As if offering Dollar Stag Tuesdays was not enough for this incredible location, The Crow’s Nest also boasts fried pickle spears that I would trade a kidney for. Not my kidney, because that s*%& would hurt, but someone’s. Also the bartenders on Tuesday look and act like Gandalf and Aragorn’s cooler, younger brothers who decided that F*$&(%& around with kegs was more fun than a 10 hour hike with Elijah Wood and some dumb ring. 10⁄10 would visit.

What an interesting spot! Honestly, I never would have pictured myself setting foot here but I was intrigued by the sign out front: Heavy Metal Brunch. Well. Gotta try something once. The restaurant is very dark and heavy metal music plays in the background. I normally can’t stand the music(makes me more high strung than I m already) but it was actually pretty mild and wasn’t distracting once I settled in for a few minutes. The menus are printed on dark paper, in bright red typeset. In the dark atmosphere, this makes it near impossible to read and I had to use my phone’s light. The food was okay. I had a southwest style egg taco. It was a bit on the bland side. The fruit on the side was fresh. The staff were polite and courteous. If I were to come back it would be for the atmosphere and customer service alone.

Heavy metal bar, prominent music. TVs are showing classic B movies(definitely no sports) and the menu is very dark which makes it a little hard to read in a dark bar. If you’re good with the atmosphere and friendly staff, the food is worth coming in for. Sarah and I shared a spinach salad and a new wave burger. The burger looked a little small because we came during brunch and it’s served on an English Muffin, but it was plenty. We thought both choices were very good though. Hubby had the omelet supreme with breakfast potatoes and thought they were really good. He also had a Bloody Mary which he thoroughly enjoyed. Portion sizes were not overly large, but plenty of food.

Cool outback patio that allows smoking– the food was mediocre at best. Maybe they had a off night in the kitchen?

I love this place! My friends and I call ourselves locals for sure here. Its a perfect combo of a dive bar meets cheers and serves food with an unexpected flair that definitely surpasses your normal bar food. We love the bartenders, a few we really have come to think of as friends! Come here! You won’t be disappointed!

Popped in last night with some friends after attending a small adult coloring group event up the street.(That’s another subject altogether…) The event had served mostly cheese & crackers so we were ready for some real food. First thought was Boogaloo which was closed, so we wound up at the Crow’s Nest. What a great surprise! There was a small crowd of what seemed to be regulars, Great Outdoors with John Candy being projected onto the wall, and a lot of facial hair in the room. We felt slightly out of place carrying our coloring books but we were immediately welcomed by Kenny who was super friendly. He gave some pointers on the menu and we ordered a variety of items– all of which were yummy & nicely plated. I ordered the burger(cooked perfectly to order) and collard greens on the side. They were nicely sautéed, not slimy and lifeless. My friend ordered the Fries Poutin and it was the bomb! Kenny was a great server and was even polite when we wanted to show him the pictures we had colored. :) We had a great time, and hope to go back soon! So 4 grown women carrying coloring books walk into a heavy metal bar… Sounds like the beginning to a great joke– but it was actually the beginning of a great night!

Best veggie burger ever. Falafel, smoked paprika, topped with fried sweet potato straws and on a grilled brioche bun. Got it with the side salad w/apple bacon vinaigrette. A tiny bit messy to eat but that was because I was like a dog with my face in a sack of whities– so that’s on me not them. this is my jam for every Friday during lent.

Surprisingly really great food for what looks like a dive bar on the outside. Bartenders are super down to Earth & cool.

Brunch isn’t the best. Food was way to greasy and drinks are overpriced and not well made. Good place for happy hour in the evening and that’s about it

If you haven’t done metal brunch you are crazy! Have been so many times and never disappointed. Their burgers, chicken and waffles, eggs benedict are all fantastic. Good times for drinks are full on meals. Music is at a great volume for talking, or recovering, which may be an issue for some. They have Stag on draft! Have even taken grandma with us. Get there and try the food.

Went for Saturday Metal Brunch. House Bloody Mary was good, not great. Very thin mix, whereas I prefer a thicker mix with horseradish. I ordered the Kitchen Breakfast and it was good, not great. I think the food was in line with the price. All in all, it’s good, but nothing compared to Southwest Diner.

Came here with another couple on New Year’s Day. It was one of the only places open for dinner. It’s a small joint, it has a good vibe. Everyone liked their food — I had the grilled cheese, the others had a pork dish and fish tacos. Glad to know we have another good, affordable dinner option in Maplewood.

My sister and I went here to have dinner with friends. Although our friends we running late and then didn’t end up being able to make it. Despite this, waitstaff was so nice– never being pushy about ordering and yet still checking up on us and being attentive to whether we wanted more to drink, etc. We enjoyed the fried pickle appetizer to start. I had the veggie burger vegan style(meaning it had hummus on it instead of cheese– yum!) and the smashed potatoes. The staff double checked with me to make sure it was okay that the potatoes had dairy in it which was thoughtful — I’m not vegan though so it was fine with me. I am a mashed potato fanatic, which also means I can be picky– but theirs were SOGOOD. I will definitely be going back for those! My sister had the grilled cheese with tomato jam and waffle fries and she loved it! I tried some of the fries and also thought they were pretty fantastic. All in all, it has a unique atmosphere, good food, reasonably priced, and attentive friendly staff!

What a fantastic place to grab some food! My hubby and I joined our friends Mr. and Mrs. S there the other night and I a great time! We decided to do a late lunch/early dinner before our 5p tickets for Garden Glow. And at 3:30p on a Wednesday we found a parking space no problem and basically had the restaurant to ourselves! We were the only ones at a table, with just a person or two at the bar behind us. We were welcome to seat ourselves, so we picked a booth and got comfy. I had a perfect view of Space Balls, which was being projected against one of the walls! We ordered some appetizers to start — Fried Pickles, Fried Deviled Eggs and Pork Poutine. The eggs were unique and delicious! The panic gave a nice crunch, the pickle and mustard on top gave a little zing and the tomato jam was the perfect amount of sweet! But I have to say that my absolute favorite was the Poutine! I’m a total sucker for waffles fries. I feel like they always have the right balance of crunch versus chewy inside. They were also nicely seasoned and covered with cheese and bacon. Need I say more? My hubs and I shared the cheeseburger with a side salad. The burger was so juicy and moist that it fell apart more and more with every bite. But that didn’t matter due to the great flavor! I also got to try a bite of Mrs. S’s Monte Cristo, a sandwich I’ve always wanted to try. She made a good choice — it was great! I would definitely go back to get one of my own!

My husband and I were meeting friends for a fun evening out and were looking for a new place to go. They suggested Crow’s nest. The only thing we were unsure of was that they didn’t have a real website. In this day and age, it’s kinda strange. But, we went and were not disappointed! They have some tasty appetizers. We ordered the fried deviled eggs, fried pickles, and pork poutine. Omg! They were all so tasty! The pork poutine had waffle fries, and was smothered in gravy. It was perfect. I loved the deviled eggs, never had them fried before and thought that it was a neat idea. They put a lot of thought into the garnish and it was the perfect balance of soft and chewy with a house made pickle on top. The fried pickles were spears, and they had a simple breading and also some cheese melted on top– genius! For my main dish I got the monte Cristo, which had tons of pork, cheese and pickles on it. So delightful! They also had a house made BBQ sauce which really complemented it. My husband had the burger which he said was average. Overall it was a tasty experience, and they have a fun, divey vibe going on. It’s a great place to catch a quick bite or hang with friends!

I stopped in for dinner with a friend last night after a movie. I was expecting pub food and was blown away. I had the fish tacos and a side salad with their house red wine vinaigrette. It was so good. I had popcorn with the movie and was unable to finish my meal so I brought the half of it home. I am notorious for bringing home leftovers then throwing them out in a few days. Not the case this time!

The Crow’s Nest is a great«cool» place to hang out for a drink and eat their surprisingly good fare. I say surprisingly good because their kitchen is the size of a thimble(exaggeration)…but really, it is small. I really like it because it is in the center of Maplewood and convenient to park and eat(I’ve never had to wait here). They have kind of a dark and edgy atmosphere, like a really cool pub. They show movies(sans sound) from a projector to the wall. The thing that really got us started coming to the Crow’s Nest is their trivia – which has evolved since a few years ago. They still have trivia, but with a catch – Kenny chooses the best answer, not necessarily the write answer. They have great appetizers like fried deviled eggs and good burgers and sandwhiches!

It’s kind of good. Service is terrible and snidely delivered but I’ve been to exactly *one* St. Louis restaurant where it wasn’t, so whatever. The food is passable. The menu is small. They have a lot of beers, but mainly the usual suspects.(Hey man, you got Schlafly? In St. Louis!!! Well that’s downright innovative right there I tell you what! Ooooooh Fat Tire? Man I haven’t seen that in like, 10 minutes! Awesome! You mean to tell me you’ve got that shitty Iron Maiden beer? Well fuck me sideways! How hip and metal of you, woo!) The vibe of the joint is pretty cool kind of. They play the Cure a lot on the jukebox. Eh. Idk why I’m even reviewing this, when the establishment is so unremarkable the most I can think to say is «I guess it’s acceptable mostly, I guess.»

Recent visits have included BLT, and hummus, with my dining partner ordering vegetarian(chili). We’ve both been back a few times since then. He really likes the vegetarian offerings andThe BLT is stellar! Highly recommended. And the hummus is better then your average hummus. Now…if they would only offer a few good wines… Eager to try out their metal brunch.

Well after eating at every other restaurant in Maplewood, it was only a matter of time before I made it to The Crow’s nest. This is not ur typical bar grub establishment… its atypical! They offer a lot out of a very small kitchen. I started with their fried deviled eggs appetizer… very good… just a little crunch to bite through and bam… a nice moist egg center. It’s topped with a small piece of bacon for another type of crunch and flavor… another bam! My entrée was a special 7oz. strip steak sandwich with a side of smashed potatoes… bam bam! It was a really good meal that was complimented by great wait service. I had fun and tasty event that didn’t cost a lot! Bam! Bam! Bam!

Quirky bar with staff that has a lot of personality(not a euphemism for anything)! There seemed to be a pretty good crowd of regulars on a Sunday night. My boyfriend and I went here for dinner and a beer and were happy with the selection of local brews on tap. The bf got the fish tacos with a side of salmon minestrone soup, and he couldn’t stop raving about the soup. The tacos got devoured entirely. I had the pulled pork Monte Cristo with collard greens, which were both good but kind of oily/heavy. The Fireball BBQ sauce worked surprisingly well. Would be happy to eat/drink here again.

Stopped in for a drink while visiting and I would make this a must-stop in if I ever go back. The neighborhood has darling boutique shops and then there is a gem of a little antique bar that feels sort of Brooklyn bar meets Portland bar. Loved all the punk rock and rock and new wave stuff all over. The juke box(via your cell) was playing great tunes. Only had a drink and had to go– but again. I would so go here again.

Bang your head! Metal brunch will drive you mad! Lol, so I had carefully perused the menu before we walked in on a Saturday for lunch. My dreams were pleasantly squashed when we walked in and realized it was metal brunch. What is that? Well, it is brunch with metal playing — maybe not for everyone but we were thrilled! They have Bloody Marys, mimosas, and something inspired by NOLA, gin, and an egg. Also, they appear to have a full bar w/lots of local beer. We both had Bloody Marys which were quite tasty. Thick but too thick and they had a great flavor with just the right amount of spice. The food was fantastic. The boy had fish and chips,$ 11, and I had chicken and waffles,$ 11,(shhh, don’t tell the veggie police). The fish and chips were so good the fish had a pleasant flavor and the breading was different than your standard pub breading — crumbly with a nice flavor. The chips were waffle fries and they were seasoned wonderfully and had the perfect waffle fry texture. The chicken and waffles were so freakin’ good. The chicken was tender and juicy with a wonderful breading and the waffle was huge and very good, maybe a bit on the chewy side but still wonderful. The plate was completed with butter, honey, and syrup. The Crows nest has a divey feel, which we love, and makes us want to venture over to Maplewood more often. We will most def be back to check out the bar and regular menu.
