had a suprise bday party here. had my mom drop a $ 100 deposit got a reciept. day off party went there table wasnt ready nor did the staff know about the party. the manager there tried saying we never set anything up nor gave a deposit. i had to check him quickly no one call my mom a lair. pulled out reciept he looked stupid and walked away and never seen him again. an employee there took care of everything she was awesome. just being 2 girl servers only. my family had to wait for the food to come out in portions because the cook wasnt notified of our order. $ 650 worth of food plus $ 100 tip for the waitress. we have now found other middle eastern places to go to. that was our last time there no one in our family does events there or go there just for dinner. will never be back unless under new managment!!!

I went in here and it smelled very good. I walked in virtually as they opened as I had to be somewhere by noon, so I was ordering carry out and looking at a menu. Nobody was there, but they came out of the back. I got a combo and it took about 20 minutes but I got the food. I put it in my car and it smelled so good, I almost had to stop in my car and eat. I was hungry. And…that covers the good things I have to say. I got back and took out all the food(and there was plenty) and there was no sauce at all on the chicken. Now either the sauce had all dried or they forgot to put it on(I hope for their sake the latter) and the chicken was tasteless. Thankfully, I ordered Chicken Lemon Rice soup as opposed to my usual salad from mediterranean places because I had to pour it on the chicken and rice to give it flavor. The pita bread is not made, it is prepackaged so thats another strike. I did not get garlic or hommous sauce for the pita bread either. All in all, disappointing.

I have been craving good garlic sauce and chicken kabob/shawarma. I do have to say the person who took my carry out order put me on hold and hung up on me, but I called back. The food was pretty good and the garlic was YUMMY(I know, easy to make). I am glad they did not use mayo like another place I went to(ick). The rice was ok, different than I had at other places. Over all it is not as great as my fav med. rest but much better than some by my work. I will be back. * didn’t eat my soup yet

This place is a total rip off. My family and I, as well as my fiancé’s family went there for a wedding rehearsal dinner. Not only did we get horrible service, but I specifically asked the server if we were ordering too much food(which we did by a long shot, and not your typical middle eastern dining«ordering too much food», I mean she fixed it so we ran up the bill so she could tack on a very fancy gratuity to our bill). I collected menu’s, handed out to go boxes, we never got our drinks refilled, we constantly had to go up to the waitstaff, and no one was in the restaurant. Do yourself a favor… eat at a different place. This was awful and for my fiancé’s family’s first middle eastern eating experience, it was an embarrassment at best. In addition, the meat was dry, the order was wrong, the vegetables were literally frozen. The mixed kind you get out of a bag. New Sahara Restaurant = An EMBARRASSMENT to middle eastern food and culture. The ambiance is a joke, as well.

This is a very open restaurant! It almost looks like a small banquet hall. The menu is quite extensive, but my dad and I settled on their combo for two — three kinds of chicken and beef with rice and soup or salad. Overall, it comes with a ton of food, but most of it was relatively average. They did include a white bean and a curry sauce, both of which were very good. In a pinch, it would be a nice place to go, but if I didn’t have the Groupon, I probably would have just passed it by.

The wife and her friends went here for a little work get together, so my review is on the left overs. I had both the Fattoush and Greek salad, which were mixed together in one container, but the chick peas, diced beets, fresh feta and crisp pita chips made for a nice salad. The hummus was better that average, No puffy bread though, just pita bread. The rice was awesome, as was the 2 different kinds of chicken. The lamb was dry, but that was 2 hrs later, I still ate it though! Good food!

I love middle eastern food and on a 2 am craving for middle eastern I decided to check out New Sahara. So let’s give you the scoop of what they have going on for them. 1. They’re open till 4 am on a Friday night The food on the other and is not that great. I’ve had MUCH better food from dinky little middle eastern restaurants. I ordered the Super combo which comes with 3 pieces of chicken tikka, beef shawarma, chicken cream chop, 1 shift kafta and 1 chicken kafta and I got a lentil soup and lemon rice soup as sides. The soups were horrible and the mean was not tender/juicy. It seemed excessively dry and the rice was too oily. I also ordered hummus as an appetizer and it was pretty bad. The texture was not what I’m used to compared to other middle eastern joints and it was a little too sour. I would not really recommend this place for authentic and quality middle eastern food, however, the one good thing this place has going on is the hours.

My family ordered 2 of their Sahara Super Combos for my brothers birthday and drove it all the way to Toledo for him(it’s his favorite restaurant). Everything was good– most of it was excellent. Included in the«excellent» category was the pickled cabbage(OMG excellent), red curry sauce, garlic sauce, chicken cream chop, kafta, shawarma and rice. I’ve had better hummus(great texture, somewhat bland), the taboulee was missing something and kabob was very ordinary.

I went here the other day with a group from work. The food was unimpressive. We ordered two large sampler trays and so got to try a bit of everything. On the whole, the meats were dry and under-seasoned. The hummus had a nice texture, but was also fairly bland. The one high point was a curry-based red sauce that went well over rice, and was useful for adding a bit of moisture and flavor to the meat. I would probably only give this place a single star if it wasn’t for the service. Our server was extremely friendly, helpful and patient with our large group. In an area dominated by very good middle eastern restaurants, New Sahara on 15 Mile needs to step it up.
