Was in Staten Island for work today and stopped in at the Indian Oven for lunch! I must say, it was a FANTASTIC experience in every way. The food and service was impeccable! We had the nicest most kind waiter! He accommodated all of our needs and went above and beyond! Such a wonderful experience! We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch! It was delicious! I highly recommend this place :)

Do not order delivery from them. They took 90 minutes. They were out of two things we ordered. They didn’t bring forks, napkins, or anything. The ingredients were obviously cheap. The chicken dish I ordered was on the bone and I kept getting bone chunks in my mouth. Just say no.

This place is relatively new and is a gem of a find on Staten Island(which is a desert for good Indian food). The staff are incredibly nice and the food is very tasty(plus, parking is easy!!!). We had delicious lamb and chicken dishes, as well as mouth-watering nan… We will be sure to go back, particularly on Saturdays and Sundays at brunch!

I now have been here nearly four times. The food is excellent and their lunch specials are unbeatable in both quality and price. Hands down this is the best Indian restaurant on the island. I recommend the chicken tikka masala and the weekend buffet.

This hole in a wall place is where you should head towards when you have cravings for Indian food. The food here is characteristic of southern india but there are a few dishes that will be familiar to North Indian food affectionados. If it’s the first time you are trying this place, go on a Saturday or Sunday for their lunch buffet. There are so many different types of meats and breads, porottas, vegetable curries, tapioca and fish curry is a must try, so is their egg masala and mussel roast. If you are confused as to how to eat. Let me tell you there are no rules. Just stuff it all in, it’s all good!

It’s not easy to find good Indian food on Staten Island, so to find one that is not too far away is more than I could ask for! We went there for takeout and found both north and south Indian food on the menu. The food was excellent! We plan to return to try their south Indian dishes.

The only South Indian restaurant in Staten Island. I’ve gotten takeout here a few times for lunch, and it’s so worth it! At $ 7.99 for just about most entrees on the menu. I’ve ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala Lunch, which came with Basmati rice, naan, and a cucumber tomato salad. The sauce was spicy since I asked for it spicy and tasted so good with the naan. The chicken was tender and delicious as well. I’ve also ordered the Fish Curry lunch, which also came with basmati rice, naan, and a tomato pepper onion salad. They use King fish for their fish curry. The sauce for the fish curry is very, very spicy. It was a bit fishy, but the fish was still good. Although the fish was good, fish curry is not my favorite dish. That’s also just my opinion as I wasn’t a huge fan of the fishiness in the curry sauce. The lamb korma is delicious and the lamb is so tender. The beef nirgisi is also spicy and yummy. Beef saag is spicy and flavorful and an excellent way to eat your spinach! ! They offer weekend lunch buffet for $ 12.95, which I haven’t tried yet. I will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu! The lady who took my order over the phone is very friendly in person as well. Overall, great place to order lunch!

Go to their buffet. It’s a foodie’s dream. 30 different things, so I won’t write a novel describing them all here, suffice it to say, they’re naan is perfectly bake so it’s basically succulent. They have more bean dishes than you could count on your fingers. All the meet is tender and their desserts are not too sweet so it weans you off the spicy gently. The owner is really nice, he’ll explain what is the best combination of sauce and dish and is friendly.

My go to place when I would like to go gorge on some sumptuous home food(Kerala), pat my full tummy and sigh happily. Love their beef fry and fish curry with rice especially. You could also try the tapioca beef/chicken biriyani, being one of my favorites. I have heard so many good reviews about their weekend lunch buffets(13 $ all you can eat), but have not had the chance to try that yet. Looking forward to burp my satisfaction on that as well. Good ambience. Family place. They do have a bar, but don’t hope for an a to z liquor rack. Take out, I have heard is an option exercised by many who don’t have the time for a laid back meal. A complete package if I might go that far, for someone looking for tasty south Indian delicacies and a quiet place to wolf it down.

Great food. Wonderful management. Have not dined in yet, opted for take out instead. The dahi vada was soft and fresh, the goat biriyani was not unnecessarily spicy and tasty.

One of the best dining experiences at an Indian restaurant. They have a wide variety of chicken and vegetarian dishes. Chicken biryani and tandoori chicken were flavorful and tasty. 4 of us went in for lunch buffet and all of us were amazed how good the food was! We’ll def. go back! Service was excellent! one of the owners refilled our water frequently and asked if we needed anything else. I love when customers are acknowledged and cared for. You should def. give this place a try!

Excellent South Indian lunch weekend buffet. Now, I love indian food but I’m generally not a fan of indian lunch buffets. The tired old vats of chicken tikka, paneer, some sea of vegetables drowning in an unappetizing green sauce… no thanks. The Indian Oven buffet has completely turned me around. First of all, it’s south indian cuisine, and as my wife and I will now say(we’re both south indian), it’s AUTHENTIC. I’m talking this is the stuff momma used to make. And the buffet is a collection of greatest hits. The selection was incredible. The Chicken 65 appetizer was crisp and flavorful. My wife was a fan of the vada but lamented that there was no «green chutney» to dip it in, though I’m sure if we told the staff they would’ve provided some. These are some of the things I can remember offhand — soft, buttery parathas, rich, moist, and delicious butter chicken, succulent mutton curry(which could’ve used more mutton, but the meat and curry were excellent), duck roast(which you NEVER see at a buffet, and it was REALLY good), chili chicken, fried fish, kappa(mashed cassava) and fish curry(super spicy!), egg roast, kerala style rice, chicken biryani(biryani included in a buffet?!), fried potatoes, pepper chicken, SIX different vegetable dishes, including dal, yellow and white mooru, sambar, papadum, two types of paisam… and there were more dishes that I’m forgetting! Totally worth the $ 12.95. Everything tasted fresh and spice levels were not diluted to please the masses. We also had a very attentive server.(Sure, we were 2 of 4 diners at the time but I’ve learned not to take service for granted at Indian restaurants) Everyone was very nice and we look forward to coming back. There’s also a full bar in front and Kingfisher beer available. Street parking right around the corner.(The small lot in the rear is not open to the public.)

I’m so glad that there’s finally a MALAYALEE restaurant on the island. I went to the lunch buffet on Sunday with my family and I’m happy to say that we all enjoyed the food very much. … One tip: play some Malayalam music if you have the them, it would add a nice touch.

Indian Oven is perhaps the best Indian meal that I’ve ever eaten. My family ate here on Father’s Day, at the request of my father, who has eaten here before. The buffet was truly amazing. I have never seen such a variety of dishes at an Indian buffet. There were probably a dozen different kind of vegetarian selections alone, and a number of fish curries, chicken, and even duck. There was also a selection of appetizers, paratha and nan bread, and even a plate of masala dosai for the table. The taste was amazing… on the hot and spicy side, which I like. The servers were super friendly and efficient, and most of the patrons Indian. If you are a fan of Indian food, then I highly recommend this place.
