I was just at the beanhouse and I actually overheard a couple discussing they liked the place but they were going to leave a negative review because they knew somebody that did and got offered a free meal for returning via private message from the manager, how pathetic. The food was decent and the drinks were stiff the service could have been faster but wasn’t too bad. I will return without trying to scam the place

This is the worst restaurant in St Louis. I last went there over 12 years ago. A friend of mine asked me if my wife and I wanted to meet them there. The only reason I agreed is because I heard they had new owners. Big mistake! We had horrible service, warm bottle of Corona beer. The menu was reduced because they said did not want to put to much on the kitchen. Do yourself a favor and choose Taco Bell and you w get much quicker service, better food, and opportunity to grab a drink elsewhere. Don’t go and spend your money anywhere else!!!

Grew up loving the bean house. Went here with friends weekly through high school. Loved it and was sad when it closed. Went back with my mom for the reopening and was unbelievably disappointed. New décor is nice and a lot of the same old staff. Reinvented salsa tastes like Tostitos and chips tasted like they were from a bag and reheated. Taco shells had similar staleness. Taco meat tasted nasty and overcooked. Rice was underdone and hard. I stood by this place when everyone trashed on it and mourned when it closed. But now it has come back to slap me in the face. Still using paper limited menus. They were confused about how their combos work. Also did not have their old all you can eat lunch special, but what can ya do? Giving two stars in the hopes they can fix their problems.

First of all, if I could give zero or even half a star I would. I never take the time to fill out reviews but this was so frustrating to deal with. My boyfriend and I live nearby and drove by several times. We saw this place had re opened so we decided to give it a try. We sat outside at the bar since it was nice weather. The bartender was friendly. No complaints there. She asked us what we wanted to drink. Since we had never been there before, we asked for a drink menu and a regular menu for food. Her response was, we are still re opening so we don’t have any menus yet. WHYAREYOUOPENWITHOUT A MENU!!! I’m a server & bartender myself, and we have to have product knowledge. When a customer asks you what you have for drinks since you do not have a menu, you don’t say«we have everything» … Ok? What is everything? I’m a craft beer drinker or wine and cocktails. All I saw were domestics and margarita premixed… On tap… Really??? That’s not«everything» and secondly, this place REOPENED like almost a month ago! Why do you not have menus??! On another negative note while I’m at it, This place did not feel like a Mexican restaurant at all with the atmosphere. We love Mexican cuisine. Nobody brought chips, salsa. Nobody told us what food they even had. My boyfriend had a bottled beer. I was too frustrated to even consider ordering a drink after this. And we left. I’m sorry but that is the most frustrating thing to go through being a new patron and the restaurant doesn’t even carry a menu. & to have nothing written down by the bar for specials or any menu items what so ever. Just ridiculous. It’s not hard to write a menu out on a piece of paper… even if you cannot reach a computer. New establishment or just re opening. That isn’t an excuse. We won’t be back and I guarantee this place will most likely re close considering all of the other horrible reviews it has.

Should have remained closed. Ground beef extremely salty and dry. Small amount of cheese provided did not help. Server very nice. Menu is like cousin vinney: there’s like 3 items outside of appetizers to order.

They have reopened. We went for the first time. The chips were stale. The menus were paper and didn’t tell you what was in the food. The food was not very good at all. I would recommend going anywhere else to eat. If you want to have a few drinks it a good place. The bartender was very nice and very fun. Her service was great.

I live right around the corner for The Bean House. My husband and I have been coming here since we started dating 12 years ago. When it closed for a little bit we were a little sad and anxious for it to reopen. I took my mom, dad, sister and 2 year old daughter here today. We went outside to sit and decided to come in because it was too windy. We didn’t sit down at a table before coming back in. The waitress that followed us out told the bar«they didn’t want to sit out side. It was too windy» in a rude tone. They had the«new girl» wait on us. The menus are a piece of paper with a few items on it. They don’t have a kids menu.

Been waiting for this place to reopen and my first visit since was needless to say disappointing. Didn’t even get to order due to the bartender/waitress!!! She didn’t have any interest in taking my order or explaining the menu ATALL!!! VERYDISAPPOINTING!!! Bring back the old one or just close the doors. Staff is terrible and apprecially the bartender hall who was more worried about her outfit than satisfying her customers. Do not waste your time!!! Nothing like the old one we all loved!!!

just visited after the grand re-opening…what a huge disappointment. the place looks nice with fresh paint outside and a well lighted redesigned dining room. had to wait for one of the few remaining tables to be cleaned then a 10 min wait for a waitress, there were only three other dining patrons. We got the so-called menus. same old food options only far less to choose from after waiting again for the waitress to come take our drink orders which we never got to place we left without ordering. My wife used to love this place it seems to be way more focused on the outdoor bar area, maybe they should have re-opened as a mexican themed bar as that seems to be the main focus. We will not be back leave it for the happy hour crowd

I wasn’t overly impressed with the bean house. The layout is as confusing as the menu. There are 3 different areas of this place and the menu is all over the place as well. The food wasn’t horrible, but it wasn’t great either. We just moved to lemay and have been trying the places closest to our house and haven’t had much luck as of yet.

Food and drink were great. Bartender on patio left a lot to be desired with her customer service or lack thereof. Took a bit for service which happens on a Friday night. Just dropped off bill after entrée without a word, a smile or anything. Wanted to order another drink but I guess not. Bad service!

Very hit and miss. Which is sad when offering basic Mexican dishes. Patio looks fun but unless sitting at the bar service is hard to come by. I go here for drinks occasionally but not to eat.

The food is good but the service on the patio is terrible. The bartender is the server and not good at all. If this was my first time I would not go back.

My first experience– looked exciting and I was very happy walking in. The menu is limited but they offer some american vs just Mexican. I wanted a grilled chicken quesadilla. My server said I would have to get the fajita one and just minus all the peppers and etc. I settled for the cheese I’m not paying 6 more for a cup of chicken. It was just odd they couldn’t just add chicken for additional charge. Margarita was strawberry it came out pink and tasted like a store bought marg. We ordered the chili con queso and it was like soup… Tasted good but too runny. Basically it’s def a place to party and be so drunk it doesn’t matter what you eat.

Went there for a family dinner this past Friday. The service was dreadful. My server disappeared for long stretches at a time, skipped over people wanting to order, and forgot to bring things like silverware to the table even after our food arrived. My step father didn’t get his food until after most people finished their meals which was strange being that we ordered identical items and he ordered before several other people. My son posted cheese sticks, they awful, several people tried them and that was the consensus over all. My shrimp fajitas were not bad but i had to eat them over a napkin and share utensils with my sister in law. Had to ask other servers for things like plates and refills. As a person who works in the service industry this was truly a colossal disappointment. Will never go back.

Disclaimer: I’ll never fault an establishment in my reviews for their patrons. A restaurant can’t really control the type of people willing to eat there. That said, this place was creepy but my 3 star review is only based on food, service and atmosphere. Service: absolutely terrible. It killed me to even leave a tip. I did it out of habit and the fact that I assume my waitress needed the few bucks more than me. Food: pretty good but overpriced. I will say it was lightning fast. Yet, it made me think everything was pre-made. Literally, our food came out 6 minutes after we ordered it. Drinks were weak and expensive for anywhere outside of Clayton. Atmosphere: Trashy. Conclusion: This place is a dump. The staff were rude. The patrons were gross and scary. I really wish there was decent mexican food within 15 minutes of South County. 3 stars is only warranted because the food was actually good.

The Bean House is relatively wretched. The menu is boring and limited, the atmosphere is dingy, the food is well very bland and not at all good. I would not recommend this place to anyone for ‘Mexican’ food. Find food elsewhere, you’ll be happy you did.

I have very mixed reviews about the Bean House! Pro’s They have recently upgraded the décor in the bar and dining room as well as create a great cantina feel on the outside patio(enclosed for winter) The staff is always friendly and service is typically fast. They remade their salsa and its quite tasty! Chips seem lighter and crispier as well THEYHAVEONEOFTHEBESTBLT’S I HAVEEVEREATEN — NOJOKE Its just like you would make it at home! fresh bread, toasted on one side, fresh crisp iceberg lettuce, just enough tomatoes, and the bacon. How do they cook the bacon? Must be in the pizza oven(oh yes they also serve pizza) because the bacon is light, crisp and breakable when you bite in the sandwich! Now that is a hard art to master! YUM! Con’s Their mexican food is not bad. Its not great, Its not authentic. I prefer fresher tasting ingredients when I eat Mexican. The clientele… although I love character, this is sometimes a bit hard to handle. A bit of a rougher crowd, some bikers. And then you have your average Joe’s like me. There is a dance club in the basement.(???) Odd I thought, but it seems to be very popular with the locals. Its more rap dance than«hey let’s boogie» dance. Not my thing but it could be others(well, obviously it is) All in all if you live or are near this establishment, I’d say give it a go! and do something crazy and order the BLT!

The 1 star people on here have to be crazy with their reviews! They are wrong. There should be higher ratings on The Bean House, I’m giving 5 stars! I’ve had other Mexican restaurants in St. Louis/SoCo area, and this has been around forever and it truly is the best. I had 2 chicken tacos(hard and soft) and they were both amazing. I truly was impressed. I love their chips and salsa too. Great at lunch time when they aren’t crowded at all. Servers were very friendly and helpful too. you don’t get that everywhere anymore.
