I don’t go tanning much but for a vacation prep. Amanda that works there was very knowledgable and professional. She got me started and I did not feel pressured to over purchase. I continue to go back bc of her and the pleasant experience.

It is true their customer service sucks, the ladies are nice enough but really trained not to give at all, I thought it was just me and bad luck but time and time again they lack. Once they sold me an expensive 3pc skin care set, one of the items was broken and wouldn’t dispense(it was a roller applicator) and they said well sorry were out of those so can’t switch it out! I’m like ok… How about a partial refund? Each item in the set averages about $ 40 each… Nope not going to happen… I was stunned. Then I wanted to cancel a monthly billed service and every time it was a song and dance about the cancel form, I finally had to call the main office and have them mail me one while they claim they are readily available in the store! Then this last super turbo package I purchased, they rang me for the wrong one, the beds below that level so then want me to pay and upgrade every time instead of just paying the difference in price between the package cost… It was their mistake and their attitude is like oh well… So that will be an extra $ 3.85 per tan to upgrade to the bed you originally asked for. After this package I am done. Oh then there is the countless mornings I’ve sat outside waiting up to 30 mins past store opening for them to get there and finally gave up and left, unsure if the store ever actually ended up opening that day. Really frustrating!!!

I have never been a customer of Pacific Beach Tanning, and I never will be one. I came out of Kohl’s to find their flyer stuck to my windshield — literally stuck — as in, half of it stayed on my windshield when I tried to peel it off. I tried calling their number to complain and to suggest that they refrain from doing this during the rain, but the recording said«this person is not accepting calls right now». Then I realized we were driving right by the place on our way home, so we stopped. I very politely asked to speak with a manager. Lexy told me the manager is at a different location today. I asked her to call the manager so I could speak with her. Lexy asked why, so I explained the situation. Lexy then called the manager, who REFUSED to speak with me. Lexy explained the situation and told her manager she would handle it. I explained to her that she will not«handle» me, and that if the manager will not even speak to me to apologize, I would be forced to call their headquarters(I called the regional customer service number just now) and write reviews all over the internet. I asked Lexy for her name and the manager’s, which was Angela unless she was dishonest too. Lexy said I could just use Windex and scrape it off. I said I shouldn’t have to do that, and she said«we are just doing our job». She also refused to give me the manager’s number. If that manager will not even speak with an unhappy person and tells her employees to deal with it themselves, she has no business being in the service industry. She needs to be run out of business.

I use to work at Pacific Beach, so I know a lot about tanning. They really do have the best beds at the best prices, like they claim in all their commercials and radio ads. However, I think a majority of their staff is uneducated and undertrained when it comes to recommending lotions and packages to new customers. I witnessed a bride-to-be come in(I was sitting in the lobby, waiting on a bed) who admitted she never tans, but wanted some color for her upcoming wedding next month. The best the girl behind the desk could come up with was to ‘buy a month in any bed package’. The bride-to-be said she needed to think about things and ultimately left without anything-no package, no lotion, no tanning knowledge. Sad.
