Shopping for bicycle for my adolescent old son. Patrick, who I believe is the department manager for bicycles, was very helpful. Chatty, and helpful. Very willing to help in purchase selection, and indicated a strong willingness to maintain good support afterwards(yeah, I know, easy to say and its all about the sale … though, he did note that they do not receive a commission). We didn’t buy there, because my son didn’t like the selection. Otherwise, I’d recommend checking this place out if shopping for a reasonably priced bike.

Sports Authority is fine — just fine. They have a nice selection of slightly overpriced sporting goods, and their staff is friendly. The people there are knowledgeable about where things are in their store, but not that knowledgeable about sports or sporting goods in general. My purchases there include a putter(a gift), a pedometer, and some Rams gear. I felt as if I did overpay for all of it, but the store is close to home so that’s a plus. It’s also never crowded — there are hardly ever any people there. All in all, if you need something quick, you don’ t mind paying extra for it, and you know exactly what you want — then this is a good place to go. If you need help on what to choose, if you’re on a budget, and you don’t mind shopping around — you’re better off elsewhere.

This place is packed with pretty much everything you would need to be active and stay fit. I went in looking for some specific shoes but they are pretty hard to find. I was not surprised when they didn’t carry them. I was impressed with the amount of selection they had in the Shoe department though. I will be going back sometime to check out the bike stuff.
