Dr. Goodman pulled the WRONG tooth out of my mothers mouth. Dr. West charged us over a $ 1,000 for fillings in my daughters teeth which have caused her pain for over a year. I took out a loan to pay for it and then they sent me ANOTHER bill on top of that. Now a part of a filling broke off and they can’t make time for her when she’s coming into town. Gee Sorry was the response.

If I could give Dr. Goodman a lower rating than one star, I would. He placed two crowns on my top two molars and did so in a very poor manner. Of the two teeth he crowned, when placing the permanent crown on the second tooth, things went very badly for me, and resulted in my fleeing his office in tears after he pulled the crown off and replaced it repeatedly on my sensitive, drilled down numb of a tooth, in an attempt to «make it fit» when obviously it did not. He even tried drilling on the molar beneath it to make it work bite-wise, and that did not feel good at all. I kept motioning that I was in pain, and as someone who is difficult to numb, he did give me one injection(after he’d started on me with no Novocaine at all, which is ridiculous), but it wasn’t enough and it was too late, as my nerves were already beyond irritated and inflamed. The resulting pain was horrendous. That’s when I vowed never to let him touch my mouth again, even though he wanted to do two more crowns on my bottom two teeth. I am so happy I didn’t allow that. Fast forward to a few years later(yes a few years … as I avoided all dentists after my last traumatic visit with Dr. Goodman). I finally broke down and visited a new dentist(someone who is known to be conservative in their approach to tooth care and restoration, and someone who caters to those who have had bad dental experienced) because a large chunk of the molar at the very rear of my mouth fell out. Coincidentally if not suspiciously, this tooth was directly behind one of the crowns that Dr. Goodman placed … the one he placed with much pain, at that. Turns out the crown was not a proper fit, and due to the poor margins and alignment of the crown when it was placed, food and bacteria were able to lodge between the crown and the good tooth behind it. I ended up having to get a root canal on that previously healthy tooth, thanks to the bad crown put into place by Dr. Goodman, all of which had to be replaced at 100% cost to me. In addition to the root canal and crown replacement on one side(the left side), the crown Dr. Goodman installed on the other side of my mouth(upper right molar) is also in need of replacement, due again to the same reasons that the other crown was in need of replacement … poor fit and exposed margins. It makes me so angry. I spent about $ 2500 on the two crowns Dr. Goodman placed in my mouth, plus $ 1500 or so more for a root canal and crown I needed on the previously healthy tooth, which decayed due to the extremely bad crown he placed on the tooth in front of it. My ex asked why I didn’t call his office to request replacement work/crowns, but that was a no brainer for me. I’d rather pay for my new competent dentist to redo all of Dr. Goodman’s crappy work, than to risk ever letting him near my teeth again. Dentistry shouldn’t hurt, and a dentist who has been practicing for as long as Dr. Goodman should be able to place a crown correctly. Unfortunately in my experience at his office, it did hurt … a lot, and the crowns were placed very wrong. If anyone doubts I’m exaggerating here, I will be happy to show them the x-rays taken by my new dentist, which clearly show the botched crowns. I just hope to prevent anyone else from experiencing the same misery and financial distress I’ve experienced at the hands of this dentist.

Doctor Goodman has been my dentist for over 15 years. I can not think of going to someone else, unless it’s his partner, Doctor West as a fill in. This is a great practice. A few months ago, I cracked a tooth while dining at a restaurant late on a Friday. I called the doc’s emergency number because I was flying out of town on Sunday. He told me to come in Saturday morning(they are closed on Saturday) and he would check me out. He did and made a temporary fix to my tooth which took the pain away. I went out of town, had no problems and he immediately got me back in to finish the job when I got back in town. BTW: When I went in for my Saturday visit and I asked if I needed to pay him, he said, «Let’s get you fixed and we can worry about that later. I think your insurance will cover it. Don’t worry.» Wow…now that’s patient care! It all ended well and I will never forget his concern for me. So, if you need a dentist and want to be in good hands, check out Doctor Dave Goodman. The practice is Goodman & West. They are in the Medical Building A next to St. Anthony’s Hospital.
