Where was my cheap drinks? $ 30 for 2 wild turkeys on the rocks? It was rung up as 4 drinks and I was told that on the rocks is double after the fact. I guess I was charged the under aged drinking rate but I’m definitely to old to be underage drinking. Never again with a tab here. Cash up front only.

The drinks are nothing special but the service was really good. You can’t beat the location. The prices were good. I’ll probably be back.

Well great location, but nothing else was very good, Extremely weak Margherita & Pina Colada, literally no alcohol. Tables outside are of poor quality & some seem on their last legs. Bar area was very crowded & seemed kinda run down, I think if you go in a good size group & drink buckets of beer this is probably a fun place to hang out.

We were at the beach and decided to check out this bar i had bookmarked a few weeks back. First thing i noticed coming in were pool tables to my right, and ahead to my left i saw a girl upside down. What the heck is she doing… She was drinking a shot upside down!(If you are game, you can also climb up and drink a complimentary shot upside down). The bar top was a really unexpected touch… where there is water running through it with rubber duckies floating around. Also unexpected were the good drink and beer prices. $ 3 Coronas… i’m in ! I was also game for playing some pool(which was a blast… i had to show off my skills… or lack thereof) and then came back to the bar to socialize with fellow patrons and chat up with the friendly bikini clad bartender. I love the fact that it is right next to the beach, it has a great view, good music, and lively atmosphere. I loved this place and can’t wait to return.

In town for a wedding and was looking for a cheap drink… this is a little beach bar with a lot of different activities(kind of like an adult arcade). There was also cornhole and volleyball on the beach. Bartenders were in bikinis but they looked good in them, so good for them! There was a little moat in the bar that I thought was cool. They delivered on the cheap drinks and it’s right on the beach. A couple of bachelorette perked came in with a wedding party. The one thing that was kind of funny was the vending machines in the back that had microwave cheeseburgers and pasta and even salads. We didn’t get any, but it was definitely a strange addition. We didn’t get any food so can’t review that, but given the vending machine situation, we decided not to try it.

Love this place! I was visiting friends in St. Pete for the weekend and staying on St. Pete Beach, so it was very close to the hotel. I stopped by myself the first night and had a few drinks and we all went back for Sunday afternoon drinks a couple days later. Very friendly bartenders, lots of great seating and we even played a game of air hockey! Will definitely be back on my next visit to St. Pete!

Stopped into Undertow after hearing some good things about it. Ive been in twice now and have enjoyed both visits. Yes… The bartenders are in bikinis. Its a beach bar so I find the reviews complaining about that pretty funny! Lol. Now to the actual bar. Great location and very roomy. Tons of tvs to watch sporting events all over. The atmosphere is a lot of fun! They play a nice mix of music so it doesnt just cater to one type of person. They also have pretty damn descent drink prices considering the beach front location and popularity of the bar. I believe 3 dollar 16 oz cans was one of them. I havent ate here so I cant comment on the food. Overall a super friendly staff and a really fun beach atmosphere. See you again soon Undertow!

After living in St. Pete for about a month now, we finally made it to the Undertow after many recommendations. We love going to the other beach bars like Jimmy B’s, Caddy’s and Kai Tiki, so we figured we should give this place a try. When you first pull up, you think this place is a little shack — but it’s actually huge! The set-up is pretty cool and has almost everything you would want out of a beach bar. There’s a main bar that is set under a hut-like building that features a cool river trough on the bar. Then they have a whole area with groupings of large aardvark chairs to sit back and relax with a group of people. Off to the side they have another bar area along with an area for games such as air hockey, pool, darts and some vending machines if you have the munchies. Then of course they have a nice beach area if you want to play corn hole or volleyball or watch the beautiful sunsets! The drink prices are pretty good too. They usually have tall boys of beer for $ 3, which is far better than most beach bars that charge $ 5 for small draught beer. I’ve read other reviews on here and I find it funny that people knock this bar because the bartenders wear bikinis. Really? It’s a beach bar! I guess if you’re not comfortable with women in bikinis, maybe you shouldn’t go to the beach. So if that doesn’t bother you I highly suggest checking this place out. It’s a nice beach bar that’s cheap and not touristy compared to some of the other bars!

When did this place become a strip club? Totally ridiculous bartender clothes. Was totally uncomfortable and left. Also, they used to have a good beach restaurant but it’s no longer. Probably won’t be coming back unless I’m looking to pick up some drooling old men and look at fake breasts. They get two stars because honestly, great location on the beach. Sadly, it’s gross so I just can’t… (Note: owner had a «Let’s Keep Christ in Christmas» bumper sticker which seemed very confusing to me based on the restaurant décor and uniforms. I’m not a fan of religious posturing or religion being preached in general, especially when it’s so bizarrely and brazenly hypocritical)

Excellent vibe for a chill beach bar. It’s less douchey than some of the other bars in the area. There aren’t a lot of college kids on the beach either. The only issue that I had was the Lowes beach staff. The lowes worker made me remove my umbrella in his«owned area» of the beach. I explained that this is a federal beach, but if he had any information to show that he owned this portion, I would move my umbrella away from my friends that purchased a blue umbrella. It was just too idiotic for me to deal with on a relaxing beach day.

I would normally rate this place a 4, however the disrespect the female bar tender was to my friend was was unbelievable! My friend’s drink was very tart and it wasn’t a combination of juices as she stated it was tart juice and when my friend made her aware of it her response was«that’s what you ordered» she proceeds to continue on as if nothing mattered. When my friend asked her do you expect me to drink this her response was«just because you Dont like what you ordered doesn’t mean you get a free drink»… Wow! Nobody’s asking for a FREE drink. 1 slip was taken, it was stirred and another drink was taken and THATISIT. NOTHINGMORENOTHINGLESS! My friend asked to speak to the manager and she said its the man who is also a bartender, which is untrue as he later informed us. Needless to say later on she was observed speaking to the manager and switched bars. We hold nothing against undertow and will be back but NEVER use the rude bartender and I wish I had her name because she should be spoken to about her nasty attitude and rudeness… Written by: Carmen

Fun place for a drink right on the beach. Great atmosphere. My only complaint is that there is no kitchen(but food can be delivered from nearby restaurants).

On a vacation to Tampa we took a trip to St Pete’s beach and found ourselves at Undertow for some of the Rangers/Bolts hockey playoff game. Drinks are nicely priced around $ 3 and they have other posters etc promoting special beers and events. The crowd was take ‘em or leave ‘em and i enjoyed there was a Ranger crowd in the mix! Sat in the big chairs off the barside and were able to get out of the heat, catch the game, grab a beer all seamlessly When i find myself in St Pete’s beach again, i’ll be sure to swing by Undertow

I’ve only been once so take that into account. It was dead on a Friday afternoon in April. Bunch of old dudes sitting around. The parking lot was full so we had to park a quarter mile away in the public lot. Service was ok… one tired bartender. She was wearing a bikini top and shorts. Drinks were a bit expensive for such a quiet spot. $ 6-$ 8. The beach was nice, pretty clean and soft sand. I wouldn’t go back if it was the same scene.

The only reason I’m giving this place a 2 star instead of a 1 star is because the 1 drink I had there was actually pretty good(although it was in a small plastic cup with lots of ice which was about 4 sips.) Terrible service and a trashy bar. The bartenders wear bikinis that are practically thongs and posters of the same on the walls. I get it, it’s by the beach and some bartenders will do anything to make tips but this place is too much. I much prefer Bongos where the bartenders are a little more classy and I don’t feel like I’m at a strip club. Won’t be coming back.

Top notch beach bar with a cool bar top that water runs through, bartenders in bikinis, beach volleyball, cornhole, pool, air hockey, ring toss, good wings, and good drink specials! Service was quick and very cordial. The menu has been reduced to wings and pizza so if you are in the mood for anything else, you can order to go from the restaurant 2 doors down. This is a great place to watch the sunset! Limited Parking of around 20 spots is available onsite but it fills up quick on the weekend days. There is $ 10 parking across the street or public beach parking 4 hotels down. They don’t have a live band. If you’re looking for that, youre better off at Toasted Monkey, Jimmy B’s, or Pci. This is kind of a chill Beach Bar. They do have TVs though to watch the game, $ 1 Foosball, $ 1 air hockey, and $ 1 pool tables in the back. $ 3 coronas and Miller lights all summer long! :) You can race dollar bills or plastic knives down the bar top ravine lol. They’re always doing cool events like fishing for cans, can jam, and beach volleyball tournaments. They even filmed an episode of party down south here! Faster service than PCI and better drink specials!

Undertow is a no-frills beach bar towards the south end of St Pete Beach’s hotel row. It is the perfect place to start or end a pub crawl between it and PCI Bar(a 1.5 mile haul of drinking fun). An earlier review of mine complained about the turnover amongst staff, but they seem to have gotten that under control. The ones that have been around a bit that are super nice are Kat(only occasionally now as she has a job elsewhere), Amanda, Nikki, «Cheeks» and Paul(great new addition). In any case, drinks are typically cheap and strong. They used to have great wings but killed the food options. Fortunately, Smiley’s Snack Shack, three doors down and same owner, will deliver for no charge to the restaurant, as will Hungry Howies pizza, so you have two great options for hanging out at Undertow and still getting food. They recently(summer 2015) added a bbq type stand, but I haven’t tried it yet. Sundays they will have all the games on in the main bar if you’re a fantasy football junkie. They have a large projection screen outside too for night games. They have Touch Tunes in the smaller bar and Golden Tee, $ 1 pool, $ 1 foosball and a few video games in the main bar. I have never seen live music here, so if that’s your thing, probably better to look at Toasted Monkey or Jimmy B’s. Parking is not the location’s strong suit, there are maybe 20 spots, so Friday to Sunday afternoon there is typically no parking. There’s a pay lot across the street(normally $ 10, $ 20 on holidays/spring break) and the St Pete Beach public lot is not too far of a walk. You can NOT bring coolers onto the property; they’ll kick you out.

Free WiFi if you join the Lowes Hotel network. It’s easy to reach from here. Service is fantastic! Rachael is an awesome bartender. She’s fast, friendly and hot. I needed some sunscreen and she let me borrow her personal stash. Big props for that. My tip to her just doubled. They participate in the HIlton Honors dining program, which is how I found them. That’s a big plus for me since I earn hotel points by spending money here and I never would have known this awesome bar was here without the HHonors Reward app. Bravo Undertow for doing that! They are oceanfront and you can drink on the beach with your toes in the sand listening to good music and watching hot women playing beach volleyball! The only thing that could be better is the parking. I had to drive down to the public beach access and pay to park, then walk down here. That’s the only reason I didn’t give this place 5 stars. The sand is white as the driven snow and the beach is in great shape here(unlike some other beachfront bars on St Pete Beach). They keep the bathrooms clean, the booze cold, the beach perfectly manicured and the music hopping. Overall it doesn’t get much better than this!
