My mother was admitted from the hospital directly to the 6th floor Alzheimer’s unit in the final stages of this horrible disease. From day one the interdisciplinary team steered my mother’s care with attention and concern for her every need. Anyone who has ever cared for someone afflicted with Alzheimer’s’ disease is fully aware of the overwhelming complexities and complications resulting from each transitioning stage. The 6th floor nurses, CNA’s, dietary staff, recreation staff and volunteers each rose to all the varying challenges involved in my mother’s care. The social worker(Jessica) assigned to our case was absolutely professional and accompanied my family members throughout this painful journey. Whatever issue would arise I was always kept informed and was involved in my mother’s care throughout her stay. Blessings and praise to all the employees on the 6th floor… A heartfelt thank you.

My mom is currently here for rehabilitation of a hip replacement. There are a few good nurses and even fewer aids who truly seem to care. They are really sweet souls in a craphole of a place. The person who wrote the review before me is correct, the décor is outdated. That being said, I don’t really give a shit about the décor. All I care about is that my mom gets the proper treatment she is there for. When the few good aids aren’t there, the ones that take over are incompetent and don’t seem to care about the patients and residents. Earlier last week, my mom needed to go to the bathroom. She pressed the buzzer which signals to the nurses and aids that the patient or resident requires help. After several minutes, my mom couldn’t wait any longer and decided to get out of bed on her own which she’s not supposed to do, held on to anything to support herself while she made her way to the walker, which was placed out of reach. Then she saw an aid leaving someone else’s room and walking right past my mom’s room while the buzzer is still going off! My mom didn’t ring the buzzer for no reason! She needed help!!! Anyway, no help was coming, and my mom made her way to the walker and then to the bathroom. Sadly she didn’t make it to the bathroom on time. This made me furious. There was another instance too where an aid spoke to my mother in a very disrespectful way. And either she or I am lucky I wasn’t there when it happened. I can go on, but the point is this is a very poor rehabilitation facility with a staff who mostly just seems to be there to collect a paycheck. If you are reading this review, I urge you to take your loved one somewhere else. Somewhere the majority of the staff are there because they care for the well being of the residents and patients.

This place needs a major makeover in more ways that one! Everything about the décor is VERY dated. Everything is old and rusty. The elevators are the slowest moving elevators I have ever been in. The parking is even horrible. For such a big facility, it does not have enough parking to accommodate family members of the residents. Nursing homes aren’t the happiest of places, so just walking in and seeing the condition of the facility, makes it even more depressing. Some people are here short term, but for those that are there long term, I can’t imagine it being uplifting in any way. They do have bingo in the main lobby and other events throughout the week, which residents can enjoy. The staff is split. There are nurses that are very attentive and nurses that are just there to be there. They have an in-house dialysis center and on-site therapy. They also have a garden room that residents can go to and enjoy their day there, with birds and turtles around the room, as well as plants surrounding them. Aside from some good points, this place needs a make over & I mean now!
