Delicious mac and cheese! I ordered the traditional mac and cheese and it was amazing. Super friendly staff, practically no wait time, and great price. Highly recommend!

My boyfriend may as well be five years old, because whenever he sees this food truck his brain turns off and he whines until he gets his Mac and cheese fix, but every time it doesn’t quite hit the spot. He’s thinking of creamy Kraft Mac and cheese, but with real cheese plus extras like diced jalapeños, bacon and sausage. It’s not that kind of Mac and cheese. The cheese sauce is very thin and it’s just enough to cover the noodles, not all over cheesy goodness. The food here isn’t bad, I would get it if other trucks had way longer lines, but truly I don’t prefer it. I just expect a little more for my money.

RA MacSammy’s is the real deal. The ranks of the Food Truck army are swelling in the Twin Cities, and unfortunately, the results are not always stellar. That’s why I love trucks like this one –they get it right. They offer macaroni and cheese(plain, build-your-own, and a daily special), plus some assortment of brats, hot dogs, and sandwiches(varies). The macaroni is quite good — perfectly cooked noodles in a bechamel-based cheese sauce. And the build-your-own options are pretty staggering. There’s a list of what must be around 20 options, ranging from the ordinary(hot dogs, broccoli) to the unusual(spam, blue cheese). Lots of vegetarian options, which is nice. Topped with crunchy toasty breadcrumbs –yum! Service is fast and friendly. The owner and line cook are both chatty and funny. On my first visit, I was surprised to be offered a free cookie by the owner. Turns out, he had gotten distracted by the line, forgotten to put my order in, noticed I was standing around, put my order in, and gave me the cookie –all before I had a chance to wonder what the holdup was… or if there even was a holdup. Even then, I was still waiting probably less than 10 minutes. That’s good service. Also, as an update to Adam W.‘s review(and srsly, regarding the name? sounds like a personal problem to me…) they DO accept credit cards, thanks to one of those smartphone attachments. If you see the yellow truck, give it a try!

I’ll say right out that I hate when a sandwich is referred to as a «sammy» or a «sammich.» Ugh. Cutsey-pie baby talk HATE. Sorry. This bright yellow food truck offers an extensive collection of mac and cheese options for your alfresco dining pleasure. You can mix and match from a wide variety of ingredients, or choose a preselected special combo. We chose bacon and Brussels sprouts. The former was plentiful and crispy(bacon in every bite!) and the latter were pan seared and perfectly al dente. Real cheese, nicely firm mac and a sprinkling of breadcrumbs rounded out the plate. This was a good and tasty lunch on the cheap – a«mini» size serving can easily feed one person. Also on offer were brats and sandwiches(looked good but untasted) and canned beverages. Service was friendly and fast. Bring cash – cards not accepted as of this writing.

Man vs Truck This was my first real experience with food truck and it was a good one. He is out of Rosemount and parks right next to my business. I set up a «feeding» for my employees before he went out on his rounds, spread Mac daddy joy throughout St Paul and burbs. They can’t get a license in Minneapolis because I think you need a dinning establishment in Minneapolis to get a license in Minneapolis. He has a weekly rotating menu with a few different sandwiches and a few different mac and cheese dishes. This week he had a Caprese Mac with Balsamic-marinated tomatoes, basil and fresh mozzarella. This dish looked splendid and I did get great reports for the taste. They also have a make-your-own option also. I got the full make-your-own portion(mini portion available) with bacon and tomato with bread crumbs sprinkled on top and it was Mac and cheese bliss. The mac was perfectly al dente and the cheese portion made it very flavorful but not too cheesy. I think the mini portion might have been enough for me as I couldn’t eat the entire portion. Keep an eye out for this guy, he does Rice Park and different businesses through the St Paul city. Ride MacSammy, Ride!
