First and foremost I was utterly impressed when a family came in who needed Sign language translation and not only the server was able to spell out words at least but the sous chef came out and had a full conversation to accommodate what they needed. I was skeptical to come based on bad reviews but it was an 8 min walk from our condo. Yes it’s in a strip mall looking area but it’s the Tahoe style really. To correct everyone’s slow service comments: yes it is slow but it is accustomed to a true 4 course meal. I had the fennel soup which was creamy and light but flavorful followed by the venison and it was just right, not over cooked, not bland but not over powering. The dessert was phenomenal and all of the menu is based on seasonal farmers market fresh or local farmed meat. My biggest TIP would be to order the soufflé in advance so it can be baked from scratch during your dinner course. My bf had the onion tart which came with a small salad in the center, followed by the lamb entreé which was a plate full and very flavorful, also with vegetables and a salad. Nothing was over done or over powering or bland. NONEOFTHEBADREVIEWSWERETRUE. We had sparkling water and bread provided as well when we first got there followed by tartar pâté which was absolutely amazing flavor for a small spoon full. The waiter was friendly, and very accommodating. I have 12 food allergies, and while he was surprised he took every detail into account. Luckily I knew pretty well from the menu what I could do but the chef took it even further and made sure to make me a special desert I could have of sorbet and meringue win fresh berries. For the price, the food was probably more 4⁄5 but the service gives the extra star. It was a truly extraordinary date night. Nothing was rushed but everything moved continuously as we were ready. It did take about 2 hrs for 4 courses, and without alcoholic drinks, but 1 reg drink, 2 appetizers, 2 entreés and 2 desserts it was $ 125 plus tax and tip. If expectations are comparable to 5star Resturaunts from big cities it’s maybe not the same but easily a 5 star for Tahoe. I’d certainly bring friends and family back.

Amazing place in Lake Tahoe. My Great Uncle was one of the Le Chambord Head Chefs in NYC. Our dinner brought back memories of meals at his house as a child. The escargot would be the one plate I would not highly recommend as I am sure there is no fresh supplier here, but everything else was exceptional. This restaurant is a little treasure in our area. If you are looking to splurge on a special night out, I highly, highly recommend this restaurant.

Recently came here for a birthday dinner & will return. The minimalistic front of this restaurant is deceptive, so don’t let that deter you. Service was terrific and timely. Our waiter, Todd, was attentive, knowledgeable, detailed in description of their menu. Each plate was prepared articulately(duck confit, pork tenderloin). The foie gras & escargot puff pastry starters were very flavorable & comparable to our past meals in France. We shared a Grand Marnier soufflé that was perfectly whipped, baked, wrapped in a custard of pillowy goodness.

Service was VERY slow. Food is disappointing and very pricey for the quality. We didn’t order any wine because we weren’t in the mood, and the waiter kept pressurizing us to order alcohol, which sucked. I had the fresh pasta with olive oil, which was okay, but it was rather bland. Did the chef forgot salt and pepper? The endive and cress salad was a bad pairing. Very bitter. Who wants to eat a bitter salad? My favorite dish was probably the sweetbread en croute. Can’t go wrong with sauteed mushrooms. Definitely would not return again.

Wow !!! A great secret hidden at Lake Tahoe… Mirabelle French Cuisine… Our meal started with a great wine list, the appetizer was Frog Legs Provencal really well flavored with fresh herbs, capers, olives and sun dried tomatoes(spot on Chef) followed by a Cassoulet with Duck Confit, Duck Sausage and bacon. Over the top with rich warm comfort flavored. For the desert course the Chocolate Mousse and cordial of fine Port finishes the meal to absolute perfection. The service is so attentive to all our needs with great recommendations to complement our selections. The ambience is typically French Alsation warm, home like comfort. A great combination that must be experienced when at Beautiful Lake Tahoe.

OK. We finally ate at Mirabelle after being sold by Chef Camille – a wonderful chef with five star food. The new owner and chef said he was Chef Camille’s sous chef for some time but there was no comparison. So here is our take: 1. Ambiance – Same as the«old» Mirabelle – nice French Bistro atmosphere – clean and simple. 2. Service-The new servers are very friendly and try to be helpful but they do not have much knowledge about the food they serve and so not helpful in making selections Many of the dishes were named the same as the«old» Mirabelle but the preparation and presentation far different. Food came a little slowly but that is a function of fresh made food as was with the old Mirabelle and we are in no hurry when we eat at a fine restaurant. 3. Wine – The wine menu is surprising limited and most of the wines come from Central California – . they have a preference for J Lohr wines as that winery dominates the list. For those wanting a good bottle of wine – bring your own and pay the $ 20 corkage. In a word, unexceptional wines marked up three times retail. Fortunately, I brought a Château Clerc Milon, 2003,(retail $ 60) from my collection and paid the $ 20 corkage as it was far superior to any wine on the list-even the couple for $ 200 and $ 250. When I remarked to the server that they needed to enhance the French wines, he did say that they were trying to work with an importer. 4. Food – This is what our three stars was based on. We both started with the foie gras which was nice and similar to the«old» Mirabelle. I ordered the venison and my wife the rack of lamb. The venison was tough(they said from Texas) but the lamb was typical tender farm raised New Zealand which we consider one of the best. The problem was that both meats were covered in a similar, very spicy brown sauce. Sorry, spicy sauce for venison or lamb just does not work and over powers the flavor of the meat. The presentation – well there was not any – just a lots of brown rice and a little cauliflower on the plate with the meat on the side. Really a major disappointment. After the meat, we passed on dessert but they do give you a little home made sorbet to cleanse the pallet which was the best thing served. The bill for the two appetizers and two meat mains plus $ 20 corkage was $ 142. Add the $ 30 tip because the servers were really nice, and it came to $ 172. For $ 172 for two without wine, I would expect exceptional food and that was far from the case. As a local, I really hope that the restaurant improves – especially with the wine menu and food preparation. There are less than a handful of fine restaurants in So Lake Tahoe and unfortunately, Mirabelle’s has fallen far out of that group. We will not be back until some of our friends eat here and find that they have greatly improved. A real shame because everyone there is really exceptionaly nice.

2 stars for many reasons. No espresso because their machine has been broken for a long time. Hmm maybe get it fixed or replace it??? My $ 12 dollar glass of red wine came out of a cooler. Very chilled. When I asked about it. He said oh ya we chill our wine before service. Just let it warm up on the table. It was like ice wine. Its not going to get to room before I eat dinner. Table bread was the MOST flavorless bread I have EVER had. Ive been to plenty of fine dining to compare. Appetizer of escargot was plentiful but average in flavor. Served in a ramekin. Never seen that before. Entrée of pheasant was over cooked and dry. Some bites had seasoning, most did not. Gravy was refined and well balanced. Mash was flavorful and hearty. After I received the correct dessert, it was terrible. The hardest profiterole was the hardest puff Ive ever seen. Inedible. On top of all of this they bring a credit card terminal to your table. That was fun. $ 200 bucks. Will not return.

A small, tucked away treasure. Simple French bistro fare, perfectly executed. We tried the lentil soup, winter salad, Alsatian onion tart, venison, and Grand Marnier soufflé. All wonderful and Todd’s service was excellent. The wine list, a combination of French and Californian, was simple, but well chosen. Do not miss this restaurant!

French and European inspired cuisine, the food is incredible. We ask to taste what’s the chef wanted to do in a 3 courses dinner. Everything was tasty and delicate. Simple, traditional and creative. Everything is fresh and made in house. A rare quality for restaurants nowadays. I really recommend you to try Mirabelle and order the Soufflé(in advance when you arrived so you get it for dessert). Enjoy the real taste of passionate food!

This will be a strange review but I have to write it. Kenneth from Mirabella was so helpful to me in our plans to vacation to Tahoe! They went out of their way to try to get us a reservation on Christmas night but when they couldn’t, we made reservations for Sunday. They even made suggestions for other restaurants and were very communicative and personal. I couldn’t wait to go. On Sunday when we were to go, I ended up with laryngitis and told I couldn’t have alcohol, caffeine, or creams because I have to host a national show on Tuesday and I will need my voice. When I was at the doctors office I told them that meant that I would probably need to cancel this res that I had been looking so forward to. He and his assistant both told me it is the best French restaurant they have ever enjoyed! They were polite and understanding when I called to cancel. Can’t wait till we are back and I will make the restaurant res the same day I make the condo res! Apparently, it is amazing! Anyplace that will pay that sort of personal attention deserves five stars!

I haven been here for dinner in years, but one evening my BF and I decided to come here just for dessert. We arrived after the dinner rush so as not to fill a table during prime dinner hours. Mirabelle is located in a little strip shopping area off Kingsbury Grade, look for the 7 – 11 it right near that. It’s been here a long time and now has new owners as Camille Schwartz has retired. The food is still good and maybe even better, and the service competent and commensurate with this level of dining. No elbows across your face to refill you coffee. Dessert was scrumptious and delightful especially paired with a nice port for dessert as well. I do want to return for one of the Pre Fixe set dinners sometime, as they look like a bargain.

We just finished up dinner here tonight. We got a reservation for 10 and a baby. The staff is very friendly and attentive. Everyone enjoyed their food. I had the vegetarian dish and a house salad. The salad was delicious and had these little flower petals in it. My sister had the special, which was King Salmon and greatly enjoyed it. The venison my Dad had was good also. My brother devoured the duck dish. They have a decent wine and beer selection too. We went here for several years with the old chef and were pleased the food and atmosphere is still so nice. The current chef worked for a year with the old chef according to the new owner.

This place is a hidden gem. I grew up vacationing in Tahoe and never knew this place was here. It’s literally a 2 min drive from the major hotels. Service was excellent and food was delicious. My boyfriend and I have been wanting foie gras and when we went on our mini vacation we Unilocaled where in town would be the best place to have it. Prices were reasonable and the food was amazing. We ordered the escargot en croûte, the frog legs Provençal, the foie gras and the thyme infused rack of lamb and the fruit tarte. We rarely get out to eat great French cuisine and this was a real treat. I recommend everything we ordered, it was all so tasty and flavorful and I’m sure everything else is as well. The chef changes things all the time so that is a plus. The décor is a little dated but that’s ok other than that I would definitely go back. Try this place if u want to eat outside the hotels

We have gone to and enjoyed Marabelle for years but last night was the first time we went since the business changed hands. The dinner was every bit as wonderful as in the we have had there in the past. The sauce on my steak was incredible! My husband ordered a chicken pasta which was far removed from what you would normally expect. It was a lovely marriage of many individual flavors with three types of mushrooms, a light and lovely sauce and perfectly cooked tender chicken on top. We moved to Tahoe from the bay area where we were spoiled by the many choices a fabulous restaurants. We have found few Tahoe restaurants that measure up. This one is as good as anything in San Francisco. The only negative is there were not many people dining there. Let’s get the word out and support this little Tahoe Jewel.

We went to this restaurant a few weeks ago and really wanted to love it. Its a local place off the main drive… really small and cute. The service was fabulous but the food and wine just weren’t that good. We came with our two kids and I really can’t say enough about how great our server was. She was very patient and attentive. The first problem came with the wine. The list is a disaster. We have bought much better at Costco. Our server did say something about not being able to find good wine reps because they all want to work with the casinos, but really they could do a BevMo run to improve it 100%. And then the food was just not good. The escargot was really salty. The beef and lamb were tough. And the dessert options were disappointing. We sent a couple things back, but then just gave up. At over $ 300 for four, it should have been much better.

Another visit here, it’s still wonderful. My husband and I both had the fixed menu. I really liked the soup du jour, duck with the caramelized apple and couscous, and pot de chocolate. The chef recommended the wine for us, very good! Thank you for a great evening!
