Man vs Gyro! I ordered the jumbo gyro and they mean jumbo. It came stacked with gyro meat, lettuce, feta cheese, and tomatoes. It also came with a knife and fork luckily, it’s so stacked the bread can’t hold it! So I wouldn’t recommend eating it in the car, but definitely would recommend it any other time, enjoy!

Ok let see if the Gyro House is still the same since it move blocks down from U-City to the Westside in St Louis. oh and they are under new ownership I think for the 3rd time. Years ago I would have Unilocaled this place as a 4 but on this latest visit it was at best a 2.5 Baklava: Now I have never had it with a hint of cinnamon, which I liked. The phyllo dough was flaky and crispy like it should be. The walnut and syrup were fresh.(You can tell when baklava it’s not fresh by the syrup being very runny) What I didn’t like is paying $ 2.50 for a triangle. I could have sworn I was told it would be the square(or 2 triangles put together) for that high az price on 1 triangle I got to go with 2⁄5 all day Reg gyro. To make this real simple and quick: Pita: fresh and warm Tzatziki sauce: cool and flavorful garden fresh Tomatoes onions lettuce: fresh and crisp Gyro meat: room temperature Ok which of the 4 choices above do not belong?^ Here’s why the gyro meat was room temperature: The guy gave the meat from the spicket that was ¾ gone. Come on, I should gotten meat from the full spicket ;especially since I was the only one in there @ lunch time. The sandwich wasn’t bad but it could have been better 2.5 out of 5 Overall it’s not the same place I once had to go to get a Gyro as in the past. There are other places now that do it a lil bit better.

It isn’t fancy, in fact, it is somewhat of a dive but the food is phenomenal. Get the gyro salad on the fly and I promise that you will be totally satisfied. Absolutely delicious! We love this place. Plus, the new location is easier to park, nicer, and larger with more seating.

I hate this place. Consistently poor customer service. The employees seem annoyed when a customer comes in and they actually have to work. I’ve never been greeted with a smile or been told thank you. Food is OK but will easily set you back $ 15 – 20 for a full meal, which I find a bit much for a hole in the wall Greek place. Also, I saw the guy behind the counter use his bare hands to put the toppings on top of my salad. Nasty! He couldn’t just slap a glove on? One time I ended up waiting 20 minutes for my food and I was the only one in there! No one said, «Sorry for the wait» or, «Your food will be out soon.» Just reheat the damn spanakopita(which I’m pretty sure they do), plop some salad and tzakiki in a box and I’ll be on my way. Never coming here again. The whole experience is crap.

Gyro House is one of our go-to’s for carry out on those«non-cooking nights». The service is fine, they’re friendly but nothing over-the-top impressive. However, they make one of the best gyros I’ve had in St. Louis.(Maybe other than Ari’s on Hampton.) The jumbo gyro usually makes two meals for me(it is just as delicious cold, the next day for lunch) and one very large meal for my husband. Loaded with meat and feta. Super fresh veggies(because no one likes a soggy tomato chunk). Oh, and the tatziki is amazing… I’d like to buy it by the container! Lots of garlic and onion = Yum. Go here when you want quick, easy, satisfying, and delicious.

Food is good, staff is nice but there is nothing special here. We have been going to gyro house for long time. Mostly because it was one of the only carry out Greek cuisine in the area. There are much better places now that are closer but we stopped here in a whim tonight. I got the gyro salad, it was very large and tasted good. My hubby got a super gyro and it was also good. I got the falafel and hummus appetizer and both were seriously underwhelming. We also got the baklava, which I don’t think could ever taste bad, it was good. The whole dinner was almost $ 32!?! Too much, if you ask me. The restaurant itself would send Robert Irvine into shock. Hand written notes dismissing use of the bathroom, household appliances when there should be commercial, a serious lack of decorating and need for new furniture/interior(even though they moved to this location not too long ago — the walls have major holes/blemishes). The place was decently clean though. Stop here in a pinch for a pretty satisfying meal, but don’t expect something special.

UNDERNEWMANAGEMENT! Bright, clean, friendly, still excellent food and the service is kind and attentive. Still no bowl for the Gyro salad so it gets all over you from the platter it’s served on, but I can live with that. Great food, great service.

Gyro House is officially the Best Gyro in Saint Louis(according to me) A friend recently wanted me to go to the Loop, and check out a place for gyros, and I was like«Hell yes, I’d like a gyro!!! Let’s Go!!!» When we got down there, I spotted the Gyro House sign, and thought«That looks promising…» but he drove right past it. I was like, «Where are we going? That place said „Gyro House“…» He said the place he was talking about was Pita Pit, on the other side of Pi, down at the other end of the strip. I was at a loss, because this place was called the Gyro House. I mean, they named a house after gyros, it has to be the better pick… Right? But he talked me into checking out Pita Pit first. When we walked into the Pit, it struck me as a «Mediterranean Subway»,(very clean, very commercial, with all the veggies pre-cut and waiting for you to build your perfect pita) and behind that a flat top. No vertical broilers, a flat top,(which as every gyro loving eater out there knows, means that they have gyro meat that was probably made properly elsewhere, prepackaged, and drying out in a freezer, losing its flavor and deliciousness). When my friend asked what all game on the Gyro, they said«whatever you like»,(as you can build any pita to your liking). I decided I had seen enough, and told my friend, today there will be a throw down on the gyros. I walked down to Gyro House, to check it out. As soon as I walked in, I could smell the deliciousness of the vertical broilers, slowly spinning their meat spools. And the look of this place was that of a family owned, one of a kind small business, which looked like they would do gyros well. I immediately knew this was the right place. I looked over the large menu, and decided on the Jumbo Gyro($ 8.25). I got the Jumbo, because the regular Gyro,($ 6.50), doesn’t come with Feta, and to add Feta, was $ 1.50,(which was $ 0.25 less than the Jumbo which includes Feta and also extra meat,(extra meat is usually $ 1.50 as well, so the Jumbo was clearly the better deal). But when they handed me my order, Jumbo didn’t clarify it enough… It was huge,(and smelled delicious). I brought it back, so we could sit down and compare the two. But I’m telling you now… There was no comparison. The Gyro from the Pit, had an impressive wrapping,(a large thin pita that fully encapsulated their Gyro) but that’s where the impressiveness ended. The Gyro was largely lettuce, with grated Feta, and some Gyro meat in there, which was cooked on the flat top and chopped up,(like Philly Cheese meat would be). There was also a little tzatziki sauce as well which was ok, but nothing special. The flavor was alright, but I’m guessing the Pit caters more to Pita eaters, and not Gyro lovers. Next, it was time for us to try the Gyro House gyro. When I unwrapped the Gyro House gyro, it was mostly meat,(there must’ve been over 10 strips of meat cut from the vertical broilers, layered on top of lettuce, and thick tzanziki sauce, with big chucks of Feta). But the meat was clearly the star of the show, moist and delicious, you could taste the love cooked in every bite. THIS was hands down the winner, and each bite proved that fact. When we were done, we walked back down to the Gyro House, so my friend could get another one to go,(I assume to get the other lesser gyro out of his memory). The Gyro House has unseated two other Gyro places I had found in town, that previously have held the title of Best Gyro in Saint Louis,(According to me,(and I’ve been eating Gyros for over 25 years of my life, all around the world)). It hits on all marks. The tzanziki sauce was a thicker sauce than the usually tzatziki sauce you find most places,(which is usually runny). I’m not sure if this is the distinction between the«t» and the«n» but both are traditional Greek names for that cucumber yogurt sauces, and I’ve never really paid attention to the spelling before, just the taste, which at the Gyro House was amazing. Everything about this gyro was amazing! So now when anyone mentions gyros in Saint Louis, I let them know that the Gyro House is officially the Best Gyro in Saint Louis,(according to me). I cannot recommend this place highly enough. If you like gyros, and you’re looking for a great one, make your way to the Gyro House at 6152 Delmar Blvd. You will NOT be disappointed.

These gyros are amazing. Disclaimer, I’m not a gyro expert. I haven’t eaten very many gyros. But the food that Gyro House churns out is fantastic. Their falafel is great too; I got falafel sandwiches the first few times I came with friends! But their gyro is great, lots of meat, and a great price. The place is small but clean – when we were there, it was just us and one other couple. For some reason, they were a bit slow, but it was worth the wait. One sandwich was more than enough for dinner, and I had enough leftover for lunch the next day(win!). Within a walking distance of my apartment and my workplace – I’ll definitely be back again.

I’ve been going to the Gyro House for probably 10 years — starting back in their old location over by Blueberry Hill. I usually get the large size gyro which comes with a lot of extra meat, sauce, and the trimmings. I’m into hummus, too, and if I’m really hungry I’ll order that as an appetizer. But I haven’t tried much of the other stuff, I’m just into the gyros! The Gyro House is a great place, clean, relaxed, great service, and friendly people.

Had to try this place out(I need no excuse for a gyro). The staff here was pleasant and the gyro was absolutely delicious! My favorite part is the tzatziki sauce, it was thick and delicious and felt homemade. This is definitely a place to keep in mind. The menu is limited(but in my opinion what more do you need besides a good gyro) and the prices a tad high but overall I was very satisfied and will be sure to be back again. A positive is you can order ahead and delivery is avaliable as well.

I just tried this place for the first time. I ordered the Gyro. I will start with the pita, it was good and freshly warmed on a heated grill. The Gyro was simple and purist with the lamb meat, shredded lettuce, chopped tomatoes topped with tziki(sp?) sauce. The sauce was excellent. However, the tomatoes were terrible. They were hard, like wintertime tomatoes. The tomatoes are the only reason this is not a 4 star review. I will go back but might try something else.

The price is right and the location is decent especially when in the loop or at the pageant/moonrise. I had the gyro and found it mighty tasty and well portioned. The down side was the pita(arguably not super important when eating open faced sandwiches) was rather stale making it hard to cut into and definitely reduced the star quantity. The staff was friendly enough but I was in a rush so I didn’t ask for it to be remade. I’m almost certain they would have made me a new one. While I wouldn’t object to going here again, I certainly won’t go out of my way to go here.

We stopped for lunch today with two small children, and the service was wonderful. The whole staff(two young ladies and a middle-aged lady who may have been the owner) were very friendly, laughed with the kids, and treated us very well. The food was really good, and the price was great. My Jumbo Gyro was plentiful enough that we didn’t need to order separate food for the kids. My husband’s kebob was very good, too. The space was very clean, even the bathroom looking as though it had been freshly cleaned. We will be back.

Gyro House is the real thing, St. Louis’ original, most authentic gyro shop and is still the best thing to satisfy those sweet lamb jones. The jumbo gyro no feta(not a fan of cheese on gyros) with extra tzatziki on the side for dipping and a liberal smearing of sriracha on the pita is a lunch I can seldom pass up when in the area. My only complaint is that there isn’t more than one location, but then again were it a chain it would almost certainly lose the authenticity that is so appealing in the first place. Visit this gem of a gyro shop today! and tomorrow, and the next day, and the next. I’ll see you there because like me, after the first visit you won’t be able to resist.

We were across the street at the Halo Bar and were starving so I walked across and ordered a Jumbo gyro and fries for my wife and I. The food was really good here and they had several different Greek dishes available. I will certainly eat here again and would recommend it to anyone else that might be sitting at the Halo wondering if the place is any good. They were a little light on the cucumber sauce so if you like cucumber sauce, ask for some extra and also for extra napkins since they only give you one.

It pains me to write this, but this place has gone downhill to the point that I have no plans of returning. For a long period of time they served the best gyros in St. Louis, now they are basically terrible. Dirty place, bad service, and bad food.

I found nothing special about this place. The gyro was decent. I would get that again if I’m ever in the area and craving Greek. The lamb kebob for the same price had just a few small cubes of meat on top a big bed of lettuce. The proportion was all wrong. It was weird. The folks working there seemed like they would rather kill themselves than splurge the tiniest smile. Somewhere over course of the night, I thought the place was gonna burn down after smoke filled the entire room twice over. Clearly there is no fire alarm in this joint. Ending on a positive note: the fried cheese was tasty!

Found a delicious gyro place in Saint Louis, YES! Had an assortment of meats… I’m not particularly fond of falafel so I skipped it. But I wish they had shawarma! Other than that, the service was really sweet and it was pretty enough to sit outside. Every part of the meal was delicious, from the yogurty sauce to the pita bread. Can’t wait to go again!
