«What? I don’t understand. No, it’s not your accent, it’s your mask.» Van is the bomb. She gives extremely thorough, excellent manicures. The salon itself is pretty run of the mill and not especially charming. There is a similarly priced place nearby with a little more ambiance. Still, I go here so I can hang out with Van.(Bonus: walking distance from my apartment!) She just moved here from Vietnam in October, but don’t worry, her English is really good. It’s just really hard to understand her when she’s got the mask on, but I wouldn’t want to breathe nail polish fumes all day either. Don’t come here if you’re in a hurry. Van takes her time to make sure you have a great experience. The staff is small so there isn’t a lot of simultaneous mani-pedi going on, you’ll get your pedicure and then your manicure. Van has never made me bleed from the cuticle trim, unlike some other salons. One of my favorite things about the mani-pedi here is that they absolutely don’t rush you out the door. I’ve been to other salons where they make me pay with wet nails, thus ruining my new manicure. They want you to take your time at the drying machines to preserve your pretty nails. Since Van and I are practically BFFs at this point, she massages me while my nails dry if nobody else is there. I can’t promise that she’ll be so nice to you, but I tip very generously, so you should too. There could be perks involved! Last time I was there, a woman came in at 6:55(they close at 7), and they took her in for a mani-pedi. I’m not saying I recommend making them stay late, but it just shows that they go above and beyond here. At the time of this posting a mani-pedi is a mere $ 30, a manicure alone is $ 13. Since it’s such a bargain for excellent work and friendly service(they remember me here!), be sure to include a nice tip. I’ve only had natural nail services, but the salon also offers: Thai foot reflexology, ion foot detox, silk wraps, acrylic sets and fills, and therapeutic massages. A tip: there are meters, but if you go into the parking lot with the dry cleaner just north of the salon, there are spaces reserved for Natural Nail customers.
