Very good Latin-inspired restaurant in the busy restaurant area in Stamford(Columbus Park). Excellent cocktails. Guacamole with the chips was an excellent starter, and the house-made tortilla chips were hard to leave alone. We had a number of dishes, from steak to chicken to burger, and everything was very flavorful and delicious, with the nice rustic presentation on the wooden carving boards. Definitely recommended.

I have been to this place twice before, the first time was very good ! The second time okay. Last night however was bad, the grilled calimari was not fresh it had a nasty fishy taste . Being that they have a limited menu would make you want to believe that the get the food fresh on a daily basis. Gordon Ramsey would have been mad as hell. This was a kitchen nightmare !!!

Lets just get to the point … GBGASTROPUB… The food is just not what we expected.Paella. Where’s the saffron… where’s the Bomba Rice… where’s the flavor … This is the worse paella I have ever had. Sorry Don’t want to insult anyone, But do it right or go home… I know it’s about socializing And the Bar Scene. Then open a fabulous Bar… don’t make mediocre food… Just not good… Eggplant. Acid tomato sauce. Cook the sauce much longer, love what you do…

Restaurant week 2014. Pork Arepa was very good. It was actually amazingly tasty. Our steak was decent and the churro was tasty for dessert. Guacamole was OK. Nothing special. Salsa came in a squirt bottle as a trendy gimmick. Of course, tomato chunks clog it and salsa squirts all over us when we squirt the bottle. Our two cocktails were not great. The margarita on the rocks was missing any sweetener. I don’t mean it had too little sweetener, I mean zero. Not even a drop of agave or sprinkle of sugar. It was very bad. I drank it fast to get it over with and then sipped water. My friend had a strawberry mojito and was not impressed. They may want to revamp the drink recipes. Our waiter was very polite and genuine. He made it a pleasant experience,

I’m not at all pleased with my experience here. I have given the restaurant one star — the only star — solely earned because the waitstaff was very patient when the rest of my party was 15 minutes late for our reservation. The four of us came for restaurant week, and were very pleased to try a new place that offered three courses for $ 20. However, 3 out of the 4 started with the arepas which were okay at best. Their flavor was tasty, but they were sodden with oil and inconsistently cooked. Next, my 3 guests ordered the churrasco with chimichurri sauce. Again, flavor was great, but definitely lacking in texture. While I expected a melt-in-your-mouth experience like I know this dish can be, the meat was tough. I, however, got the burger — which was actually quite delicious and juicy. The size of the burger was colossal, and sadly, I wasn’t able to finish it because I was too full from the grease laiden arepas and tortilla chips I had munched earlier. This, though, turned out to benefit me as it only took about two hours from leaving the restaurant to realize I had food poisoning. I would like to congratulate the restaurant on their chic and simplistic décor which lent itself to a romantic ambiance. However, the ambiance wasn’t quite romantic enough to make me feel wooed by the kitchen staff as I walked by them to hear«hey baby». All in all, the restaurant has potential, but has some serious training to do in food safety and sexual harassment.

The most amazing place! Atmosphere was great, drinks were very good and service was very attentive! The bartender was really nice, he knows the food well and gave a lot of recommendations on what to drink and eat. The food was fantastic, very flavorful and perfectly prepared. We’ll be definitely coming back!

My first time here thanks to Stamford Restaurant Week 2014. It only opened this summer, so I was hesitant seeing that no reviews were posted and very little was said about the place. I took my chances because you can’t go wrong with three courses for $ 20. That said here is why I give Azuca 4 stars overall: FOOD — I has three courses since it came with the restaurant week deal. I started with an arepa with pork belly. It was delicious with generous portions. For my entrée, I had the churrasco cooked medium rare. It was made how I wanted it and the chimichurri sauce was a great and subtle addition to the meat. Lastly, I had churros for dessert. It was good, but it was slightly over-fried. I personally like my churros soft. DRINKS — I had a mango margarita, which was simply made with lime, mango and tequila. It was good, but not the best. It was a bit too sweet for my liking and perhaps could have used a bit more tequila for a better balance. Again, this is subjective. I would like to see more mixed drink options pop up on their menu. They could also serve beers on draft to diversify their drink menu. SERVICE — We made reservations and had to push it back 20 minutes because of traffic. They easily accommodated us and sat my party of 4 down immediately. We ordered drinks and food and had no issues. They refilled our carafe of water and provided free chips for the table. All in all, the waiters were on point. AMBIENCE — I like the simplicity of the design and seating arrangement. Since it’s summer, we were able to sit outdoors in the front patio. Ample seating inside as well as a bar area. Not too busy when I went, but the West Park Place area of downtown Stamford was bustling with people, bars and restaurants. Verdict: It’s a new place and I see the potential for Azuca to become amazing. Four stars is high in my book and I definitely would come back or recommend this place to others.
