I have to say that this is an excellent way to both learn about the city we live in but it’s a fun way to get everyone in the family out to search around the city! While, I doubt that I will be getting all of the cakes, I will try to get as many as I can!

.Saint Louis has a rich and diverse history and what a better way to celebrate the 250th birthday than by placing 250 uniquely painted cakes around the metro area highlighting all the places that help make Saint Louis home to us all. In preparation for the 250th anniversary of the City of Saint Louis, local artists were commissioned to paint a giant birthday cake for various places around our great city. I have to agree that finding one of these amazing cakes while out exploring our wonderful city is a great surprise however if you are feeling more adventurous you can search out all 250 of these works of art with the help of a number of blogs tracking the cakes location. Either way, the cakes are a fun and unique way to celebrate 250 years.

I think this year is my favorite you for living in STL. I get to go on a cake hunt all around the city and surrounding areas. Let me not lie, I have this wonderful app on my phone that tells me where all the cakes are, but instead I like to just stumble upon them(it makes it more exciting). When I see a cake I shout«cake» and then either run to the cake, pull over to get a picture with the cake, or sometimes I even have to turn around to get close to it. I want to get a picture with as many cakes as I can. I don’t want just a picture of the cake, I have to be in the picture in order to prove to myself that I was there. The cool thing about these cakes is that they are all created by local artists and are scattered all around the city. They are colorful and they all tell a story! I know there are some blogs online where other people are taking this cake hunt more seriously than I am so if you are really interested in learning more about the cakes feel free to search for the blogs. I agree with Steven B. this is the best way to celebrate the«Quarter Millennial Birthday» of STL. Go have some fun and explore the city… you may even find a cake or two!

There could not be a funner way to celebrate the Quarter-millennial birthday of Saint Louis, then searching out and finding 250 birthday cakes that are works of art. They are all located at a historical or tourist points of interest within the metropolitan area. They each stand 4 feet tall and are festively decorated to match the location of the cake or just as a work of art designed to celebrate this big birthday. Mandie M. inspired me to search out and visit each and every cake. So I went to their website, printed out the list of cake locations and now I am on a mission. It is going to be a great way to experience new places in my hometown and visit some of my favorite haunts. I encourage my fellow Unilocalers to do the same and have fun as Saint Louis Celebrates its’ 250th Birthday.
