If you love Gin, or if you are wanting to learn about Gin, then you’ve got to have a cocktail at; The Gin Room. I stopped by the other day with a friend to enjoy a cocktail. Ms Norma had told me how knowledgeable Natasha was and she wasn’t kidding. Natasha knows her, Gin and she’ll share that knowledge with you as she makes your cocktail. I’m a vodka drinker and love Moscow Mule’s and when I shared that with«The Gin Girl», Natasha made me a, «Gin Gin Mule». It simply is a mule made with a high-end Gin. I was amazed how more flavorful the mule was with Hendrick’s Gin. If you’re hanging out with friends on S. Grand, I highly recommend that you stop by The Gin Room.

Wow. What an experience. I attended a Unilocal sponsored Gin Workshop at The Gin Room having mentally prepared myself that I would learn some interesting facts, give it a go, but mostly let my husband, the gin fan, enjoy himself and play DD. I certainly didn’t expect to enjoy myself as much as I did and even find a gin and a drink or two that I actually enjoyed. Natasha, The Gin Girl herself, was our guide through our gin journey, offering 3 distinctively different gins, and she then showed us how to make a couple classic gin cocktails — an Aviation and a French 75. Though I didn’t enjoy all 3 gins, I did find one that agreed with me — the St. George — and I enjoyed both cocktails. I even ordered an Aviation to enjoy after the workshop ended. My husband, eager to try more, enjoyed a gin flight. Natasha did a great job getting to know us(and everyone at her bar) and our tastes, trying to convert me and please my husband with her flight selections. Though I don’t know how often I’d order myself a gin drink while out elsewhere, I certainly wouldn’t be as opposed as in the past and would gladly come back to The Gin Room for another(my husband is so proud). Natasha’s knowledge and enthusiasm for gin and what they do at The Gin Room make it impossible not to be drawn in and get excited as well. It was a joy just to watch her work and interact with everyone at the bar. Bonus that The Gin Room is within Café Natasha, because I also got a delicious bowl of Lamb Stew and some falafel that made me dance in my seat. Follow The Gin Room on social media, and you’re promised a lot of opportunities to get your learn on during another workshop or distiller night. Highly recommended from a former gin hater.
