I had been wanting to get my haircut by Jackie for a while. I put my name on the wait list and luckily for me I got called a week later. This was wonderful considering that I had gotten a botched haircut at another salon. The women at positivity are so nice and Jackie knows what she is doing! She was able to not only fix my hair but give me the best haircut of my life. She listened to me and looked at a picture and achieved what I wanted and made it look even better than the picture. She gave me an incredible blow out that even 3 days later looks amazing! Everyone I saw was raving about how awesome my hair looks. I am beyond happy with it. I would recommend positivity to everyone. They are current and will give you a modern look. I will never leave my hair in the hands of another stylist, ever! Also, they use amazing products that smell so good.

The girls here so beautiful work but it’s very hard to get an appointment which is tough when you need your hair done before you look like a monster! Book in advance– way in advance

Okay… personally I was only there twice and dealt with a young girl named Jennie. I hadn’t had my hair cut in years, so I saw her. Immediately, she made me feel comfortable by informing me that my extremely long hair would only be cut as long as I wanted it. After insuring me that she would not go any higher than a certain length, she then proceeded to cut about 4 inches higher than that. Okay, I wasn’t complaining too much. Yes, it bothered me that I walked in with hair at my waist and walked out with hair at my shoulders, but my hair had not been cut in years. And truth be told it was a GREAT haircut. The problem I had was my next visit. I asked for an ombré– my dark brown hair left alone with pink fading into purple. when I told her this is what I wanted she said no problem and asked if I wanted some pink streaks up in the front by my face, I immediately said no and said I didn’t want that much bright color up so high in the front by my face. She said no problem and proceeded to do my hair. She kept asking her coworkers how to color my hair… I thought it was odd when she started lightening my hair about an inch from the root. I hadn’t dyed my hair in over a decade, it was all new hair– I didn’t understand why she was starting so high– but I kept my mouth shut because I figured she knew what she was doing. Big mistake… Big, big mistake… Needless to say I found out when she was talking to her coworker that what she did was a «rooted ombré» which I would never have asked for, nor would I have known what it was to ask for it. If I didn’t want a couple of pink/purple streaks in the front, why would I want an entire head of pink and purple hair, with an inch of dark brown hair at the root? I basically paid about $ 200 to walk out of there with what looked like a head of pink hair that I dyed 8 months earlier, with my roots coming in. Also, I should mention that as a teenager I dyed my hair constantly, so I am aware of the impossibility of finding a permanent dye in those strange colors. I know that they fade and run, I know all of that… But I also know that when you apply dye, ESPECIALLY a semi-permanent dye, you leave it in the hair for more than 3 minutes, she lightened my hair for like an hour and then left the pink/purple on for no more than 3 minutes before rinsing it out. I knew that these colors were a big step, so I figured I would have them on the last 2 inches of hair, so if I happened to come to my senses in 3 months and hate it, I could just chop it off. If I did that now… I would have hair up to my ears, 2 weeks after spending $ 200 at this salon to do this to my shoulder length hair, I was spending $ 50 at Sally’s for brown hair dye, to dye my hair the exact same color it was when I walked in there, by that point, it was orange, purple and green where the pink faded. Sally’s will be getting a 5 star rating by the way. I will say this… That girl could cut hair. If you want a good cut, go… But there’s a reason some people cut hair and some people are colorists… Don’t try to do it all. Hell, I could never cut like that, or color like that… But then again I would never dream of charging somebody that much money to do that to their head,

I stumbled upon Positivity on Instagram and fell in love with their posts instantly. I have been at the same salon since I was 10 years old because I am not good with change but I knew I had to give Positivity a try. All the stylists are young and very trendy so I knew they would understand what I wanted. I called in July and the first available appointment for an Ombré was in August. I knew they were busy, but my goodness lol. I took that appointment QUICK and I do not regret it at all. When I came into the salon, it was a bit smaller than I anticipated but the décor was very warm and everyone was so nice! I knew that I wanted Ombré, but I did not know which color would look best on me, so I put my trust into Meghan! My hair turned out AMAZING. I walked out of there feeling like a brand new person. I will definitely be returning, thank you Meghan and Positivity!!!

Love this salon! I have a long bob and was really concerned about the way ombré would look with my length. Jackie mastered it! I also needed a trim and must say– she was the first to actually follow what I wanted and not cut off 5 inches because«it’s good for my hair». I have already scheduled a follow up appointment and I cannot wait! The staff is extremely friendly; overall an amazing experience.

It seemed impossible to find the right salon until I discovered Positivity. From arriving I instantly felt relieved by the welcoming, trendy atmosphere. Meghan cut and styled my hair unlike any stylist ever had. I walked in a mess and left with beautiful and healthy looking hair. My overall experience was great and I would recommend this salon to anyone.

Was looking for a new salon and stumbled across this place. I have long hair, and when I saw all the pictures of services they provided to women with long hair I was sold. Sometimes stylists just feel like the can’t make certain things happen while keeping the length. Jackie gave me the exact cut I wanted; fullness and layers while remaining long. Hair looked great. The place is decorated very nicely but it is very small. They make it work, but the space was packed. My cut and blow out was only $ 40! I will return. They have a parking lot but it was packed too. You’ll probably have to park on arthur kill.

What an awesome place and a positive experience. Not to mention BEAUTIFUL and so modern and chic. My past hair salon was so negative! And i never realized until entering here. My old hair salon would tell me things wouldn’t look good on me, something as simple as giving me bangs. Here i was complimented on my hair even before having anything done. I went to Meghan. She is awesome !
