Helzberg Diamonds, commonly found in malls and even more commonly known for their DIAMONDS. The bling bling they offer is special and unique and people are often disillusioned because they venture into Helzberg looking for other items, maybe a trendy piece of jewelry and are often disappointed. Think of Helzberg as Godiva. Like Godiva, which is known for those amazing chocolates perfectly placed in the glass case, Godiva does offer other random things like hot cocoa, and coffee mix. But we don’t set foot in with the idea I’m hear to buy the best darn hot chocolate, no, I walk in to Godiva seeking TRUFFLES! I hope you get the point by now… that Helzberg has spent almost 100 years selling diamonds that shine and sparkle even in the most dimly lit room. OK now that I’ve defended Helzberg, lets talk about my visit. I stopped in to have my Movado sized. I had just received this beautiful watch for my birthday and I needed a few links taken out since it was moving around a tad too much. I walked in and was IMMEDIATELY greeted(awesomeness!) I explained that I need this to have a few links removed to prevent all the moving around. She smiled looked at the watch saw it was a Movado and the watch they carry(it was purchased from a Helzberg) she took the watch told me just a few moments please and she disappeared to the back. I wandered around the store drooling at the glitz in the case. My goodness Harry Winston, Erwin Pearl and Tiffany’s are stellar, but I have never really had the time to peruse the bling bling counter, and man, I need sunglasses! Anyway after about 10 minutes the young lady returned with my watch she put it on for me, checked for satisfaction and then provided me my extra links in a little clear zip-lock bag. She asked if I needed anything else and then bid me farewell. Frankly it was a pleasant visit and a smooth one at best.

Before you go into this review, for fine jewelry and diamonds, please refer instead to my review of Mavrik in Kirkwood. That is where you should go for jewelry purchases. That said, I will review Helzberg Diamonds for those that shop at malls. There are two locations I have visited, this store in the Galleria, and one in the Chesterfield mall. Now, I know to eschew most malls, but the Galleria has an Apple Store and a Lush store — both of which are wonderful. One one shopping excursion, I was looking for something for a dear friend on her birthday. Helzberg Diamonds is very short on unique, designer jewelry. Most of what they have is uninspired at best. They did have a few cute charm bracelet charms, but their selection in that category was limited to 5 – 6 total. In my most recent stops by there, the clerks are in «hard sell» mode, which is off-putting when you are considering a big purchase — like diamonds. They are apologists for the lower quality diamonds they have on display(SI1 and SI2 mostly, and well outside the colorless range). The diamonds they do carry are overpriced. If you are interested in buying diamond jewelry, first educate yourself at a great site like . Once you know what you want and can afford, avoid mall jewelers and go to a good independent jeweler — one who can do a design just for you.
