Not impressed at all. As with all health practitioners you want to feel like the doctor/dentist you are seeing actually has some interest in you. My first and last experience with Nikodem Dental at Butler Hill in S. County was exactly what you don’t want to happen. The hygienist who cleaned my teeth was very nice and did a great job and then came the dentist that I had to wait over 10 minutes for as the practice is very large. This was my first time at the practice and you would think the dentist would introduce himself, ask if I was having any issues with anything, ask if I had any questions for him, anything something… nope, just came in, introduced himself and went straight to poking at my teeth. He was in and out in 2 minutes. While I have no issues with my teeth or gums and am healthy I was still stunned by the lack of patient/doctor interaction. He seemed more interested in chatting with the hygienist than with getting to know his new patient. If I did have a tooth issue I would really be upset that such a disinterested doctor was the best this practice offers. I made(which I have since cancelled) an appointment for 6 months and was glad I would at least be seeing the same hygienist but who knows which doctor will be there. Even if it is this young doctor I saw on Thursday he doesn’t know me from anyone else and because there is NO patient/doctor relationship happening at Nikodem I will not be back. Even worse is that my children see their dentist in an office similar to Nikodem, lots of hygienist and then the doctor comes in, checks the kids and chats with mom and dad. But at least my kids dentist takes the time to talk to me, ask me if my kids are having any issues, tells me what to expect as they continue to grow. How sad that I have a better relationship with my kids dentist who shows genuine interest in her patients then I got out of a grown man working with other adults. I guess I was spoiled by the small dental practice I was at for years before my change in insurance. Time to look for another small practice. If you value a doctor/patient relationship, STAYAWAYFROMNIKODEM.

By far the BEST experience I’ve ever had, at ANY dental appointment— I’m about as terrified as they come of dentists /and dental procedures. I’ve been holding off on this one for about two years, one of my teeth rotted completely into my gums, and was nothing but a gross rotted stump of a tooth. My other tooth was cracked open, and I could literally feel extreme shooting pain on the roots/nerves every time I took a breath, for nearly two years I lived in pain because of being afraid of the dentist. In the past, I’ve probably had the worst dental care as it comes, from free clinics in north city, to a dentist up in Clayton whom cost an arm and a leg just for a consultation/exam. All were painful, at times very rude, and the more expensive ones were condescending, pretentious, not to mention unskilled/abrasive, causing uncomfortable/painful experiences. All of my bad experiences with previous doctors/practices caused obvious hesitation and fear. Furthermore, one of my first experiences in my youth, I was physically abused by a dentist so an extreme paranoia/anxiety/distrust of the entire experience is inevitable during every appointment. Up until now, the best dentist I had been to was in Eastern Europe.(Bosnia) where I lived a few years ago.(which isn’t saying much because the tools/resources they have available are pretty primitive) And hilariously enough, he spoke super poor english! :) I’m sorry, but our healthcare system in the US is a total joke, and up until now, I had lost all faith/hope in dentistry. I’ve been holding off on this procedure for years, and every day I’ve been in pain ranging from moderate to extreme(debilitating/bed-ridden pain) So here I am, I find Nikodem dental online because they’re the most affordable extraction I can find in St. Louis for removing the two molars that have been causing me pain for a very long, long time. —- I arrive: The staff /receptionists/nurses. EVERYONE at Nikodems were totally awesome. Super friendly, personable, answered all of my questions without making me feel stupid for asking, didn’t talk down to me/look down at me for not having insurance or being concerned about being able to pay for my procedure. They were amazing. There were a lot of people there, but as a new patient I showed up as they asked early, and they literally got me in RIGHTONTIME. I’m so used to waiting around for hours and being treated like crap. Then on top of it, when the time came for me to sit in the chair, Dr. Hill, was UNBELIEVABLE. Dr. Hill is a MASTER of his craft/trade. He’s a dental artist. Unbelievably talented, awesome guy. A total rock star. I want to send Dr. Hill a trophy, seriously. I’m in total awe at how easy/painless this went. I didn’t even feel ANY of my shots, and after being numb I put on my headphones, and the procedure began(FORTWOTEETH) two beastie boys tracks! I didn’t feel a thing, he extracted the teeth, and I was out! I think it took maybe 5 – 8 minutes tops. Dr. Hill, if you read this, you changed my life! I’m a loyal patient for life. By far, Nikodem Dental is the Harlem Globetrotters of Dentist offices. Go there now, I’m happy I did.
