Sauder makes a variety of ready-to-assemble furniture for your home and office. Their products are sold online and in a variety of stores. In many of those stores, you’ll probably only see one or two items – maybe a bookshelf and/or a microwave cart. Sauder Furniture Solutions, however, specializes in Sauder furniture. You’ll find lots of assembled pieces on display so that you can get a good idea of what the finished product will look like. If you don’t want to assemble the furniture, this store can do it for you. Assembly fees vary depending on the size and complexity of the product. I’ve had a few Sauder pieces over the years, but I just learned from their website that Sauder rhymes with Chowder. I’ve been pronouncing it as if it were a homophone for solder. Boy, is my face red. :p Here are a few things to consider if you’re thinking of making a Sauder purchase: CONS –To my knowledge, all Sauder furniture is made of particle board. –As a result of the particle board material, your Sauder furniture likely won’t hold up as well as all-wood furniture, especially if you(or your kids) tend to be rough on things. –Assembly for some pieces can be complex and frustrating. For example, my husband and I bought a dresser, with sliding drawers and lots of moving parts, that took several hours to assemble. –As you are assembling your furniture, you don’t want to over-tighten anything. You don’t want your screws to crack the particle board. –If your purchase doesn’t come with all of the pieces, you might have to request the missing part(s) from Sauder. I’ve done that once, and it only took a couple of days to receive the missing screw. It’s also worth noting that the particular item I had purchased came with many, many parts. One missing screw is understandable. PROS -«Quality particle board» seems like an oxymoron, but I’ve been pleased with my Sauder purchases. –Sauder furniture might not be as durable as all-wood furniture, but it’s cheaper. If it becomes damaged, it’s not as much of a loss. Though, I do not recall ever damaging a Sauder piece. –Sauder furniture looks nice and is a good option for thrifty people. –Because Sauder pieces typically aren’t as expensive as their all-wood counterparts, you have greater financial freedom to change your style. –Assembling your own furniture can be rewarding. When your piece is finished, you can look at it and say, «Yeah, I did that.» Putting together this kind of furniture is about as DIY as I get. :p — Sauder Furniture Solutions is a bit tricky to find. It’s at the intersection of I-55 and Lindbergh. Unless I’m missing something, you’ll turn off of Lindbergh as if you are going to Marshalls or Wendy’s. You’ll then drive behind Wendy’s. Sauder Furniture Solutions will be straight ahead. It shares a building with Mattress Firm. Just look out for cars! It’s kind of an odd little shopping area. I’ve actually never made a purchase at this store, but the employees have been very helpful. I just can’t provide any insight regarding the purchase and store assembly process. Be sure to ask for a catalog. If you want to see how a certain finish will go with your home décor, I believe they also have swatches that you can take home. Just ask!

I have actually never heard of this place but I was in desperate needs of a replacement for a shelf at home that has finally ran its course and while looking around for places on my map, I saw a notification for Unilocal check-ins! Lo and behold, it was Kitty W checking into a furniture place(props to her). I then told her that I have been looking for a simple-looking shelf. My mother is coming in a week and I don’t know where I could find something affordable and easy to put together. She was so kind to take some photos of possible shelves for me so I can look at it before going into the store and even found out that they do put together furniture for the costumers for a price. This week, amidst all the cleaning and craziness, I found a bit of time to visit the store and took a look at their selections. I did find quite an interesting variety of shelves but I ended up going with a cabinet/shelf combo for slightly less than $ 200 after taxes! There were 2 guys in there, one was at the checkout counter and the other was building a furniture(I am guessing for their show room). I was never bothered while browsing and the guy even made sure to ask for my ID while checking out since I was using my card. :-) That rarely happens even though my card specifically says to check my ID. Overall, I had a pretty good experience. It’s a little out of my way but it worked out. The shelf is now looking beautiful and is holding up quite well.
