Unfortunately, while it is a beautiful location, I’ve had several issues with being incorrectly over billed for lessons and my horse was shorted feed as well. When we seem to get one issue resolved another occurs and the change in staff is incessant. The burden of proof is on the consumer for correction and once provided is met with a condescending attitude from management. Unfortunate indeed. While a guest rider or on trail will be nice, boarding a horse here is challenging, especially considering the expense.

My husband, son and I went on the horseback ride on the beach out of Rainbow Stables on Sea Island, all part of Stables at Frederica. One of the best vacation adventures ever. Our son is on the spectrum and the guides were exceptional! Our guides were Forest and Hayley! Hayley was at the end right near Luke and she was patient and encouraging. He was riding like a champ by the end. This ride takes you through the marsh and for a long walk on the beach. Well worth every penny!

The web page for the Stables at Frederica beach ride states: «Our sevices(sic) are directed to people who are interested in horseback riding on St. Simons Island» AND«Beach Rides have been offered on the beach here for years and its a rare and exhilarating experience.» Unfortunately, that was not my experience at all. While Sea Island is a lovely setting, you are only allowed to walk your horse on the beach, turning what could be a great experience into just a trail ride. I understand safety concerns for the horses, but advertise the event for what it is — a pony ride that doesn’t allow you to do anything but control the direction of where your horse goes… and as with most trail rides, that isn’t always the case either. If you’re interested in walking your horse along the beach, then this is for you. If you’re NOT interested in paying over $ 100 for a pony ride, then The Stables at Frederica are not for you.
