After a morning of running errands in the city, we decided to go to Blueberry Hill for lunch. Blueberry hill is at the loop on Delmar Avenue. It was one of the first places in that location. Some nights they have live music. Check their schedule to see who is coming. It’s a laid back don’t rush outta here venue. The loop itself is having a trolley put in that will take you from one end to the other. I’ll be curious to see how this effects traffic. Anyway, J ordered the chicken salad sandwich and I ordered the chili Mac. He said his sandwich tasted good but the complaint was that the chicken was in large hunks so that when you picked it up, the chicken came falling out. He had to remake his sandwich every time he wanted a bite. My chili Mac was wonderful. A little bit of a bite but not too much. The noodles cooked just right. I’m going to have a hard time not ordering that the next time I come. Would I come back here? Yes! Just thinking about it makes my mouth water.

Here is a good place to hang out with friends and you will enjoy if you have good and joyful friends! Don’t expect much from the place and people here to add to what you can have with your friends company! A good spacious area for drinking and playing dart and good music. But when I went to the bar to get the drink I really missed my friends in the other room as the bartender was friendly! So if you are looking for a place to be with your friends and have fun, here can be a good suggestion. What I mean is «count on yourself»!!

It’s pretty cool looking from the outside, and it takes up an entire block. The word on the street is that Chuck Berry still shows up to play a few times a year. The food is all right. It’s pretty standard, nothing amazing. I was underwhelmed by the French fries that I paid an extra $ 2.50 for. I’d just go with the regular chips that come with the sandwich. The staff was wonderful. It’s a good place to go hang out with family and friends.

I seriously can’t believe that I’ve grown up in the Saint Louis area all my life and never came here until the other day. Finally went with a few friends. I was confused a little when the place was a seat yourself kind of restaurant. You don’t normally see that in the Loop. It took a little bit for my group to find a table that would sit us comfortably. Another few minutes and were given menus and drinks were ordered. I got the breakfast burger, which came with tater tots. Both were really good. The burger was cooked just right. I would have liked to have my egg cooked a little longer. I am not a big fan of egg yolk running down my hand while I’m eating my burger. The tater tots were cooked just right. They were crispy and tasted delicious. Negatives were that we weren’t able to get the bill split. Older machine, so not really their fault just a little bit of a negative. I didn’t really care for the lay out either because everything felt so choppy. Finally, I thought the place just needed a good cleaning. This is definitely a must do in the area and I’m glad that I went. Not sure if I personally would come back, but that is just me.

Even though I’ve spent almost seven years in STL now, I visited Blueberry Hill for the first time just this past week. I have to say that I’m not crazy about basic diner food, so it wasn’t something I was dying to try. I ordered the Wagyu Burger with cheese and bacon. The burger is quite large and had decent flavor. I subbed the tater tots for the house buffalo fries because I do have a soft spot for tots. The service was very friendly and attentive. The experience was simple and just fine.

Blueberry Hill is a St. Louis landmark that everyone who lives here should go to at least once, just to say you’ve been here. The nostalgic, fun memorabilia throughout the restaurant is the main cool factor here. How can you not love the Simpsons case? The Duck Room downstairs(yes, there are duck pictures leading the way down the stairs to the basement) features a bar, stage, tables and chairs to view live performances. As for the burgers… I honestly think the food here is kind of overrated. It’s also very overpriced. The burgers aren’t bad and the buffalo chips are good, but not exactly worth the price. The cheddar here is cheese whiz, so consider yourself warned on that by the way. It’s usually packed in here at night on the weekends with long waits so get here early if you can, or prepare to enjoy the crowd and ambiance while you wait.

The food was so so. Wasn’t horrible. My problem is the 18% gratuity automatically added to our bill. Our waiter was pretty much non-existant, even though there was almost no one in the restaurant. I had to wait until I was almost done with my food to ask for a refill which was brought once I was completely done. I will not come here again, the prices were too high and the service left something to be desired. The gratuity put me over the top.

An update of my review– I was a little bit uncomfortable with the taxedermied animals but upon receiving a message from Blueberry Hill was informed it was aquired from an auction and the owner is not a hunter. Still not my favorite décor but I am a little more comforted knowing this. I’m a loser i know but just love animals. The rest of my previous review still holds true– fun bar!

I give this place a 5 stars based on being a biased STL ex pat who spent too many nights reliving high school hallways at Blueberry Hill during those jam packed Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday nights. Those days are long gone but a beer and a always perfectly cooked medium rare burger from Blueberry Hill is a comforting standby. Go weird and get the scoop of soft cheddar. In the grand scheme of burgers today, one could call this one a middle aged dinosaur, but its damn juicy and for under $ 8, that spells Bang for your Burger Buck. More thoughts over there:

I could give this either four or five stars. This is one of my favorite places to go in the Delmar Loop, let alone St. Louis. Where else can you find a restaurant/bar/hangout/pop-culture haven like this?! Exactly. Blueberry Hill denies that it is a theme restaurant, but it is easy to classify it as pop-culture/rock and roll styled place. And for a rock enthusiast like myself, its fitting. I’ll start with the food. Its not bad, but in truth I don’t really come in here much for the grub; more likely its the atmosphere. I’ve had their wings, burgers, chili mac and some of their fried goods and I loved them all. Their liquor selection is great, even though I don’t come there to drink unless my buddies and I are up for hanging out there. I’ve seen some shows in the Duck Room(including Chuck Berry three times) and it is a great place to catch a show. In short, its like being in a dungeon. Its not bad though, and most times I don’t mind standing… which is what you’ll get if you don’t get there soon after the doors open. The place is like a museum. I’m sure you’ve heard someone rave about their extensive collections that include Family Guy, Simpsons, St. Louis sports, Howdy Doody, among many others. You’ll also find some Chuck Berry memorabilia by the door. Blueberry Hill is also known for its jukebox. Yes, you will find a few vintage ones displayed on the top shelf when you walk in, but the digital jukebox is the one to go to. Sometimes(I believe) its an employees’ Ipod that plays there when its not operating. You are sure to hear random genres of music, be it Johnny Rivers, Chic or LCD Soundsystem. The waitstaff is always friendly, and usually its Bob that waits on me. You may also find owner Joe Edwards walking around the place(very nice down-to-earth guy) and I’m sure you’ll get a kick out of seeing his Wall of Fame, which grows every time I come in there. You can tell Joe has been around the block many times, that’s for sure!(Who knew Florence Henderson and Robert Plant have been to Blueberry Hill?!) Great place to take someone on a date there, as well as in taking an out-of-town person.

Blueberry Hill has been in my life since my teens, college and adult years. It still has the BEST Hamburgers, there fried mushrooms with a squeeze of lemon is delicious, the service is great, I love looking at all the cool collector items from the past, and to end the night, there is a photo booth for cheap to a quick photo like when I was a kid. I love the pinball and darts. FUN Place with positive people!!!

My friend said this was his favorite place, so I decided to stop by while exploring the neighborhood. The only problem is like in all my excitement, I was not that hungry, but everyone kept yelling at me EATTOASTEDRAVIOLI so I ordered a beer and let this place take my t-rav virginity. Oh hell yes. I saw burgers were their thing but since I had eaten one the night before I unfortunately did not want a burger like some kind of freak. But pockets of happiness made up for that. I figure 11:30am on a Saturday is not a happening time here so I am not very useful and I had considered coming out here the prior night but didn’t do it in the end. Additionally this place is just a blast to look at. So many things. So that at least is a bonus of coming at an off time.

We heard that this place was very unique to St Louis, so a few of us decided to visit here. The décor and environment is very cool and divey. it’s almost like the rock n roll hall of fame and comic-con had a baby. Lots of action figures, music posters, cartoon characters, games, etc. There are a couple of different rooms — a bar, dart/hangout room, and seated dinner area. Food — I give the food 3 stars. If you get any meal here, get the burgers. They are juicy and flavorful. The fries come out of a frozen bag with no seasoning on it, so you can pass on those. The vegan red beans and rice were subpar. The sauce was overly tomato-flavored, not what red beans and rice should be like. Buffalo chips/fries were good, but nothing to be crazy about. It says they are«spicy», but they aren’t. The toasted ravioli was pretty good. All in all, the food was pretty average. Service — GREAT service. Our waiter was attentive, friendly, and gave good recommendations. Anyway, if you want to visit a «cool» spot in St. Louis, then come here. But if you’re looking for good food, I’d skip this place and try somewhere else. Maybe a BBQ restaurant.

I should preface everything with a note that the food has always been fine and the service is usually okay, although it’s sometimes tough to get a bartender’s attention. That being said… This place seriously needs to update its computers or figure out how to calculate tax and tip correctly. Our waitress refused to split the bill, and it was obvious why when the bill came out– it was a receipt printed out from an old-school calculator with item names HANDWRITTEN sort of next to each item. After poring over the mess of a receipt for a few minutes, I realized that we were being charged 18% gratuity pre-tax and THEN9.613% tax ONTOP of the post-tip amount. So we were getting charged extra tax. Whether that actually goes to the county or into Joe Edwards’ pocket or anywhere else is unknown to me. Here’s an example calculation. Say your pre-tax, pre-tip subtotal is $ 100. Blueberry Hill charges your group 18% gratuity, pre-tax, so you are at $ 118 now. At this point, the 9.613% tax should be calculated on the original $ 100($ 9.61), bringing the total to $ 127.61. At Blueberry Hill, the tax is calculated as 9.613% of $ 118($ 11.34), bringing the total instead to $ 129.34. SOMEONE is pocketing the extra $ 1.73, and I would like to know whom. It’s not much on top of an already large subtotal, but the way the bill is calculated strikes me as DISHONEST, if not mathematically uninformed. If it’s the waitstaff that is pocketing the difference every time, I’m mostly cool with that, although it should really be up to the restaurant to pay the employees decent wages and not the customers’ responsibility. But since food establishments often treat their waitstaff like inferior beings, I would not be surprised if management or the restaurant owners themselves were keeping the extra money.

Five star St. Louis landmark with two star food equals a three star review for me. I’ve been here a few times now, and I always want to love this place but leave feeling let down. It has seen better days, and considering it’s history it’s disappointing that it is not kept up better. The cobwebs in the corners on some of the kitschy pop culture decorations have been keeping the iconic photos on the walls company for far too long. The food is not great. As noted on other reviews, you’re not coming here for your taste buds — unless you like fried food, greasy burgers, and beer(admittedly better after I’ve had some of those beers). You are coming here to soak up music history. You can close your eyes and imagine the decades of musical masters sharing real deal rock n’ roll to a solid late night crowd. If you’re lucky you might just hear some classic good music with one of their shows in the Duck or Dart Room. It’s a bucket list STL experience worth checking off. Considering its history and that it’s a landmark, maybe this should be four or five stars for the good ol’ days, but I’ll clean up this review if the owners clean up the cobwebs.

Blueberry Hill is one of THE«cool bars» in St. Louis. It’s basically a historic [bar][land]-mark smack dab in the middle of The Loop. Blueberry is a popular spot for locals and a great spot to show out-of-towners…especially if you’re in the area. They have decent food for a bar and a great selection of local beers. Their boozey drinks are your typical well drinks but HEY, ain’t nothing wrong with that! If you go here and see I’ve checked-in on Unilocal, you can find me playing darts in the back room with friends. If you give the bar your ID they’ll give you some free darts so you can enjoy some friendly competition with darts… and beer of course. On a popular evening, this place gets PACKED. Claim your spot early or prepare your elbows top be swim through people. The crowd here is always diverse and friendly but you can always expect hipsters.

I’m going to have to give Blueberry Hill 4& ½ stars, not 5 only because the lady at the front door was kind of rude. This is an awesome place to go. So many cool things to look at! It took me over an hour to look at everything. I think the neatest thing is that you can play darts while having a meal or a drink. I also thought the celeb wall was cool. It’s crazy how many celebrities have been in there! I recommend coming here, not only for the food and drinks, but to look at all of the amazing, unique, vintage things in there!

This definitely an atmosphere place and I encourage you to take a whirlwind trip down memory lane if you’re in the area. Your kiddos probably won’t know what any of the décor is, but you will relish in all of the décor from our childhood and beyond. It was a seat-yourself kind of weekday afternoon and we chose the option to sit inside in the dining area as there was a fair bit of sledgehammering going on outside due to construction(Not holding this against them, they certainly have no control over such disruption). There were only a few other diners, but man oh man did it take us forever to find our seat because we couldn’t stop looking at everything! I chose to sit under the 1995 tour poster for Nine Inch Nails and David Bowie(duh — no brainer). Our server was prompt and provided perfect service the entire time. On it with the drinks and suggestions at the perfect times. I eyeballed the picture of the buffalo fries on the menu and immediately needed to try one. I actually chose my meal accordingly with what they came with. Apparently the only dish which includes such a novelty was the Western Wagyu Burger. It comes with onion ring, bacon bacon, and dollop of cheddar spread as well, Looked appealing enough so I committed to my choice. Note: All other burgers makes you order a side as an extra. Took a trip to the ladies room and actually forgot to actually get there because I couldn’t stop looking at all of the celebrity pictures with the owner that lined the walls heading to loo. Came back to the table just in time for the food to arrive. My burger was ordered medium and cooked just perfectly. I took the buns off because they were huge, but that’s my own personal preference. The buffalo fries were yummy and tasted a lot like the curly fries found at the roast beef fast food chains — but were a little more on the spicy side. Quite delicious. The other dish at the table was the grilled cheese with french onion soup. I’m pretty sure extra napkins were requested with that one. Three layers of bread and slices of tomatoes make it quite the napkin-needer. While I didn’t partake in the grilled cheese, I’m fully aware it’s hard to not like. While the food was good, it was the atmosphere I’m really remembering the most. Don’t get me wrong, it was good food, but just your average burger and sandwiches taste. It’s the pac man table, the pinball, the random art pieces, and nostalgia that makes for great conversation and memories.

Been meaning to come here for a while, as I’ve been for music events but not for the food! The atmosphere is GREAT for a show, everything I’ve seen here has been fun. Note, as usual, drinks are expensive during concerts… pregame before. Food is okay, the burger was very good, but basic. It had a chargrilled taste, which I don’t find very often with burgers and I love it. Fries were good but nothing outstanding, but the tots were fabulous.(Who doesn’t love tater tots though?) Zucchini sticks were good, but I suspect that they were frozen and fried up… nothing from scratch. Service is okay. I could tell our waiter really tried, but the seat-yourself-and-we’ll-come-to-you thing is always off putting to me. There just wasn’t a lot of attention from the staff in general outside of getting water every once in a while. Overall, just okay. Outside of a show, probably will not go out of my way to come back to eat.

Blueberry Hill is a definite line item in my Saint Louis restaurant places to try before you die. Good solid food, huge menu, great bar and bartenders, mostly friendly staff, frequently great musical acts, and more character than most of the rest of what remains of the loop put together. Get a burger for sure, great burgers, fresh produce and fantastic waffle fries. Who doesn’t love a good waffle fry?! Their draft beer selection can’t boast to be the biggest but that really doesn’t matter when you’ve stacked the lineup with the all stars like they have! They serve a solid bar food menu until I believe 3am, which is definitely a plus. The duck room is also a large part of the drawer blueberry hill. Long known to be the favorite performing venue of the legendary Chuck Berry, if you do your research it’s not hard at all to catch him on stage for ridiculously cheap still tearing the roof off! The service is not always the best, mostly just slow but I’ve never had any huge issues. Definitely not the place for a meal on a deadline though.

This was the first restaurant I’ve been to in St. Louis. Whoops. My table of three was seated promptly since we seated ourselves. Uncouth but not unheard of, I gave them the benefit of the doubt since the waiter came promptly. We ordered a pitcher of Woodchuck Amber Cider to go along with the heart-stopping pub food that we were expecting to get. However, we ended up finishing the pitcher before the food got to us 35 minutes later. I did not realize why it took 35 minutes to cook a beef patty, until I realized that what I got wasn’t patty but I hockey puck. The medium rare wagyu beef patty that I expected was cooked well done… And the meat product was questionable — one would expect the wagyu beef to be moist, but since it was so done, all I could taste was the texture of sandpaper. But, I will give them this: their potato chips were really good. Crispy on the outside and thick enough on the inside so that the inside is fluffy and chewy. They were great! Could’ve used a touch more seasoning, but otherwise I can’t find fault with them. Let’s talk about the rest of the burger outside the hockey puck. The buns weren’t toasted, which ought to be a sin. Even Burger King toasts their buns. Even McDonald’s toasts their buns. There’s no lettuce or tomatoes in your burger but hey at least there’s a single onion ring! I guess with beef that doesn’t taste moist or rich, fresh vegetables cutting through the supposedly-fatty patty aren’t required… The BBQ sauce that it came with was decent, but the wait times were incredible and the service severely lacking. When the check came, the sums wern’t even listed beside the items bought. You just get a lump of numbers. They claim to not have register… my volunteer organization of 5 people in a gift shop had a register. Drinks are good. Avoid eating here please.

Tourist trap anyone? Blueberry Hill, what seemed to be a brilliant stop on the loop for us out-of-towners turned to morass of figuring numbers on a bill after a mediocre meal. The wings were dry, and the fries are extra average. For as much as I’m paying for the burger I have to individually buy overpriced sides! How tragic for a restaurant with so many accolades. And for a table of five there’s an added 18% gratuity, just my luck. No wonder it’s the best place to eat alone! If you have to do the bill yourself you’ll be waiting another 20 minutes tallying items, and another 15 waiting on them to get you change while you look at strange and poorly done taxidermy on the walls while your shoes get covered with dust-bunnies under various chairs. Do yourself a favor and go across the street to salt and smoke, don’t waste your time eating this sub-standard American food.

Solid place to drink and /or just enjoy your bar food. Positives: definitely a lot of room with lots of tables, big 2 sided bar with multiple bartenders. Waiting staff is friendly and quick. Drinks here are a positive! They don’t water down your drinks with soda or whatever, they definitely load up on the alcohol and make them strong. No real negatives I can complain about. Food came out at a decent speed, some tables weren’t cleaned but that’s alright, they have a lot of seating

I found my Christmas Dinner at Blueberry Hill and had a fun time, too. I was one of the many folks who had to work on Christmas Day and when I got home at 3:30PM, the last thing I wanted to do was prepare a holiday meal. As I relaxed with nice cold winter beer, I search Unilocal and the internet for restaurants open for dinner. I found a couple open and serving luxurious prime rib meals, but after a 10 hour work day, I just wanted simple and relaxing. I then saw Blueberry Hill was open and thought, «Why not, it should be fun.» I finished my beer and we headed over to The Loop. I lucked out and found Prince parking directly across the street. As we exited the car other diners were arriving. Once in front of BH, I pulled on the door and it was locked. Immediately I thought, Oh, no. Then I read the sign, they’d be opening at 5PM. We arrived 15 minutes early and it was a good thing we did. In a flash, there were over 2 dozen folks waiting for the doors to open and by the time they did open there were 4 dozen. Once the doors opened, it was obvious who had been there previous years. They knew how the system was going to work and rushed to the appropriate lines. Once inside, you were informed that there was no table service and to place your order at the back booth. When you placed your order, you got a number and they told when to be at the kitchen pass through window to pick up your order. This may sound like a pain in the ass, but they had it down to a science. We enjoyed a beer, a shot of scotch while waiting and when it was my time to be at the pass through window, my number was called shorty after I arrived. My dining partner claims his was the best Fish-n-Chips he has had in STL. I think they were good, but not the best. My Reuben with a side of French Fries made for an unusual Christmas Dinner, but fulfilled my needs and received a spot on my Reuben List. It was obvious some of these diners come every year. The crowd was fun and full of the holiday spirt. I hope to be prepared for future holiday dinners better, but BH made my 2014 Christmas, unique and memorable.

A friend of mine from that area recommended this restaurant. I loved it!!! The décor with memorabilia from the superheroes, Pac-Man(it’s own room), and other figurines took me back to my younger years. There are framed pictures of the owner and various famous celebrities for all to see. As for the food, well, when I went there about noon and got a close parking space on a Sunday, I was really not that hungry. I ordered their famous burger and the blueberry pie. The smell of the burger was so inviting. I was surprised that I ate it all, as again I was not that hungry. The unique blueberry pie was so delicious, too. The prices were reasonable. What more can I say, but definitely go if you are in the area.
