I came here with a small group during Urbana(a large missions conference), so there was no doubt that this restaurant was going to have quite a wait. We ended up having to wait for about an hour to receive our food. I ordered a mushroom swiss burger with onion crisps, and I also ordered an appetizer of toasted ravioli. We had to walk to the cashier first to order before getting seated. After ordering, we were seated and had to play the waiting game. As I was observing the restaurant, it seemed like your typical bar restaurant setting with some different signage and a chalkboard menu. There were some games to play as well. But overall it didn’t seem too bad. When our food finally arrived, I was pretty impressed with the portions. They gave you a lot of fries(or onions in my case), and the burger was nice and juicy. I kind of wish the mushrooms had a little more juice, but it would have made the burger a bit messy. Anyway, it was delicious! The toasted ravioli was also very interesting as it was my first time trying such a thing. Of course, I’m not sure if it was any good compared to the original, but I would say it was very good. It was sprinkled with parmesan and you were able to dip it in some marinara sauce. Overall, I think my experience was pretty good there. The staff was friendly and even though they were swarmed with a lot of people, they did the best that they could. If I were to go to Saint Louis again, I would give this place a shot again!

Let me start off and say if I could give this place zero stars I would… I’m a disabled Air Force combat Veteran and the guy behind the bar whom claimed he was the owner is out right discriminant. I came in with my service dog(had her lay down): then I approached the bar, in thought of ordering a burger and a drink. I came over From the Omni Hotel which I was a guest and referred by. Upon reaching the bar and even before being seated the supposed owner rudely and with a raised voice asked if I planned to sit outside because they didn’t allow dogs at all inside. I explained she was a service dog and that no I hadn’t planned on sitting outside(which the current temperature was 48 degrees). He again repeated that they didn’t allow dogs at all inside. I then informed him that I did have a service dog card and also would be more than happy to share the outlined law on Service dogs along with the phone number if he wanted to call if he had questions or concerns. He than said I was being rude and for that reason he had a right to refuse service to me. However, I at no time was rude. He just out right discriminated against me as a disabled persons and refused me services. I will personally be boycotting this establishment along with my Veteran friends and encourage anyone reading this to, along with any veterans or people with disabilities. PLEASESHARE. NOONEDESERVES to be treated different because they are disabled but some places like this are bullies. Oh there is a funky smell as well as you enter the door.

Cant comment on the food since we havent tried it. We usually go there after eating for some pool or shuffle board. Bartenders are always friendly and eager to please! We usually get buckets of beer and prices are very good! Love this place!

The steak burger was excellent, the mushrooms made it even better, and the fries were tasty! The staff was friendly. The only issues is the air conditioner was broken, so it was hot. The A/C will hopefully be fixed soon. It was loud, which is to be expected at a bar in St. Louis during a Cardinals game. I would certainly eat here again.

Had a fantastic experience here. Was a bit confused when we walked in, but then soon realized we were at a place where there are many regulars, so we’re on our own to figure it out. Then the awesome sign confirmed: If we want a drink, we go to the bar. If we want food, we go to the window. Easy. Simple. Awesome. Ordered the Cheddar Bacon Burger. Burger was really good. The cheese sauce on the fries were amazing — Not much to say except well done Jack Patrick’s! Will be back. I’m just bummed I only found this place now. This will be great before games! :)

One of my favorites for the past 13 years for happy hours, pre-game, whatever the occasion. Casual, comfortable, affordable and where everyone knows my name.

Love Jack Pat’s. we work right across the street so it’s very convienient and definitely priced right. The food is good, especially the burgers and salads. The guys working there, Kevin and Mark, are the most helpful, friendly guys that you could ask for in a bartender. I hope they keep up the good work, JPs will be around for a long time!

Surprising find in the high-rent part of downtown. I have driven past this place numerous times without ever giving them a second thought. It took a going away party for a couple of friends to get me in here but I’m a fan now. Make no mistake, this is a dive bar. Army style, now… here are 3 ups and 3 downs: + Dirt cheap top-shelf cocktails — seriously, can anyone name another place where you can get a Hendricks g&t for $ 5? + Loud enough music that you know it is there without having to shout over it. + Dark enough to know that you’re in a bar without being so dark that you have to squint. — Dirty bathrooms — Dirty kitchen… but they seemed to turn out good artery-clogging bar food. — Drink quality seems to depend on which bartender makes your drink. Did I mention $ 5 top-shelf mixed drinks? That’s a deal-maker in my book, especially downtown…

Probably would have given them three stars if I didn’t have such a good time here, but I did. So they get four. Husband and I attended a going away gathering here last night for some friends. We both had Hendricks Gin and Tonics, double lime. My first one was not very good — it was in a short glass with two limes but they were both so dry that it was like they weren’t even there. The next few(ahem) were served in a tall glass and tasted much better. I ended up getting a plate of limes and just using them at will — it was nice of them to give me free reign over their limes. The bathroom was reasonable and they seemed to have a varied selection of music. They also have one of those indoor shuffleboard tables. Anyway, the place was a nice, non-intrusive backdrop for a fun time with friends.

This is my place! I walk in, and they know what I want. The bartenders are all socialable. The owner is here most nights. The food is great as far as bar food goes. The price is right, and best in downtown. No one tries to be anything their not. If you want to relax and have a drink downtown, there is no better place.

During my epic jury duty week earlier this summer, I had a chance to check out the always entertaining Jack Patrick’s Bar and Grill which I had been to before but never reviewed for some strange reason until now. Jack Patrick’s has been downtown for years and for the most part stayed the same throughout it’s long history. And that’s quite alright with me. So first thing you’ll notice about Jack Patrick’s is that it’s in the middle of downtown. Great location for those professionals working or if you are hanging around for a Cardinals and need a bar to drink at. Also this place is very accessible via transit which I really enjoy. In regards to the ambiance of the place, it’s definitely a dive bar. There are plenty of TV’s to go around but it’s a bit of a throwback compared to sleeker bars just over on Washington Ave. The service is pretty standard for a bar and the bartenders are very friendly for the most part. I enjoyed the food which is pretty greasy and will possibly shorten your lifespan by a few years. For those who are really into cheap, greasy eats and like a place you can watch a game then come on over. If you are on a diet, then I would avoid it.

Road tripping through St. Louis we decided to stop and check out what downtown St. Louie had to offer. After walking around and seeing the sights our hunger grew and so we turned to trusty ol’ Unilocal to find the best sports bar around(had to catch a little March Madness) and this is the one we concluded to visit. The atmosphere was pretty cool and we enjoyed it quite a bit. The service was very friendly and made my 8 minute wait to order at the window very tolerable. It’s the food that got me here. I thought ordering a burger that was named after the place is always a safe bet but what I got left a lot to be desire. An okay tasty burger topped with a bean filled chili that just plain and simply didn’t taste good. At all. It really just was an awful experience for the senses and left me to write this mediocre review. Now maybe I’m a burger snob and have embarked on an endless quest to find that amazing burger that’ll knock my socks off that makes any other burger that falls short of that bad. Maybe the burgers where I come from there are just head over heels better burgers than everywhere else so it taints an accurate assessment of other towns’ burger culture. I don’t know. What I do know is that I was thoroughly disappointed at the quality of food at this place and my experience overall but then again maybe that was just because Oregon ended up losing that night.

Visiting St. Louis and happened upon this bar while attending a convention at America’s Center. Only a few blocks away. Great friendly service. You can tell this must be a local favorite. Every good item we have tried has been excellent and affordable. Highly recommend!

As a Happy Hour spot, Jack Patrick’s is perfect: it’s a short walk from a number of the larger office buildings, has tons of seating and is generally inexpensive. They offer patio seating on nicer days, a no-nonsense drink menu and I cannot ever remember having problems with any of the staff. The pool tables, Golden Tee, shuffleboard and other games, in addition to the TVs, offer a number of distractions. What’s pleasantly surprised me is the consistently satisfactory nature of their burgers though. A few others here have mentioned the bar food, and with good reason: it’s delicious(in a «yeah… that was satisfying!» kind of way). By default, the burgers here are served plain(lettuce and tomato are available, but by request) on a roll that, if it wasn’t in reality, reminded me of brioche(not that you’d use the word«brioche» here…). The side to get? Fries. Thoroughly seasoned but not disproportionately salty, they’re an excellent accompaniment. A simple meal, executed very well. Juxtaposed against its corner neighbor Bailey’s Range, it might seem strange at first that this place would even bother with burgers anymore, but I’m glad that they do. Where Range fusses over house-made sauces and locally exotic menu descriptions, Jack’s simply doesn’t. Where Range includes no sides by default, Jack’s pairs its sandwiches with at least a handful of fries or onion straws for the main price. Where Range serves your drink in a decorative glass, there’s a good chance you’ll get a paper cup at Jack’s and little(if any) table service. Maybe it’s not so strange that both places can exist harmoniously after all… Note: There’s a small sign noting as much, but if you miss that, do know that you have to walk over to the window to the left of the bar(if you’re facing the bar and Jack Patrick’s indoor sign) to place food orders. All drinks, including water and soda, are dispensed at the bar. From the food/kitchen window, there’s a menu to the left. Note also: They don’t really do carryout. Food is served in a small paper basket, but, while I doubt that they’d bar you from taking that with you, proper to-go containers and foil wrapping isn’t available.
