Great sushi/sashimi at very reasonable prices. HIGHLY recommend going with the Chef’s Creation for Sushi or Sashimi and wait for the surprise! My wife does not eat sushi and loves the cooked dishes. Very nice inside, good music that is not too loud. Best of all it has never been crouded with a bunch of screaming NYers like almost every other restaurant in Stalin Islandgrad! One of the very few places I will eat out at on Stillin Italy. Enjoy!

Probably the best sushi on the island. All you can eat Sunday and Tuesays, can’t go wrong. The quality is a billion times better than other all you can eat sushi places. They are fresh, clean, friendly, and most importantly CLEAN!!! Beautiful décor, indoor/outdoor venue when the weather permits. Def a date spot, turns into a lounge and is usually very good as well. This place is worth the trip everytime.

Good sushi on the island is hard to find. It’s either cheap and tastes cheap or good but overpriced. I’d say it this place falls in the second category. The speciality rolls were all about $ 15, decent quality and medium sized. One thing I really liked is how unique their rolls are. Chilean sea bass is rare on this island and they had a special roll with it. I didn’t try it, but I will on my next visit. To begin we shared the tuna pizza. The flavors blended well. It was unique that it had olives on it, but the flavors jived. Then we both ordered the American Dream roll. Once again it was different that it was rock shrimp tempura. It had a flavorful sweetness to it that we agreed was delicious. Next I had the Seikou roll. Truffle on a sushi roll-hey, I’m down! I’m not one to eat the rolls in a full bite because then it’s hard to carry a conversation, but since their rolls aren’t that large-it was possible. All the flavors blended well to create a roll like I’ve never tried before. The creamy sauce was the perfect finish. Although, when I did take a closer look the crab looked like that cheap imitation crab. I pretended to ignore that part. Also, I had a spicy salmon roll with avocado. It was good. I tried my dining partners sesame chicken. It appeared to be all white meat and had a nice sweet sauce. It was surrounded in broccoli and served with white rice. It was a decent portion. The drinks are about $ 12. There are no prices on the menu. I do think they need to extend their martini selection. Their drinks were made well. The ambiance is loud and trendy. It attracts a lot of people celebrating and dates. They have no shame letting everyone around them know that they want«shots, shots, shots». Overall, I would recommend it.

I loved the atmosphere! We came for dinner on a crappy day and the décor inside instantly brightens up your mood! I went from feeling sad to giddy in the beautifully lit up booth. The food — very fresh sushi! Creative appetizers! And I especially liked sparking sake! Only bummer is parking /not much of area to park. They do have valet if you wish so.

I think Takayama has the best sushi on Staten Island. It’s pricey, but definitely worth it. The sashimi is so fresh and the I love their spicy salmon hand roll. The fried dumplings are the best I’ve ever had also. Go here to impress that special someone or with your good friends but be prepared to spend some money!!!

Definitely my favorite sushi place in Staten Island so far. It’s not authentic purist Japanese sushi, but if you’re into special rolls, this is the place to go. Takayama has a nice loungey vibe to it and has pretty spacious seating with a back area. If part of your party doesn’t want sushi, there’s also a big selection of Chinese food. The highlight for me were the special rolls and handrolls. The seikou roll was really good and was comparable to a black truffle roll I had at Sushi Samba once. Then again, truffle makes everything delish. Volcano roll was good too and generous in their spicy tuna portions. Special rolls are $ 15 but well worth it. I also really loved their wasabi crawfish handroll. Generous amount of crawfish, and flavored nicely. I definitely plan on returning while I’m in Staten Island.

Food is delicious, but don’t bring the kids. I went in the middle of the week for lunch, and they didn’t have high chairs! The kicker was when they brought out the kids’ cups– a to go soup container with a straw stuck in the styrofoam top. I get that they want an upscale feel and all, but at least have high chairs!!!

The venue is beautiful and the customer service is great. I love that they have excellent vegetarian options. The food is a bit pricey. My peanut avocado and avocado cucumber rolls were 5 dollars each and the rolls were small. The reason why I give them 4 stars is because I asked to take my food to go(Doggy bag) and the waitress discarded my food instead.

Fish is fresh, nice variety of rolls. Little pricey for the area BUT if you want cheap sushi you have more issues than price. Not worth even looking at the menu since the waitress with usually recommend a better special roll(happens every time) For being on staten island its great without hebung to venture into the city. Parking lot and entry/exit is a shitshow unless its afternoon weekdays. Valet avail sometimes however the lot is 30′ x 30’ FYI ¡¡¡You can never really be too sure with peoples sushi reviews on Unilocal, some people eat sushi from supermarket and think that counts!!!

Takayama has the best All-U-Can Eat Special I have ever been to & I have been to many restaurants all over the Tri-State Area. The fish is always fresh and the hand rolls are made to perfection. I work in midtown and take clients to many Sushi spots and Takayama is as good or better than those much more pricey places. I HIGHLY recommend Takayama to all sushi lovers — especially on Sundays(24.95 All U Can Eat).

Maybe it’s just me, but I wasn’t nearly as impressed as all the other reviewers were … The drinks were good as were the appetizers, but the main course of a various specialty rolls was just … average. I’ve had better … and I’ve had worse.

I used to rave about this place and eat here any chance I got. But since they changed the menu to dumb it down to appease the ppl of staten island who don’t know what good food is. It’s gone down hill. The sushi is still good but it’s not the same. They added typical cheap Chinese and took off awesome fusion cuisine. So disappointed.

Love this place! My first time here, location is good it’s on page ave near everything. Décor is really upscale. Prices are great especially if you go for lunch, you can get a great deal, better than any other sushi place. Their sushi is delicious, and I eat a lot of sushi. This is one of the best I’ve ever had! I would definitely recommend it, and will be going back.

I am not going to say that Takayama Sushi Lounge has the best sushi I’ve ever tasted… but they are pretty damn good! Everything is fresh and on point. The presentation is impeccable and the price is not too bad. If I was to rate it, I’d rate this the best sushi restaurant that I’ve had in Staten Island thus far. I don’t come in to SI much, but this is the go-to spot if I am coming into SI and craving sushi. If you’re coming in here expecting a quiet traditional Japanese sushi restaurant, you’ll be in for a surprise. The décor is lounge-like and beautiful. Although there isn’t that«intimate» feeling as that of a traditional Japanese restaurant, there is still a sense of intimacy in the«outdoor»(a section of the restaurant that extends outside of the restaurant but still enclosed) room. It would be a great place to bring your significant other and request to be seated in that section of the restaurant. Not only is the food quality and décor amazing… the service, I would say, takes the cake for this one. With the décor and food presentation so beautiful, you’d expect a pretentious staff of know-it-alls. That isn’t the case here! The waiters and waitresses are mostly locals who grew up in the area or around the way. They know their menu and they don’t give off that cocky vibe… they keep it very personal with their customers and that’s what stands out most.

I realize I checked in a while ago, but hey, it’s never too late to review right? Takayama is a cool place. It’s a higher end sushi joint equipped with a new age menu and DJ. The rolls here are different, but not in a bad way. They have a lot of dishes that are«Mexican» inspired and personally, I love the blend of Mexican and sushi since they are on the top of list of favorite cuisines. The atmosphere is quite nice. We sat in a booth in the back which was rather secluded and romantic. The waitstaff was very attentive and did a good job of informing us and then reminded us during dinner that the kitchen was going to stop serving. The music was pretty good, but of course it depends what you like. It is more«hip-hop» club scene over anything else. There is a bar and dance floor in the front, but with that said, on a Saturday night at midnight, it wasn’t crowded at all. Overall, I enjoyed what we ate and drank(although I can’t recall specifics) and would go back here in the future.

We ordered take out and just about every other thing was good. The rock shrimp tempura was awful. The calamari salad was great and the dressing was tasty. The ahi tuna Panka roll was delicious just not the salsa tasting sauce it came with. Now for the absolute worst!!! The Kobe beef roll sounded so appetizing we ordered 2… It is barely edible! Disgustingly horrible! It really was so bad it ruined the other food. Ick!

Came to Takayama for drinks and a small bite of sushi with some girlfriends. We sat at the bar and although it was pretty empty for a thursday night, our bartender, Melissa was phenomenal. Not pushy/smothering on top of you but always there when you needed her. We ordered a few rounds of drinks, shots, and maybe two sushi rolls to pick on. Spicy tuna roll was presented creatively and fish was fresh. I know it was a thursday night but found it strange that their Dejay played music SOLOUD we could hardly hear each other conversation and there was probably 8 people in the restaurant… uh, big pet peeve.

This place is good. Staff is great very attentive. Will start with the good points. The spicy tuna roll was great very fresh. The volcano roll was also good. The vegetable fried rice was very good. Whatever we ordered was delicious. My bf orders sushi and unfortunately whatever he wanted to order besides the basic salmon tuna and mackral they didnt have. Come on. Your a SUSHIRESTAURANT you should have whats on the menu. If you dont want to stock it take it off.
