Don’t be fooled when Jim comes to give you an estimate on a job, and sounds like the most knowledgeable guy you could hire. He’s knowledgeable, sure, and his guys do good work. But he is impossible to work with. We had to call and call and call and call just to get him to come over and write up our contract. That alone should have been a red flag, but I felt like he was really busy, and I gave him a chance anyway. A month after signing our contract, he still hadn’t started work, and I had to call multiple times again to complain before they sent someone over that day. Work took about two weeks to complete, but they never told us they were done. We paid half up front, and he still hasn’t come to collect the other half we owe him. I called and left message after message asking if the work was done, and if he wanted payment. Once, I reached a woman at the front desk, and she told me Jim said he’d already gone over the work with my husband and paid him. Which never happened. Finally, after 8 phone calls, the one time I don’t leave a message, he calls me back and gets an attitude with me because I want him to come over, do the lien waiver, and collect the other half of his payment. That was three months ago, and he still hasn’t come to collect payment. I shouldn’t have to beg a contractor to let me pay them. It’s insane. So I’m still sitting here, holding this money. Waiting.
