I think this place makes decent meals but the delivery as far as taste is not the same often. They are very stingy with the meat servings, their food cost way more than what it should be. They are charging five star prices for a two star dish.

The food was ok the bake fish was dried and taste horrible. They also are expensive. They give you awhile lot of rice and 3 peace of bite side meat. Never again.

I work on Staten Island and the good eating that isn’t pizza is pretty limited. Enter Wazobia. As a Nigerian– American, I can honestly say their food is awesome. Rice cooked perfectly. Stew is flavorful. They aren’t always timely with delivery, but eating in has always been good for me. I definitely recommend giving this restaurant a try if you want something new and tasty!

Traditional Nigerian food. It’s in a nabe that has a lot of cheap food options. I paid 18 bucks for food that should have cost me 12⁄13. They need to consider the prices more carefully and do combo meals that are less costly. This might bring in the customers. I had the jollof rice with oxtails. The rice was nothing special. The only good thing was the spice. I enjoyed the spinach, but it should have come with the rice and meat and not charge separately. Not sure If I would go back.

This place is about more than just the food, it’s about the all-around truly authentic experience. The overall atmosphere is exactly what one would expect of a street-side dining establishment in Nigeria. The taste and presentation of the food are amazing, and the service is extremely attentive and friendly. I went with a group of coworkers(all of us for the first time) and we shared quite a few of their unique and intriguing dishes. Everything hade wonderfully authentic flavors of Western Africa and everything was cooked to perfection. The ISIEWU(goat head cooked in lgbo spices) and CURRYCHICKEN were flavorful, succulent and tender and the JOLLOFRICE was beautifully seasoned. They have rather unique choices of beverages as well. The only thing that I do not recommend is the IGBIN(large African land snail); it was very tough nearly to the point of being unpalatable, but I’d say that anything else on the menu is a surefire bet. Oh, and the prices are very reasonable as well. I plan to return to Wazobia many times to try every item on their one-of-a-kind menu. If you’re looking for something out of the ordinary in Staten Island, then definitely check out Wazobia on Bay Street!

Well this was an absolute first time for me. I’ve never had authentic African Cuisine(this was Nigerian i suspect) and since this place is less than a block away from the apt we went and checked it out. Now we had picked up a menu to go over what was offered and it all seemed pretty appetizing. We walked into an unimpressive eating area and it the back of the room was a hot table with all the days dishes and a bar that served beer(Guiness only) The only plus i can take away from walking in was that it smelled good, the food that the other customers were eating looked good as well. Our waiter was a nice older gentleman with a thick accent, after a few attempts at trying to get our order(we were pretty sure that what ever was coming out of the kitchen to our table was going to be wrong) he went and got the manager to come look in on us. She got things straight and went about the business of getting it ready in the kitchen. We had 3 meat pies to start of with; they were doughy handmade patties(the outsides were scored with a fork) with a savory meat and potato filling. I had to remind myself that this was a whole new experience and it was not americanized so to bear with the presentation. We ordered Suya steak and grilled tilapia. The steak actually came in a bowl and garnished with onions(pictures below) it was cut into strips and the spices were nothing i’ve ever had before, it was pretty good actually. I would def use it as a steak rub at home if I could get my hands on it. Also all the food comes out in those black trays you’d get at a high school cafeteria, so after a while we had like 6 trays on our table and we had to combine them. The waiter always came back to check on us and it was apparent this might have been his first week on the job. The tilapia came stuffed with sweet grilled plantains and grilled sweet peppers. It was served whole i think it was deep fried as well. you have to go in with your hands if you want to get all the meat of of it(pictures below) I think this is a nice little place if you want something out of the ordinary. Fair warning that it is NOT americanized and the tastes are not what you are used you. I would def go back now that i have a better idea of whats on tap. I know this sounds awkward but I went to the manager after the meal and asked her whether i could check out what was offered at the steam table and she showed me what on tap, the food looked good and there were alot more greens available than i had imagined, i think i will just go back there and point out what i want to try if thts an option. one thing i noticed that it was a very popular hangout with the patrons and had an atmosphere of where they’d go to have a cold one after work and meet up with other nationals as well. I can’t give this anything more than 3 simply bc i think there is a lot of room for improvement and i need to have a few more dishes. It was good for my first time, nothing that was a revelation or anything.
