Webster Garden

Had lunch with my son there today. Pretty sure the food was just microwaved. Terrible atmosphere. There were several women in the kitchen having a loud conversation about personal issues that could clearly be heard by everyone in the restaurant.
Here is the primary reason I am giving one star, which I hate to do – I rarely if ever write one star reviews: When I got to the counter to pay I could see that one woman was doing another womans hair IN THE KITCHEN! So Disgusting. Think about it. I’m no expert but pretty sure that’s a major health code violation. So gross.
When I got my card out to pay I was told, gruffly, we don’t take those, cash only! Not that big of a deal really but could have been nicer about it.
Over all the place didn’t seem that clean. Probably managing to keep the business going by serving college kids that aren’t all that picky.

My favorite fast Chinese delivery in Webster! The hot braised chicken, Szechwan beef and chicken lo Mein entrées are all delicious. Hot and sour soup and crab Rangoon are also amazing! So much flavor in everything from this place. I also like the option of the dinner combo meal — you get an entrée, fried rice & 2 crab Rangoon’s or egg rolls for under $ 10. The perfect amount! I wish they were open on Sundays, but I just plan my Chinese delivery night on another day. Definitely recommend this place!

Highly overpriced. Employees are also very cold and seem very unhappy with their lives.

Food was just ok. Ordered off the Chinese menu. Entrees barely had any meat in them. Good flavor but mostly vegetables. Service was quick and friendly. We might go back to try the Vietnamese menu, but we’ll take a drive someplace else for good American Chinese food.

Another amazing meal and oh so cold beers! Love this place! Have to eat here every time we come in town!

I really like this place. I’ve only eaten from here twice only because they only take cash. I never carry cash so every time I think to get dinner from here I can’t. I wished they would take cc or I’d order from here all the time. But the food has been so good so far.

Good food, I had the V6 which was good and the cucumber on it makes it a refreshing dish. I really don’t understand the low ratings here, maybe these people don’t understand Vietnamese food is different than Chinese food.

It is so close to my place so decided to go there with my brother. I ordered spring rolls and Phở. Spring Rolls I got was burned and taste weird and the Phở was the worse one I ever eat entire of my life. Horrible service and yes, except only Cash Only !!! I won’t be back. Go spend your money somewhere else.

I’ve gotten to go orders from Webster Garden many times but never actually eaten there. I usually order the V6, Bun (vermicelli noodles with beef and egg rolls). It’s delicious! Every bit as good as some of the more popular Vietnamese restaurants in town. I also really like their Hot N Sour soup. Worth checking out if you are in the neighborhood!

Great place for good quality Chinese and Vietnamese food. The staff is always friendly and delivery is very fast. We order delivery from Webster Garden once a month or so and I can’t remember a single time our order has been incorrect.

I got the phở. It was bland and not good at all. Not even OK. They were stingy with the veggies but they were slightly wilting and dried out anyway so I did not touch anything on that plate.
This was also not the cleanest or very appealing. I did not go in the bathroom but was advised not to (apparently dirty and very watered-​down soap)…. My boyfriend did not want to come here because he remembered the place seemed dirty. I felt bad that I convinced him to give it another shot. I personally will not give this place another shot.

This place is awesome! When I went to Webster U, you could catch me here twice a week. Their tofu is amazing — and the owners are super nice! As everyone says — the only downside is cash only.

Yummy and cheap. I like their tofu here. Always cooked great. Not a 5 star Gourmet Chinese restaurant but very good for the price! Their Vietnamese food is amazing as well. Only downside is they don’t take credit cards, but taking the cash out is worth it.

This is my favorite local Chinese restaurant, and also my absolute favorite Vietnamese food in the St. Louis area! I seriously recommend trying their Vietnamese menu. I get the V6 (vermicelli noodles with egg roll, lemongrass beef, & veggies) and it is amazing every time. My boyfriend & I are regulars, and they always remember our usual order. The owner is very friendly and you can tell he is genuinely proud of his food. The only downside is the only accept cash & check… But it is worth a trip to the ATM (they do have one inside, but charges fees for my card, anyway). I definitely recommend eating here!

Every now and then I have a craving for good, cheap ‘American style’ Chinese food. That craving has lead me to Webster Gardens twice now. And both times I’ve left only partially satisfied. Here’s the break-​down:
PROS:
* Webster Garden is one of only two Chinese places in Webster Groves. So its existence at least provides you another Chinese food option.
* The staff is really nice! After I placed my order and sat at a table to wait for my food, the owner stopped by to make sure I had been waited on. Also during my ~10 minute wait, a couple regulars came in and the owner made friendly conversation with them. The restaurant seems to have a good ‘small town’ atmosphere.
* The interior is clean and well-​kept. It’s not extravagantly decorated, but it does appear to be a safe/​sanitized environment.
* The service is fast. You can get in and out of here in less than 30 minutes if you were really pressed for time.
CONS:
* They only accept cash and checks.
* The couple times I’ve been here, the meat in the chicken dishes (Sesame Chicken, Sweet-​n-​Sour Chicken, etc.) don’t have a lot of good meat. It’s mostly thin, pathetic strips of chicken. Not exactly appetizing.
* I think some of the meals are a bit over-​priced for what you get.
* I never finish my meals. It’s more than I can eat and more than I want to eat. Usually it’s nice to have leftovers… but leftover Chinese food never tastes well IMO.
While Webster Garden isn’t my favorite place, I could still see myself giving them another chance in the future when I have another Chinese food craving.

Not sure how I didn’t find out about this place sooner. The fried lemongrass tofu bun was soooo yummy. I can’t wait to go back and try other tofu dishes. My lunch partner had the spring rolls and the stir-​fry shrimp bun and loved both. Great prices and lots of options for both Vietnamese and Chinese. I was happy with the service as well — friendly, told me about other dishes I might enjoy, gave me a little history about the place. We went for lunch and there were several people that appeared to be regulars. The food and service were a 5 but the décor was a 3 so overall I give it a 4. Heads up it is cash only. It has one big table for 6 and the rest are 2 – 4 person tables. There is a small outdoor eating area as well.

First time eating here with the BF, never again! I ordered ham fried rice. They don’t sell ham fried rice, had to order beef fried rice which was horrible. Their fried rice has no flavor, the beef was not good. Do not go there if you’re looking for a fried rice fix, try somewhere else. If a place can’t make something as simple as fried rice, then there is no way I’m trying something more complex on the menu.

I love their crab Rangoon and spring rolls. They are just better than other places. I split an order of both with my dining companion and went with the v6 noodle dish. It was all soooo good! The people who work there are always very nice and the place is always clean. It was a nice day out so we ate at the nearby pavilion. That alone is am added benefit to eating here! The people watching is great here! All in all a pleasant and very enjoyable lunch! A nice break in the middle of the day. I highly recommend!

Please trust me when I tell you to try the Vietnamese menu. My Vietnamese mother-​in-​law is the most amazing cook and has ruined me when it comes to Vietnamese food. All of the typical Vietnamese favorites in St. Louis don’t hold a candle to her food. But when I want food that is as good as her’s, I come to Webster Garden! I’m not a fan of the Chinese menu and never eat from it, so I can’t speak to that.
The Phở here is as authentic as it gets. If you don’t like it, then I’m sorry to say that you are probably used to a version that is overpowered with something (usually star anise). Their Phở is very well-​balanced in flavor.
If you’ve tried it before and only had the Chinese, please go back and try the Vietnamese! I hope word gets out on these offerings.
The owners are wonderful people and make you feel right at home.

Had the boiled potstickers last night. Incredibly fresh. Even the dough! Delish! Not tooo salty! Even the dipping sauce too!
