Gibbol’s Novelties & Costumes

This place is amazing. I came in knowing only what makeup colors I wanted and left with everything I needed. Not only did Lois and Andy take the time to figure out what I needed from what I was trying to do, they made sure to save me money while doing so. I had a great conversation and look forward to when I have a reason to come back. Also where else can you see magic tricks while shopping?

We rented a great Lion costume for a parade. The costume quality was excellent (big mascot type costume). Everyone was very helpful. Cost was very reasonable. I would highly recommend.

These guys were great, they went out of their way for us to rent some costumes for a party we were going too! They opened early for us and even stayed late to let us return them. They costumes were awesome, clean and we received a ton of compliments! I couldn’t recommend them enough– ya gotta love a great locally owned business!

This conversation below is why I now LOVE, not like, Gibbol’s.
Me: «Hi, I’m calling to see if you by any chance have an adult sized… uhh… dog costume?»
Owner: «Well, OF COURSE we do.»
Me: «Of course you do, right!»
Owner: «You should see him, too… he’s a tan fella with the sweetest little face.»
Me: «Sold. When can I pick ‘him’ up?»
So far this woman’s little shop in the middle of the landing has been there for me through several extremely odd requests, and she’s just such a doll and will go out on a limb to help you find whatever it is you’re looking for. She’s also extremely affordable and flexible with rentals, return dates, etc.
It’s worth a visit for sure. Stop by and see what funny & unique things you can find!

Solid selection of souvenirs and costumes with a super friendly staff. While not somewhere I see myself needing to visit on a frequent basis, worth noting the friendly service and low-​key atmosphere.

Pretty awesome selection of costumes, costume accessories, wigs, make-​up, magic tricks, gag gifts… you name it! Every time I stop in this store I am amazed at how they can fit so much stuff in so little space. They even have a limited «adult only» section which mostly contains bachelor/​bachelorette party gag gifts and things of that nature.
I usually buy fake eyelashes, wigs, and related items when I visit Gibbol’s. The woman who works there is super nice and always willing to help me find a specific wig style or color. The wigs they sell are high quality kanekalon fiber which is very easy to work with and looks more realistic than the cheapie wigs you find during Halloween and at other stores.
They occasionally have magicians come to perform, especially on Saturday afternoons so definitely come to watch that! The tricks are really amazing and not just «kid stuff.» You will not be disappointed!
Parking is kind of a pain which is why I do not come here more often despite it being not too far from SLU. That’s probably why I didn’t give it ⁵⁄₅ stars.
