Awesome diner in an unexpected area. Food, service and prices were great! We will definitely be going back!

Diner was a throw back to days gone by, no loud music, noise, quaint booths and stools in the color teal, wait staff pleasant and helpful, chefs fixing order tickets in front of patrons behind the bar, no pre-pressed burgers! Food was delicious, made to order! Enjoyed the«diner» experience very much! Will be back! Note: sign above entrance door only says diner! Yes, it’s this one! Come on in!

The only starts this place has earned is for the service. The food was bad, the ingredients I am not sure about, and sanitation is below average. However according to Unilocal this place is spot to get breakfast))) good luck!!!

Amazing place. We have been coming here every week for year! Food good. Services fast. Keith is the best! He also interacts with my son and gives him prizes. My favorite meal there is the French toast, my son gets pancakes and Fiancé gets hot hash and gravy! We are basically regulars! I love how the food is consistent!

Late Sunday brunch success! A tight squeeze for 3 into a 2-man booth, but we toughed it out for biscuits & gravy, crunchy bacon, and surprisingly good coffee. My dining partner’s French toast was a wee bit underdone, teabags were decaf. only(oddly), and the wait was long, even after we were seated. So, not great if you’re in a hurry. But, we weren’t, and I enjoyed the bustling diner ambiance! At-the-counter experience always great for singles. Clearly a lot of regulars, so that’s a good sign. Cash only, as far as I know.

I’ve been going there for a while and their food is really good but what make this place special is their service! They are dedicated to making sure you are 100% satisfied above all else! I drive past 3 breakfast places on my way there and the trip is always worth it. They have earned not only my repeat business but also my respect as well! Thank you Olivette Diner can’t wait to go back!

My favorite diner so far. Get there early because it gets packed and seating is first come first serve. It’s a very small place and it fills up fast. It’s also cash only, but they have an atm there. I always order the omelet and hash browns. Always consistently delicious with good service!

Might be tight during the busy lunch rush but the double cheeseburger was GREAT! Grease dripping down my hand, and crispy, crinkle cut fries, the best, cheap, diner fare I’ve had in ages

Olivette Diner its old, its a little sticky, the everything is well worn. But the well seasoned wood paneling on the walls probably tastes better than most breakfast joints pancakes. You are exactly what you need to be. Good food, at a good price. Quick enough service and friendly staff make you a great place to get your breakfast on. There is plenty of opportunity to clean this place up a bit. But the food and service speak for themselves.

The Olivette Diner is located in a little strip mall. From the outside it doesn’t seem like much, but the staff, food, and regulars make this a great breakfast stop. Everything I’ve had there has always been good. They have some of the best french toast I’ve had. Their hash browns are great. The staff is always upbeat even during busy weekend mornings. For those of you old enough to remember the 70’s band Head East, this is the diner they were sitting in in the photo on the Flat as a Pancake album. They have this album enshrined on a shelf by the door. This is a great place that you can’t go wrong at.

The Olivette Diner is a really good greasy spoon. It can be difficult to find the storefront signage consists of a modest size green script sign the reads«Diner». It is old school with some chipped Formica counters. It has old school vinyl booths around the edge. For service I think this is an above average diner. The best service is for those seated at the diner. The service is less frequent at the booths and tables. I have actually used the booths for internal client meetings quite well! For the history and music buffs the band Head East recorded or filmed here for one of their records. The people here are fun and interesting to talk with. I always have interesting and or amusing conversations. Vince is the owner and is frequently he catalyst for these interactions. Some of my favorites 1. Crab cake Benny — covered by homemade hollandaise(I believe) and homemade crab cakes(I have my doubts — same size and they really look like Sysco). Regardless this is my favorite. It all goes together well. 2. The lox Benny — same as above except they put out NYC quality lox. I don’t remember if this comes with capers, if not request it. They really add to the hollandaise sauce. I have never had their lox and bagel but I can’t believe it could be anything but excellent based upon the lox. 3. Corned beef hash — a respectable version made better with their gunslinger hot sauce. 4. Double burger with cheese and bacon. It is a solid lunch option. A few odds and ends notes: They often have blue plate specials that are really good as well. They do not take credit cards but they have an ATM machine on site. This place is well worth the hunt!

Food: mediocre Waitstaff: uncaring & inefficient I recommend City Diner or even the Maryland Heights Denny’s over this place. Two food items were missing from my order when the blonde waitress brought the meal. I asked about the items. She brought one item, plopped it down & walked off. I waited, but she didn’t come back with the 2nd item. I finally had to get up, go over to where she was, and ask again for the rest of the food. The restaurant was not busy at the time.

Don’t get me wrong this place is ok. Sure its cash only and on the weekend it’s difficult to get a table but hey the coffee is good. Its diner food y’all. There is nothing different about this place. The food is average diner food and done alright. This is a neighborhood spot, but nothing I would go out of my way for. Its not bad and not gross but nothing that I salivate over.

One of the best diners I’ve visited in a good long while. It’s a cash only establishment so come prepared. The prices are good and the food is hearty. It’s not big and a true diner in every sense of the word. Nutshell: Nothing fancy. A hot, hearty meal at the right price.

Great diner, great grilled cheese, in fact perfect grilled cheese! Of course they will add anything to it for a price $ but I would go simple. Fries are okay. Ask to have em crispy so they are cooked all the way thru. Great place for a burger and breakfast as well best looking hash browns. Cash only but there is an ATM inside for all those who don’t carry cash… Yeah, it’s not spotless this diner but it is cheap and good food!

This place is so good that I don’t even want to write this review because I would just as soon keep it to myself and the people who already know. But that wouldn’t be fair to the business, and I do my Unilocally duty. So here goes — Teen 2 had an appointment and we bribed Teen 1 to join. We decided to run a few errands while we were out, which resulted in much grumbling from the back seat. We decided to try this place in an attempt to soothe the savage beasts, and boy did it hit the spot! Between the four of us we had: biscuits and gravy, pecan waffle, fried eggs, scrambled eggs, bacon, hash browns(you heard me… any other breakfast potatoes are unacceptable!), and toast. Oh, and both girls ordered milkshakes because YOLO. I tried everything that was mentioned above and it was ALL amazing! Generous portions, good value, and a menu that is flexible enough(for lack of a better word) to allow you to order whatever combo you want without incurring pricey a la carte prices. Teenaged girls are rarely quiet, but we didn’t hear much of a peep out of either of them while they mowed through their respective plates of food. B&G was creamy with a generous amount of sausage-laden gravy. Pecan waffle was full of pecans, crispy on the outside but melted in your mouth. Eggs were cooked exactly to order. Hashed browns(the most important part of the meal, IMO) were perfectly crispy! The God of hash browns smiled upon Teen 1 and I today — this is a rarity and we will be back to see if it was a fluke. The service and ambiance were no-frills, think Mel’s or any other small diner.

I’m impressed! I’m really impressed! I’m so impressed that I set this review aside while working on a couple of others just so this could be my 500th review here on Unilocal. This place is a total throw-back to the heyday of the greasy spoon diner. Small, cheap and delicious. This is most certainly not a place for fancy stuff, fusion or chef’s creations. This is not a place for anyone on a diet. This is also not a place for special orders. This is most certainly a place that was making comfort food looooong before that ridiculous label was ever contrived. Order off the menu. Order something you know. Prepare to be amazed. I went with a pecan waffle. It was loaded with large pieces of pecans and cooked perfectly. Slightly crunchy on the outside. Fluffy and moist on the inside such that it let off a little puff of steam when I first cut into a section. The waffle melts the butter perfectly and then you douse it with syrup. No need to ask for a second little cup of syrup — it comes with it and it is warm. Take a bite and be amazed. This is exactly how a waffle should taste. Kid 2 ordered biscuits & gravy. I am not a huge fan of this dish but love to have a bite or two. I managed one bite and was amazed. I would have liked another bite but wouldn’t risk getting stabbed with her fork so I left it alone. I was really impressed with how many chunks of sausage there were in the gravy. Also, the biscuit was light and fluffy. The wife had fried eggs and hashbrowns and loved her food. Kid 1 had scrambled eggs, hashbrowns and bacon. She loved her food and I got to love a piece of her bacon. It was flat-top griddled to perfection. It is worth pointing out that the service really sucked. I didn’t deduct a star for that because the food was THAT good and everyone loved their meal.

A classic diner with an ambiance that is stuck in time and that is part of its’ charm. The waitresses are a cross between Alice and Flo and the short order cooks are a cross between a young Mel or Oleg. We were in need of a new breakfast adventure and had other errands to run on Olive, so I thought OD, would fit the bill. We lucked out and snagged the last booth upon our arrival. The breakfast selection was so huge I had a hard making my choice. I knew I wanted biscuits and gravy and was pleased to see I could just order 1 b&g. That way I get a taste and can still enjoy another breakfast entrée. My breakfast partner knew instantly what he wanted, The Hot Hash & Holly. Which is; Potatoes O’Brien(hash browns with onions, green peppers and ham grilled in) topped in melted cheddar cheese, then two eggs your way and then topped again with their house made Hollandaise sauce. I could hear his arteries clogging as he ate, but I knew he’d die happy from his grin that went ear to ear with every bite. I wasn’t that adventurous, I went with one of their three egg omelets. You create your own here, pick one cheese and three ingredients. My choices were; Pepper Jack cheese, with sausage, onion and jalapeños. A side of crispy hash browns and wheat toast completed my entrée. The omelet was fluffy and stuffed with my selected ingredients. They were not stingy with any of them. In fact, they could of held back on some of the jalapeños. They were so spicy, I started to sweat on the top of my head. The one buttermilk biscuit was flakey, split and topped with creamy sausage gravy. Huge chunks of sausage were visible in the gravy. I hate it when you need to get out your reading glasses to see the sausage, but not here. I don’t think the biscuits were made in house, but I could be wrong. It was just to perfectly shaped to be house made. However it really doesn’t matter, because the creamy gravy topping it made things okay. When: 27 Jan 2014 Why: Breakfast
