Johnny Mac’s Sporting Goods

The guys have made a living out of stealing from the customers. My son returned some items last week and was provided with a gift card. He went to use it a week later to find out the balance had been cancelled. They told him he didn’t have the receipt for the items he returned. We all knew he didn’t have the receipt and that is why they issued the gift card instead of cash. They won’t make this right and won’t return his items. He cannot participate in his sport now because they stole his money off his gift card and he can’t afford a new bat. The manager there said he didn’t find the items in inventory and won’t refund the items or money. This is downright stealing by deceit from a young student athlete. My son is overcome with anger with adults trying to take advantage of him. My family is devastated how a business would steal from kids and they threated me. My argument is why did they issue the gift card and steal his items and then cancel it. The have some members of upper management there (Clay) who is stealing. Rumor has it he has a garage full of items taken from the store. This is just wrong to do this to a young teenager. Please do not shop there and give them your hard earned money. They are rude and ignorant. They at one time called me a problem customer because I always used a coupon. How is this a problem customer when they make the choice whether to take the coupon or not. They are very dishonest people. Please shop elsewhere or on-​line. People need to stick up against people like this. We put Sports Authority out of business. Let’s put them out of business too.

My family purchases quite a bit from Johnny Mac’s as my son is a three sport athlete. We purchased an Easton hockey bag only to have it fall apart a few months later. We were advised to contact Easton as it was passed the usual return period. They told us to ship the bag to them. It was going to cost nearly as much as the bag to ship! I informed Johnny Macs and they agreed to accept the bag as a return (I had the receipt-​yay!) and gave me a choice of merch. Credit or a new bag from Easton. Way to go Johnny Macs for taking care of a good customer! And thank you Bobby for following up! Keep up the good work!

I haven’t quite figured out how come Johnny Mac’s is my last stop because every time I go there, I find exactly what I need!
Being a sports fanatic, it is important for us to be able to show our team spirit as well as have equipment for our personal uses. At least 3 times a year we are here because they have a particular hockey stick that my husband needs. We have come here for all our STL team needs and now are outfitted to show spirit.
The staff is always willing to help and they have a good selection.

Although they have a smaller footprint that Sports Authority, or other national chains, I always seem to find what I need here. And the staff seems much more knowledgable.

They have a better selection then Total Hockey. They had the skates Bauer vapor X50 that I wanted where Total Hockey didn’t have any of the 40s 50s or 60s in my size or one below or above. I thought although that the service was good from the guy that helped me out and he handled the impatient mother ahead of me very well. (She tried to put an adult mask on an junior helmet and was mad at him that it didn’t fit right)
I just wish Johnny Macs had a website that you can purchase things on like every other company since the closest one is 230 miles from me.

Ordered a lettermans Jacket in Nov and today received it without any patches sewn on. Asst Manager Jordan was completely rude for no reason from the second we engaged him. He was obviously having a bad day, but that shouldn’t be taken out in his customers. Even a co-​worker commented to him that he was «stressed» while we were trying to leave. After refunding our money for work not completed he threw the jacket and patches on the counter and walked away. No offer of a bag, an explanation, or an apology. His behavior was unprovoked and unnecessary. I have shopped at Johnny Macs for years, but will not go back.

I try to have as little to do with sports as I can. Unfortunately, my husband and brother are both crazed about sports, and I am occasionally forced into a situation where I have to buy them something. Needless to say, I feel like an ass having to walk into a shop full of knowledgable sports-​types and admit I am clueless and angsty. This very situation occured at Christmas when my husband wanted the Blues third jersey (I only know the name because I had to ask for it several times) and every store I tried was out of his size. I sucked it up and walked into Johnny Mac’s. They were friendly, helpful, and thank GOD they had the jersey in his size. I would feel comfortable coming back in my clueless state.

My job puts me in some strange situations… Last week I had to find a way to blow up a 6′ alligator pool toy as well as a giant kiddie pool. I tried a bike pump — no luck. Air mattress pump? Nada. There’s NO way I was blowing those suckers up manually, so I wasn’t sure what to do.
Someone I know suggested calling up Sports Authority or ohnny Mac’s. I tried Sports Authority first, since there’s one close-​ish to my house. They were less than helpful. So I was a little nervous to try Johnny Mac’s. But I’m glad I called when I did because Jordan, the assistant manager at the Watson location, was super helpful!
He told me to come in and to bring the alligator with me. That was kind of funny, but I did it. We found that the only air pump that works on toys like this (thanks, Oriental Trading!) is a relatively expensive air compressor. He even suggested I price shop online or around town before shelling out the cash OR let him fill up the alligator in the store and I could take it home.
In the end, I bought the compressor because the idea of driving around town with a 6′ inflatable alligator seemed a little silly. And I host enough parties with various blow up items (insert clever joke here) that the compressor was worth the cost.
So if any of you need help blowing up kiddie pools, beach balls, alligators or any other «adult» items, hit me up! I got the goods from Johnny Mac’s!

chad profiles and sharpens skates better than anyone i’ve known. i bring my skates down from chicago and am even converting some teammates to do the same.

Absolutely great selection, the staff has always been very helpful, and now that their corporate offices are in this location as well you can be assured the store is clean and everyone on their best behavior!
