Not sure why this place advertises as wholesale prices because they’re not. Budweister bottles, 12 oz, 18 pack $ 15.99 — I can get that at Stop n Shop at regular price. Stop n Shop will periodically have sales on this item for $ 12.99 — 13.99; they were out of BUD bottles that’s why I tried Champs. The 24 case of BUD bottles was $ 24.99, again, NOT wholesale prices! Won’t be shopping for my beer here. The girl at counter was nice and helpful, that’s why they get 2 stars.

I really can’t give less than 3 stars to a place filled with tasty beverages, but Champ’s did disappoint me.
They do have a lot of beer, and many good beers, but much of the stock seemed old and dusty. Most problematic, nearly nothing has prices listed, so it’s impossible to browse for a good deal. When the staff were asked about various beers and prices, they seemed rather inexperienced and confused. In general, the prices seemed acceptable, but not excellent — but I just ended up grabbing a couple of not-​too-​exciting 6-​packs since I apparently had to take the cashiers away from what they were doing to look up the price of whatever I was interested in… time-​consuming and tedious.
I was hoping to find a replacement for New Beer Distributors (on Chrystie St.) in this place, but I didn’t. (I’ve moved, and due to New Beer Distributors’ closing at 6pm, I just can’t get there anymore. Plus beer is heavy to tote from borough to borough.)
