My biggest complaint is that the food as drink here are pricy. BUT everything you will eat and drink will be delightfully tasty. Definitely have some of their sangria. Our table split both a red and a white sangria and they are both great tasting and well made. My favorite of the tapas was the empanadas– YUM — followed by the steak one we had(do not recall its name from the menu). The tortilla espanola was decent though nothing to write home about.

Barcelona Tapas was a suggestion by our hotel staff as a place to get a great Sangria(we do not normally drink Sangria) we decided to give it a shot. After all it’s one of only a few places you can find open on weekends in Clayton Missouri, a business district just up the rails from St. Louis. The Sangria seemed to be more of a value than something special at just $ 5 each for a pint with fresh citrus. What turned out to be quite nice were the spinach and garbanzo beans and in particular the grilled sausages. The sausages were excellent in fact and I almost ordered more had we not been trying to eat at 5 restaurants in the same night. As this restaurant /bar tends to spill over capacity during weekends we picked a table on the street in what used to be a parking space. The server told us that the city had just approved that, and don’t remember what they call them, «pads» or something? Noticed a lot of police in the area. I guess due to the fact that the St. Louis County giant govt building is just a block or two away. Felt very safe walking around at night in Clayton and this is indeed a great place to stop. I agree with everyone else on this one. Service was slow because there were giant groups of people but when we did get service it was kind and respectful. Get the sausages! And the Garbanzo beans.

The only reason I give this place 2 stars, is because usually, it is my favorite. Today, however, was awful. The salmon was not fully cooked, and when address to our server, we were offered to put the same piece back on grill.(We had already ate off of it, EW!) service was terrible and slow. The bar was not set up by 3, when they open at 11. And our salmon that we couldn’t eat half of, was not even offered to be comped. For being my favorite, I would say that due to today, I will not be returning.

A fun place to catch up with friends over a few drinks, while enjoying the happy hour Tappas selections. Adequate parking is reasonably close, and service has been consistently good each time we have been here. This venue tends to be busy, and quite lively… the noise level is not for the frequent migraine sufferer! Also, Tappas is by its very nature served in small portions, so please be mindful of this. Prices are less reasonable after happy hour is over, and not all items are discounted during happy hour. The experience is really one in which the sangria, the shots, and the socializing are as important as the food, however, or at least so I’ve found.

Worst service ever. Party of 8 ladies, very polite people, Just out to get some dinner and drinks. Our waitress was unbelievably BAD… Ignored us and stood around talking to her friends at another table. Been here a ton of times and service is never great but this was just crazy! Everyone had empty drinks and she never came around. We tried to flag her down and she still didn’t come! Disgraceful!

After a first late night visit here for drinks with my friends, we were pretty excited to return for tapas. The drinks were nothing special and a bit too sweet, and the service was a little sluggish(even though there were barely 2 other tables), but the vibe was fun. And so, we decided to return for dinner one day — our mistake. The food was poor. Have plenty of water ready before you try anything as dry as their pork tenderloin or chicken. The pork bounces when dropped from more than 3 inches high — as someone who has regularly worked with this protein, this was quite unsettling. The Plato De Embutidos(assorted sausages) was okay, but greasy and heavy. That being said, they still tasted like they were removed from a package and reheated in a microwave, as did most of the food I’ve had there. The legends about the poor service are true! Our waitress was friendly the few times she was attentive, but even friendlier to her friends at the bar and the pass. We had to flag down for service on menus and several more times just for water. Would not return.

I always seem to end up here because it’s convenient and I like the cocktail menu, but my service is almost always horrendous. I love the goat cheese dip(happy hour) and the chicken salad(lunch), but don’t go if you want great service. Fun late night environment!

I have very mixed feelings about this place after visiting for the first time today with some friends. On the upside, I really enjoyed the PLATODEEMBUTIDOS, or assorted Spanish sausages. They aren’t at all spicey, but they were perfectly seasoned and came with a delicious yellow sauce… it was the consistency of mayo and had a slight sweet, cheesey flavor. My husband thought this dish wasn’t particularly special. Maybe I’m a little bias because I really enjoy sausage… Also, a few of the desserts on the menu sounded absolutely delicious. The down side… The other plates we had were fine… grilled asparagus, cured ham and cheese. But I came to realize that when it comes to tapas, this place just doesn’t have the selection I want. I want and awesome meat and cheese plate option. I probably want some sliders. And I definitely want some dates that are wrapped with bacon and stuffed with cheese or chorizo. Also, our service was spotty. Sometimes he was ready to serve and very friendly. And then we’d go through an inattentive phase. Lastly, they CHARGE for soda refills! This seemed particularly ridiculous considering the«soda» was club soda. Part of me wants to go back, have sausage and give the desserts a try. I guess I’ll browse the pictures posted here on Unilocal and see if they’re actually worth it.

Tapas!!! The interior is a little tight as there isn’t a lot of space, but that goes with location, so I won’t hold that against them, plus they do have outdoor seating. Plenty of options, lots of drink choices. The best part is being able to get a large plate of paella and mix it with a bunch of tapas choices. Prices are reasonable considering they are in downtown Clayton. Great place for a date night, and they have daily lunch specials.

It took 15 – 20 min for our server to come to our table after being seated. Another 15 before we were served water. Like any Tapas restaurant, there are many selections, which is great as it affords the opportunity to try something new. Although the place was busy, which we took as a good omen, the food was less than stellar. Our thoughts: Pincho de pollo y chorizo(chicken & Chorizo skewer w/cumin aioli) was good. Black bean soup — so so — nothing special at all. Atun con pimiento(pepper encrusted tuna w/rioja sauce) was excellent; melt in the mouth tender! Somomillo con cabrales(grilled beef tenderloin w/blue cheese spinach) sauce was very salty, but the beef good; Colifor with azafrin(roasted cauliflower w/saffron, raisins & pine nuts) was good, but it’s still cauliflower! Service was mediocre, all of our beef dishes were good, other items were less memorable. Doubt we’ll return — too many other Tapas restaurants to try.

Came here with my training team. Was a delighfully cheerful vibe, complimenting balmy(haha) 12 degrees outside. This is a tapas place, so I understand the casual nature of sharing small plates, and continued ordering. The service was a little disorganized at first, but to be fair, the one server and two bartenders were not expecting this Monday evening to be so busy. The server was very sweet, once the orders were all out of the way, eventually. I had the black bean soup(delicious, tangy, and not underspiced), the onion and mushroom empanadas w/cumin garlic aioli(amazing), and the peppered crusted tuna(it was a bit rubbery, but I’m not sure where my expectations should be for St. Louis seafood). Overall, everyone had a great time. The vibe was fun, and the service was warm. If you’re in Clayton for whatever, this is a good choice!

I took my wife out on a date and we decided to revisit Barcelona. We previously had eaten there in 2011 when I was living in South City. It was a cold January night so warm tapas seemed ideal. We were able to get a table without a reservation, although the place was packed. Barcelona is on the load side. We started with a cheese board, called tres quesos(with manchego, cabrales and goat cheese) and drinks. My wife ordered sangria and I ordered a caipirnha since they had cachaça. We started ordering appetizers and our eyes were larger than our stomachs since we tasted all we ordered, but didn’t finish it all. My wife ordered the tortilla espanola, and albondigas. I ordered the patatas bravas and the solomillo con cabrales(beef tenderloin). The food and drinks were excellent. I know there are lots of great restaurants in Clayton and we need to do more exploring, but Barcelona is a solid choice. They do take reservations, so if you have the foresight, give them a call first or grab a table on Opentable.

I’ve been to Barcelona a couple of times now and they were all meeting up with drinks for friends. My favorite aspect of Barcelona is by far the atmosphere. It’s always upbeat and laid back. They occasionally have live music which really adds to it all. This place really isn’t the best for groups if you’re looking to hang out at the bar. The bar is fine for 1 or 2 but chances are you aren’t the only ones there. My most recent visit we had to go with a table which is kind of lame. That’s why Barcelona isn’t really one of my top choices for late nights in Clayton. One of the perks Barcelona has is cheap sangria. I think it’s $ 30 but a pitcher which is more than enough for 3 people. It comes out to about 2 – 3 glasses each. Although, I do have to say that it’s not very good. The white is way worse than the red so if you’re debating, just go with the red. While it’s not that good, it does have the money saving factor going for it. I haven’t tried their food but I’ve heard it’s great. I plan to come back for a meal one of these days. If you’re looking for an upbeat atmosphere with one or two others, than Barcelona is a great place to have a couple drinks.

I’ve only snacked on the food a couple times but both times were very good. The meatballs and calamari anyway. This is a trendy hot spot in Clayton, nice mixed crowd primarily younger. They have a good alcohol selection, a separate dining area but the bar area is usually hoping and the place to be. In the summer chill on the patio outside, just don’t get hit by passerby’s(feels like you are right on the road sometimes!). But just use valet anyway.

Barcelona is most famous for their Sangria’s. I think the Sangria’s are just okay, nothing to get overly excited about. But they are still fun to drink. But at $ 18 a pitcher, I expect better. Barcelona also has live music sometimes. But it gets REALLY loud here and it’s really difficult to have conversations with your friends. There’s no dance floor at Barcelona, just table seating… so I don’t understand the point of overly loud music if you can’t dance to it. The interior of the restaurant is decorated in a Spanish theme… so it is interesting to look around at. Overall, I give Barcelona 3 stars because I know I’ll visit again, but it’s not a restaurant that I’ll plan my entire night around.
