What a cool place to come to! The inside was decorated with lights and the food was AMAZING. Try the shrimp nachos for sure it was spicy but the most amazing nachos ever. Their syrup for the pancakes were really good as well. You’ll get full pretty quick!

I recently went to eat here and had a great experience, and have already been back to visit! They have a great burger for $ 6 usually you can’t get one for less than $ 10. And their delicious spiked milkshakes are to die for! The service was great each time and the staff was very friendly, we were all laughing! Two thumbs up I’ll continue to spread the word!

I’m glad I didn’t look at these reviews before trying this place because I probably wouldn’t have gone seeing that it doesn’t have many great ones. However, my fiancé and I ate here a couple of days ago while we were staying in St. Louis and we both decided that this is our new favorite place to eat breakfast in St. Louis! We’re both pretty damn serious about our food and grew up in Southern California where restaurants HAVE to be good to survive and Peacock Diner reminded us of home. I did a «build your own omelette» with black bean burger, spinach, and mushroom, and he got the Finals Sandwich. Both were DELICIOUS! Our service was also wonderful. We had our order taken right away and our waitress was really sweet(red hair, can’t remember her name or else I would mention it!). Overall, we had a good time and we will definitely be returning.

Great diner with a retro vibe. Cheap yet delicious fare met my expectations perfectly, though the selection is slightly sparse for a diner. Burgers and fries exceed what I’d expect at that price point. Wait staff was very polite, but not very chatty(which I have no issue with). The apple pie was delicious, though it looked like it was being microwaved to get it ready to serve.

After a hard days work, this is the place I go. The waitresses are more than nice, they chat with you and really seem to care about you. I always have fun with them and their lovely personalities.(: The food is phenomenal a long with their Margaritas. The atmosphere and music is perfect. I’d give this place more than 5 stars if I could.

Forced to try this crap of a diner again, the service is non existent and the staff is a joke. No one to take your order and finally after what seems like an eternity they bring out half of the tables water. No one came back to refil the drinks some left without ever placing a food order.

Food wasn’t bad, but it certainly wasn’t good. Limited menu options. Service was slow, and waitress didn’t come back with refills. However, everyone was pleasant and the unique style of the diner was fun.

Was recommended by friends. I ordered a burger and got little black hairs in it. Disgusted! I’m never going back. Really slow service. No one even spoke to us for about 25 minutes after we sat down. Why is this place even in business? Not sure how they pass food service regulations.

This is a time when I wish they had half stars as I would give Peacock Diner 2.5 stars. My husband has been trying to get us to go there because he was involved in the design/build process and wanted to experience it. We decided to try it late one night after going out with friends. Due to circumstances we hadn’t had a chance to eat so by the time we got to Peacock we were famished. Being later at night, the place definitely had people but was not packed, so we chose to sit at one of the counters. Atmosphere wise, this place is very sleek and retro feeling, from the LED lit counters to the ball light fixtures. One thing I loved is that it did not smell of diner food and you left there not reeking of fried food. This is where things start to get a little hairy. We were greeted by one server who took our drink order and served us waters who was extremely nice and helpful. She may have been a manager but I am not completely sure but she answered a few questions we had about the selection. Then we placed our order with another waitress who was nice but didn’t really engage us in conversation. Loving all breakfast food, I chose the Veggie Omelet with toast and Dan got the Sunrise with toast. The wait for our food was a normal amount of time but when we got our plates both of us had very burnt toast. Being a huge toast person, I was extremely disappointed and our server never came back to check on how things were so we could not exchange it for different, less smokey pieces. My omelet was fine, nothing outstanding but it was satisfying and Dan said his was good, eggs cooked to how he liked it. When our server did come back, Dan asked her how the pies were which she described their pecan pie very well and we decided to get a slice. We waited over 15 minutes and finally decided to just cancel the order due to our very long wait. I was so disappointed because the server did a great job selling it, but then wait was unacceptable. I noticed that the pies were already sliced, they just warmed them up in the microwave for about 2 minutes and then put ice cream and caramel sauce and done. Our server was apologetic about the wait. Overall, I think we would maybe go back for a late night bite but this is definitely not a go to breakfast spot for us.

Subpar service, mediocre food and drinks with a dash of booze. Edwards failed on this one.

As I exited the doors of the diner — my mind fixed on my resting meal — I encountered a man on a most peculiar means of transportation. After he introduced himself as ‘Jamal with a C’, I enquired as to the nature of his vehicle. «Is that your scooter?» I questioned into the night. «Yes» replied Jamal, with a smirk on his face. «May I ride it?» I tempted. «No!» He boasted, with a voice that could inspire a nation. «That’s what I wanted to hear, Jamal with a C. That’s what I wanted to hear…»

This is one interesting little hole in the wall. The Peacock Diner is like Blueberry Hill mixed with a 7-eleven, except clean. I love the lighting and the décor. The service is very similar to that of Blueberry Hill, which is reminiscent of going over your uncle’s house who doesn’t really want you there, and deep down you can tell, but you stay anyway and he takes good care of you cause you’re family. You come in, find your seat, and eventually someone will see you, grab you a drink, and then get someone else to serve you. I used to work at Blueberry Hill as a cook so I was perfectly fine with this. Me and my girlfriend came here to eat on saturday night/sunday morning 12/12/2015. The only reason we came was because it was about 1:30 am, and we heard they served drinks and we were not done drinking for the night. When we got there, sure enough, they had stopped serving as they do last call at 1:00 am. This is weird because Pin Up Bowl is ran by the same people as Blueberry Hill and Peacock Diner, and it stops serving around 2:30 am. If you own a 24 hour establishment that serves booze why not extend it as long as possible.(I can only imagine that Pin Up is actually in Saint Louis City limits while Peacock Diner is in University City, giving them more restrictions). But that was no deal breaker for us. I ordered a Hot Chocolate which tasted like water diluted with yoohoo. I had the guy cange it into a ginger beer for me, which he did with no problems. I can’t remember our waiter’s name. he was very polite and helpful. He may have told us his name but I couldn’t hear it due to the fact that the idiot in the booth next to us was playing music on his phone’s speaker. I mean who does that. The worse kind of people. He was competing with the ambiance with his own crappy mobile phone, and it wasn’t like he was playing the hottest new music. He was playing 90’s west coast rap, like he had never heard it before and if he didn’t listen to it at that very moment, he would die. I almost hoped he did. Judging by the reaction of everyone else and a few more shady characters in the restaurant, I’m sure this kind of behavior is common. I ordered the mile high chicken club which was amazing. That sandwich lingered in my dreams for nights, the fries were classic diner shoestring fries and they were hot and crispy. My girlfriend ordered the sunrise breakfast yet would not tell me how it was because she does not approve of my Unilocaling, but whatever. Our final cost was about $ 14 plus some change since our waiter didn’t charge me for the drink. I slid him a $ 20 and told him to keep the change. His reaction was proof that they don’t tip him what he truly deserves. Granted we were there at 2am on a saturday night. I hope that their crowd doesn’t deter the place from reaching the heights that Joe Edwards is striving for. Now if only we can get this Loop Trolley thing together.

Tried the brunch menu today with some girl friends. The place looks retro and bright and clean. Perhaps the food would have been better if it was brought out warm to the table. Our server was so distracted and took him forever to bring us anything. The food has the potential to be good. So disappointed with this place. Coffee was good — only thing that was good…

Lots of negative reviews here and I DON’T GETIT! My experience here was INCREDIBLE! My wife and I went with some friends on a Saturday afternoon. The server was with us within a minute and never let our drinks run out once. The food was also great! I had a double cheese burger with fries and chili, we also shared an appetizer of the popcorn shrimp nachos. Nothing was too greasy and the flavor on everything was top notch. What struck us most though, was how CLEAN the diner was. Nothing was sticky, the air didn’t smell like fry oil and I felt like if we wanted to, we could eat right off of the tables. All said, it was the best diner experience I can remember. Our experience may have been an anomaly, but I hope not, because I totally intend to go back and try it again.

Came in on a Saturday night and it was some what busy. I should of turned around at the door, every table was dirty and we had to wait until someone cleaned them off, which took 15 minutes. We finally get a table and a server comes over and explains how they are understaffed. So I figured why not place my drink order and my food order at the first encounter but the server says she’s only here for drinks. Sat for another 15 – 20 minutes and I finally got up, asked for my check and left. Service is always slow there… busy or not

New review/update because I feel differently after being served by Dennis. He was a very attentive waiter and got everything right. I got a grilled cheese sandwich and a spiked milkshake – quite boozy, I might add – and they were good and a lot of food. The Peacock was a nice place to work on my laptop while also people watching. A lot of people go in and out of there… I would give this place another chance!

Had I checked Unilocal before walking in here, I probably wouldn’t have done it. That being said, I think they must be taking their negative reviews seriously and improving. Our server was very prompt and courteous. As said in many of the other reviews, the atmosphere is great, I love the diner feel. The food wasn’t super great, but it was by no means bad, I’m sure it’s better than anything you can get in an actual diner.

Just awful. It took forever for our order to be taken, and the food was so greasy it was nauseating. Got the grilled cheese and the fried pickles(which seemed like the least offensive choices on a fairly schizophrenic menu), and it may have been the only time I regretted a post-bar meal. Plus they were blasting Rage Against the Machine — at 3 in the morning! Maybe they judged the mood to be «let’s keep this party going,» but looking around the place, the overall vibe seemed more like, «I hope I can stay awake long enough to eat this food and make it home.» There’s a really easy fix to this place, and it would be to(1) stick to the basics, e.g. mozzarella sticks, chicken fingers, burgers, etc.,(2) prepare and serve food with a basic level of competence, and(3) tone it down from«unbearably obnoxious» to something more akin to «tolerably kitschy.» Peacock Diner will inevitably stay in business due to its prime location, heavily invested owner, and late hours, but you’d be better off getting a snack at the gas station.

The Peacock Diner has been on my list of places to try ever since opening last year, however it wasn’t until last week that I was able to visit. After a busy day of entertaining two out of town guests, we were not done with our busy day until nearly 10:30pm on Sunday, needless to say very few places were open let alone still serving food so we decided to make a trip to the Look at try the Peacock Diner, which is open 24⁄7. Once we arrived we joined about 5 other small groups already dining, we sat in a comfortable booth which was decorated with a variety of peacock themed items. We took a look at the menu and quickly discovered that it was rather limited, with a heavy focus on breakfast and sandwiches. I opted for the Chicken & Waffles, which were pretty tasty. The chicken itself was nothing more than a boneless chicken breast, however it seemed to pair well with the honey butter and syrup. Another entrée ordered by my table was the Biscuits & Gravy, which were served with chorizo gravy, I was lucky enough to try a small sample and I really enjoyed the taste, it was slightly spicy and actually reminded me of the Creole Biscuits & Gravy served at Jilly’s Cupcake Bar on their Sunday Brunch! In addition to the standard diner items there are also cocktails, spiked milkshakes, and several varieties of beer available. The staff here is friendly and the prices are reasonable. I will admit that the food here is decent, and yes there are better options available within the city, but having a 24⁄7 diner located in The Loop makes it all the better. The Peacock Diner is an amazing addition to The Loop and the festive décor really adds to the character. I recommend checking this place out, preferably in the evening to enjoy its true atmosphere.

Aesthetically, the Peacock Loop diner is extremely pleasing — a bright, white interior with pops of peacock color throughout. The neon sign outside draws you in and the roomy interior keeps it from having that cluttered feel many diners have. When I went in yesterday morning, the Peacock was piping old soul classics through the speakers and seating was ample. I pulled up the bar since I was by myself and eventually was greeted by a super-friendly waiter. He asked if I’d been there before, and then gave me the boilerplate spiel about being a 24-hour diner. He then asked if I had called earlier that morning. I hadn’t, and he went on to explain that a woman had called before I came in asking if they served Bloody Marys that early(9ish). If you’re curious — they do. I decided to stick with water and ordered the waffle with berries and breakfast potatoes. The flavors were good — my berry ended up being of the blue variety and were fresh(pie filling would have been an epic disappointment) and my whipped cream came on the side(no need, I’ll take all of it, thanks!). My breakfast potatoes looked great and were nicely seasoned. My main complaint is that both the waffle and the breakfast potatoes were limp and had no texture other than soft. The food tasted fine but there was something off-putting about the texture — I prefer my waffles light and crispy as opposed to being a patterned pancake, and breakfast potatoes should definitely have a crunchy exterior with a velvety inside. There don’t appear to be a ton of breakfast options in the area, so it’s good that the Peacock exists, and if your meal is meh you can distract yourself with their skee-ball machines. Who can be mad with those around?
