Becker Hours:
Monday — Thursday 7:30 am to 12:00 am-​Controlled Access after 6 pm
Friday 7:30 am to 10:00 pm-​Controlled Access after 6 pm
Saturday 8:30 am to 6:00 pm-​Controlled Access all day
Sunday 12:00 pm to 12:00 am –Controlled Access all day
Controlled access means showing an ID from Washington University School of Medicine, Washington University Danforth Campus, Barnes Jewish Hospital, Children’s Hospital, St. Louis College of Pharmacy, a valid Library membership, or SLU.
I needed to do some charting. I needed a quiet place with internet access. Becker sounded good. I had been there before. Too bad I had ID cards in my workbag from everywhere but any of those forementioned places. Two hospital badges, two university badges, one Scott Air Force Base badge. If the Air Force cleared me and Wash U doesn’t, you know there’s just a mild discrepancy here. It’s not like Becker harbors national secrets on the permanent and viable treatment of genital herpes. It’s not like I was going to run through the library singing «I wanna be an airborne ranger» like Bender (although I have thought about it). It’s not like you guys have the best journals of all time… pretty much any university can get its hands on any article in any journal within a matter of hours. And it’s not like I was going to be a threat to Wash U security.
The most ironic part? I just ended up going next door to another Wash U building.
