Stanwood Grill

Would have given better review, but for this location — lower rent — not going to pay up charges for cocktails.
Food was good and prepared to order. Prime Rib good –nice herbed crust and end cut available. Mashed Potatoes were Pureed –not mashed — so way too soupy. Tasted good, but consistency not desirable. Top sirloin was good — cooked correctly. The asparagus was very tasty — nicely done –not over cooked or under cooked — good quality not woody. VERY good asparagus. The sourdough bread was tasty –nice sour piqué to it’s flavor. All else was good: iced tea, coffee and Crème Brule dessert was very traditional and delicious. The real nail in the coffin was the Up charge for my hubby’s martini’s. We’re accustomed to paying $ 9 for a premium liquor martini (he likes Tanqueray). HOWEVER, they charge $ 6 for a Martini PLUS $ 7 for the Tanqueray, so this upscale martini was $ 13. He ordered two and didn’t realize the bill for his martinis was going to be $ 26 for two drinks!!! With a policy like this, we won’t be going back. It was good, but not exceptional. Our server did a nice job and was apologetic about the charge on the martinis but said it was their NEW pricing policy on these drinks, so nothing she could do about it. So sad that some restaurant owners think that the way to make more profits is overcharge –not just do a good job and bring in more customers. Volume is the key to profitability as is securing return customers, but you just lost us on our first try.

1^st review 11÷25÷15 2 star rating. I added an extra star because of how the Manager handled this debacle of an evening out to a «high end» restaurant. We waited for 1 ½ hours for our food. In the mean time we had all finished 2 drinks. Then waited with empty glasses for another half hour. Mentioned something to the bus boy as our waitress was obviously slammed but also somewhat disorganized which didn’t help the situation. We received our plates a few minutes after talking to the bus boy. The waitress was very flustered & appeared irritated whether at us or the «Chef», hard telling. My Medium Rare steak arrived as an over done (basically burnt) piece of meat on top of soggy brussels sprouts. My friends anticipated med pork loins (specifically requested not brown but slightly pink) they were over cooked, the potatoes & brussels sprouts were cold. My husband had the best plate in the bunch with Salmon Tacos. Presentation was sloppy but edible. We opted to leave rather than wait for «fresh plates». We headed for Jimmy’s where they’re are consistent.
In all my years eating out, I have never experienced anything this bad. I half expected Chef Ramsey to walk in for an episode of Kitchen Nightmares. However, to the managers credit, we did not have to pay for anything & he gave us a gift certificate to allow them another chance. As business owners the only thing we were impressed with his professionalism. Will we go back? Stay tuned.
2^nd review 2÷12÷16 — we decided to use the gift coupon provided by the Manager of Stanwood Grill. And I am happy to report that they have been redeemed! Service was spot on. Our meals (mine was Sirloin Steak, hubby’s was the special; a halibut salad with spicy dressing) were prepared just right. We enjoyed a very relaxing, yummy dinner. Happy ending reviews feel so much better than bad reviews. So we went from 2 to 4 stars.

The risotto was awesome! Met friends here for dinner and didn’t feel rushed. It was quiet and we all enjoyed our meals.

Excellent menu, service, and ambience! Delicious salmon tacos and fish and chips! We’re new to the area and will definitely be regulars here! Looking forward to enjoying their patio this summer!

Waited 5 minutes to be seated on New Years’s Eve at about 7:30. Busboy walked past us twice as did a waitress. No acknowledgement whatsoever. Manager saw us from the bar area. Unfortunately we were not too surprised as we have been here many times through the years. We left and drove to Boston’s where we received prompt and courteous service.

We spontaneously went to dinner here for our 20^th anniversary. Pleasantly surprised. We have lived in stanwood for 9 years and never have gone in. We will go back. Friendly service, clean atmosphere. Delious steaks, nice small wine list and we were happy to hear about ½ price wine night ;).
The service suggested a delicious cocktail, and I really like the cocktail lists and menus are locally supported ingredients. The bread from next store from Y’s bakery is delicious!

My bf took me here for the first time. We ordered the pot stickers, Caesar salad and rib eye steak. The food was very tasty and seasoned very well. They mixed their cocktail drinks pretty strong. Overall I had a great experience here. The server provided excellent service. Would recommend this place if your in the area.

Second time eating here about a week ago, after moving to the area late last year. Really good food and great service, very attentive staff. We had a friend visiting us from NYC who has pretty high standards in eating out, and he was impressed as well. We tried two specials and one menu item, both were very well prepared with decent portions. The Standwood Grill could hold its own anywhere, in downtown Stanwood it’s the best «fancy» dinner place in town.
I have to say I’m surprised at some of the comments though, especially the ones that start with «considering the prices they charge…» I mean, our three meals were around $ 14 – 15 each plus an appetizer. Seriously, do you people get out much? These are like Red Robin or Boston’s prices, and considering the quality and atmosphere plus the location this is a deal! I’m not sure how it could get any better.

The grill is really the only restaurant in Stanwood that doesn’t serve circus food, mexican food or asian food.
Stanwood is the home of pizza, dive bars and fast food so we were pleased with the service, ambiance, drinks, wine and food.
We will go back.
We were also pleased that it wasn’t full of youth baseball teams, drunks screaming and yelling at some random game on a tv, rednecks and people that think they can take their one year olds anywhere.

I brought my family here about six months ago– food was mediocre at best, nothing special for what I paid. The part that really got me was how unfriendly the staff was. At the time my daughter was 1 and the waitress seemed disgusted that we would even bring a child into her «thought to be» upscale restaurant. NOT family friendly in my experience. Wont be back anytime soon.

Good food, small menu — not a bad combo, less choices. Quiet with good background music — usually jazz or blues. Outdoor dining if the weather pemits.

I hate to write bad reviews for local restaurants because I want them all to do well so that we local folks have some choices. But dinner at the Stanwood Grill was not a good experience. My wife and I thought we would try the place out since we’re relatively new to the area. After being seated, the server took our drink order and brought our drinks relatively quickly. But after that, we didn’t see her again. After finishing our drinks completely, we still had not seen our server. And there appeared to be only one guy in the kitchen cooking. The menu was a bit pricey thus we expected a higher level of service for food at that price point. When it appeared the server wasn’t coming back to take our food order, we decided to leave and go elsewhere. Sadly enough, we will not be going back.

Like this place a lot. Upscale bar and grill atmosphere, warm woods, really nice staff, excellent beer and good wine selection. Straightforward menu with something for everyone. Excellent salmon and prime rib. Not cheap, but decent value.

very overpriced for what you get. There are better places in town.

We had steak & salmon for dinner. Both were good, so was the service.
