Knodel’s Bakery

Sooooo my boyfriend ordered my 40^th Bday cake from here in December and it was perfect, I ordered my grandson’s Ninja Turtle number 5 Bday cake in January which was not as good as mine but was still ok. I have also bought a pre-​made cake that was to die for. So I decided to order a cake for Valentine’s Day. I called in and told the lady what I wanted, which was a square strawberry shortcake. She gave me prices for 2 different sizes, advising me the cake is sliced and fresh strawberries are added to the inside & on top with my choice of whipped or butter crème. The ONLY difference in price is in the sizes. I decided that I would go in & place the order as well as put down a deposit. A few days later I went in & spoke to a different lady who gave me different prices & then told me it’s EXTRA to add strawberries to the strawberry shortcake??? I told her about the conversation I had over the phone. She then went behind a curtain to get another lady who came out with an ATTITUDE and tried telling me the same thing. Saying strawberry shortcake is a specialty cake that ONLY gets strawberry jam & I have to pay EXTRA if I wanted strawberries. We went back & forth until finally she says «If you are uncomfortable don’t place a order then» I was OUTDONE! I advised the lady that I know my options. And one of those options is to use another bakery! I also advised her that her smart mouth & unprofessionalism was totally unacceptable and that made me uncomfortable so therefore I would be taking my business else where. Never AGAIN Knodel’s!!!

My first experience with Knodel’s Bakery was positive. Complete perfection! Moist cake with delicious, fluffy frosting. Definitely looking for an excuse to purchase a cake from Knodel’s. Two thumbs way up!

Drive by all the time and finally decided to stop in. Can’t believe what I’ve been missing out on this whole time! Best gooey butter cake in town! Can’t wait to try more of Knodel’s delicious creations!

I ordered two dozen cupcakes from the Chesterfield location of Knodel’s (Knodel’s West). Unfortunately I did not get what I ordered. The cupcakes looked completely different from what I wanted which is strange since I picked a design from their image gallery. I would expect that they could replicate what they have already done — but evidently not. (??)
The cupcakes tasted good. Nice flavor, just enough icing. But nothing remarkable.
I wouldn’t go back to Knodel’s. There are too many other places with great bakery goods. The best cupcakes I’ve found in St. Louis are at Baby Cakes in O’Fallon. Jilly’s runs a close second.
