Totally in love with both of the Half Price Books Locations in St. Louis! The staff are friendly and willing to help you. Best part was that they didn’t judge me or give the crazy eyes for having $ 100 worth of books in my shopping cart. Personally, I’m a huge young adult reader so I mainly stayed in that section. Paperback books are typically under $ 6 and hardcovers almost always under $ 10, which is a great bargain for me. I love how the books are sorted alphabetically and that it’s a good mix of both paperback and hardcover books. The selection of books is great and I was really happy with what I ended up getting.

This is like a thrift store that only sells books and media! It’s great. I love it. Everything is cheaper than Amazon/eBay, and it’s just a super chill place.

I’m crazy excited to finally have a ½ Price so close to me!!! And just in time for Christmas shopping! I know that I’ll be getting more than a few gifts there — for family, friends and for myself, of course! Now, if you’re already familiar with ½ Price, you’ll probably notice that the layout of this place is quite different. So it can be a little confusing at first and you might have to ask to be pointed in the right direction. But they have a great amount of space and great selection!

This bookstore is a bibliophile’s dream bookstore, especially if you love to read and have a wide variety of subjects and interests that you like to read about. This is a new bookstore that has only been open for two weeks. It is a discounted type of bookstore where you don’t pay the publishers’ retail prices for anything. Many of the books were what could be considered new merchandise, and some of the books were«used» books that people brought in and the bookstore bought from them. It seems like their buy back program might be good for those who buy books and then bring them back when they are done reading them. It’s got a good selection of books in all different subjects, and a large children’s section. They have a fiction section with contemporary and classic fiction as well as many non fiction sections, that includes an history section that covers military history to general history and specific nations and areas like South and Central America, Asia and Europe. There are a lot of books for United States History. The shelves are wooden and not metal which gives it a more comfortable feeling, and there are tables with chairs scattered through out the store. It kinda reminds me of a combination of the old Library Ltd., Borders and Left Banks Books before LBB did that terrible remodel. I went in the morning shortly after they opened and the store was quiet, clean and easy to browse through to find that special book or the book that you have to have.

I cannot believe we are getting a HPB so close to St. Louis City. What did I do right, God? In case you don’t know, HPB is the BEST used bookstore on the PLANET. It is SUPER organized, has the BEST freaking selection, and the BESTSTAFF of any business EVER. I mean I love dingy, dark, cluttered local used bookstores with five cats as much as the next reclusive loser, but this place is irresistable. The U City location is slightly different setup than the other ones I have been to, and maybe not as big, but it’s still awesome. Anytime a HPB goes in, it gets negative reviews, but the negative reviews are only of people selling their books to them. This is so funny because used books aren’t worth anything and you can’t get tons of money for your used books no matter where you go. They have always given me a fair price, and also, their buy back policies are the reason they have such a good selection and such amazing prices! HELLO! You can’t have it both ways people. Other Tips: –They are doing huge giveaways this AM for their Grand Opening –They are doing huge giveaways this weekend –Get on their mailing list– I get coupons all the time –Bring your teacher ID– 10% off everything always –GETTHEIRFREAKINGCALENDAR. It is the best calendar ever. I think it comes free with most purchases, or you can buy it. It features authors literary events. Every day has a different interesting event or birthday or something.
